We used to go cross country skiing in Hallingen, and every year they offered a day trip to the Flåm Railway. But if the weather was good we wanted to ski, and if it was cloudy/foggy/snowing there didn't seem much point in a scenic train journey. So we never went. I'm glad you made it possible to see what we missed!
Thanks :)
Being born and raised in the Midwest of the U.S. I'm no stranger to winter and have seen many snows in 70+ years but this is Magnificent. Those mountains are impressive. Thank you so much for sharing this video with us... this is as close as I'll ever get to Norway but it's so beautiful... I'll take it and I'll thank you again.
Regard the grade there! Climbing 55 feet per 1000 feet of distance at the worst places.
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed it.
I've never seen snowfall in my life. How amazing to see snowfall everywhere in Norway. I love 😍 this country 💓💓💓💓💓
Thanks for visiting
Snow is absolutely beautiful
I have seen snowfall once in my life till now
It's cold n wet
@@100BIPBIPBIP Coldness is great, not really wet it depends
Most beautiful and peaceful. Kiitos!!!
The British pioneered railways but Scandinavians took it a great leap further. All those tunnels and cuttings, tracks seemingly clinging to mountains with a sheer drop on one side. Many feet of snow every winter, steep tracks both up and down. My hat goes off to the talented engineers who constructed this system
Thank you for your comment :)
When I am stressed, I watch this. Its a drug free way to reduce stress and anxiety.
Thank you for watching!
Gorgeous. The most beautiful job in the world.
Nope they are bored.
@@rohanhonan7090 I don’t think so.
Thanks for watching! It is a great job indeed!
Norway is so beautiful! A winter wonderland! Its great to be able to see it by rail.
Indeed!
White color symbolizes purity, innocence and simplicity. One of my favorite colors.
Thanks for watching! :)
Wonder if anyone is biking down the trail from Myrdal to Flåm.
Marvellous. Here, in the UK, one need only utter the words ‘Aled Jones’ & everything comes to a standstill.
I love watching these from Australia during our hot summers. You should have sponsorship from the Norwegian Tourist Board, it makes me want to visit so much.
You should go mount buller
You should come anyway! ❤
My exact thoughts. In a sweltering Aus summer these vids are like a cool breeze…..xxx
In todays tressed life, peaceful & wealthy life is gained by peacefull travel in wealthy nature & wealthy people. Beautiful nature👌with shivering cold.
... and while I am watching my mind sings all the beautyful a-ha songs like 'Lifelines', 'Scoundrel Days', 'True Norh' ... and so on
Thanks, glad you like it!
The larger, longer-lasting captions are helpful---easier to read. I also appreciate the additional information included about tunnel construction and the track configuration at Myrdal.
How about the yellow font?
@ 9:01 is one serious block of rock some folks had to claw a hole through in order for our HinduCowGirl to be able to come along over 100 years later with her choo choo...Respect!
SNOW! SNOW! SNOW!... Paradise.
Thank you for watching! :)
I love watching these videos when winding down. They conk me out real quick.
I can imagine! Watching a train ride on a snowy day is a sight that makes you want to bundle up in a warm blanket. After that, it's lights out from there!
I love this video 😍❤️ from india 🇮🇳
Thanks a lot :D
love the scenery. I do not understand how this vid gets downvotes.
Thank you ❤️ I guess it's impossible to make everyone happy 😃 hehe
Because there’s always some punk in his parent’s basement who has to be a moron.
I have also been a Trenitalia train driver for 28 years. for me it is the best job in the world
Thanks for sharing :)
Gorgeous scenery.
Yea ! If you like it all white. 😘 it was a nice ride though.
Many thks breathtaking scenery

Understand completely, especially in winter, no matter how much you enjoy your job. Hats off to you.

"My" light weight rail car wouldn't stand a chance there. Impressive tour.
Thanks!
That’s some beautiful country!
Thanks for watching!
The Mountains with the snow ...so gorgeous ...thank you for sharing ur gorgeous country side with me
Thank you for watching :D
Hi, I'm an engineer of railways and locomotive driver at BDZ (Bulgarian State Railways), so these views are quite familiar to me. The most impressive thing is the slope of this line - 55‰ is toooo much! We have many mountain lines with 22-28‰, even main line 4 crosses the Balkan mountain from north to south with 33‰ for 20km up then 31‰ for 30 km down, almost no straight section and 26 tunnels from which No 23 is 2100m with more than 180°. There we haul freight trains of 1600-1800t with 3 engines (2 in front and 1 at rear). Although the line speed is 65 km/h we hardly achieve 15-20. In the winter it's a real nightmare. I pray not to stop. If i skid or stop - no go. Sand doesn't help. Several times I had to get the train back about 15-20 km to reach more even section. I wonder how you cope with such a terrible slope? Of course the passenger trains are much lighter (250-300t) but on your line it's still quite a weight!
Looks like the train is floating with the snow covering the tracks....great scenery love it!
HOW could there ever be a 👎 to any HCG video.... I don’t get it. Always the best ride.
my thought also, just does not add up.
Norway is anybody's dream destination.
Thanks for watching!
this is sooo relaxing i think i just s... myself. i live in Denmark this landscape is so much more beautiful in flat Denmark.
Hehe, thanks for watching :)
Absolutely beautiful~ ..quite literally breathtaking..
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it :D
I think I told you that I love black-and-white photography, but this is so much better. All the shades of black and white, the incredibly fine detail of the mountains with the snow highlighting, and then sudden bursts of color. Just extraordinary. Thank you.
Lovely relaxing ride HinduCowGirl with all the snow covering the tracks. I like the walk around the train in the beginning and turning on the 100 amp battery breakers. Thank you for all the videos and chats. You are the herd master!
How wonderful - a rail cowgirl. I was, at one time, a horse cowboy (southeastern Montana), and I was not nearly as precise as you as far as staying on track (which we called "trails"). You have glorious mountains, rivers, and fiords. We had rattlesnakes. We didn't have pigs but some ranches did. None were as cute as your logo-pig, although their eyes were a bit more uncrossed. You're an excellent ambassador for Norway - a beautiful and treasured place. Thanks for the great videos. Press on.
A walk around in the snow, a cold and dark start up, on a cold gray snowy winter morning.
I sure hope you had a nice warm breakfast and plenty of hot coffee.
Thanks for the video.
👍👍👍👍👍
I did! :D
This is my go to channel during the day and I sleep with the live feed on most nights. I get used to the horns and tunnel noise. The scenery is always changing and it's always interesting if not exciting at times. Hurtling through tunnels at breakneck speed is just that. 😁
Yaaaay! ❤️❤️❤️
The ability to fall asleep from the cab view to the sound of the engine and the clatter of the wheels is convenient, but not when you are a driver. ;)
from subarcitic forest to mild marine climate
Wow. Stunning footage. Driving trains through a postcard. Thanks.
What an AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL VIDEO!
Thank you so much!
All those homes with people just living their lives. Hello Norwegian people's !
Hello! :D
I’ve never seen a scenery from a train so beautiful like this.
Hope that I can visit there one day.
You should! :D
what a frozen hell! you'd have to be nuts in the head to live there.
I'd take that Beautiful and Peaceful frozen hell over the weather I get in the UK in a heartbeat lol. Each to their own eh!
You have the most beautiful office!
I totally agree with you!
I love going to this country. A beautiful country inhabited by great people.
👌🏻
Thank you :D
what insanely beautiful scenery
I've done the trip from Oslo to Myrdal and then down to Flam and it is truly spectacular. This and the other videos are a great reminder of this trip. Copenhagen->Oslo->Balestrand->Bergen. For an American it was the trip of a lifetime.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
I just love winter scenes.it makes you feel cold by looking at it.
Thanks, glad you like them :)
THIS VID positively is one of the Very Best. Nice slow ride thru the snow ....... Thank You HCG !!
I will probably re-upload the video at some point as youtube has solved the 4K problem!! YEAAAAH!
Just saw it! :D So changed the thumbnail :D WOohooo!
You'll find the answer to that question in the about-section ;)
@@RailCowGirl Oh thank you HCG ! I certainly have missed my 4K viewing on my 4k monitor !! It will be good to have that back !!
Wow so beautiful ❄️🎄❤️👍🏻

Absolutely stunning scenery! I couldn't live there, but I would love to visit. Thanks for sharing. ❤👍
Thanks for visiting
What a view to behold !
Thanks, glad you like it!
Very peacefull
Thank you!
This is STILL my favourite of your videos. Can't say why, either - so thank you for surprising me!
Thanks a lot for watching :)
Having gone down to Flam on a late evening train video, it was brilliant to come back up on the early run - wonderful views and tunnels!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks a lot!
It's amazing what freshly fallen snow can do to an already winterized location, not disturbed by wind or sun, but suggest a serene tranquil setting where if anyone wants to, can drift off towards nothing short of bliss. T'is almost too perfect.
Unless you are trying to sleep and this rude train driver comes blaring by.
How far until we get to the first stop.... with available hotel rooms. And heat?
Oh it's short of bliss alright, about 1500 miles short.
I trust that the train is heading SOUTH......
T'is cold too cold. It T'is.
Beautiful. Doesn't snow have a clean, calming effect on everything? Thank you for posting.
Thanks for watching :)
I love this peaceful Video ❤
Thank you!
Insanely beautiful ❄️ 💙❄️
Thank you! :D

Greetings from Maryland ,USA. Thank you for making these videos. The scenery is stunning . Likely I will never get to visit them in person yet through these videos I can experience this part of the world. Thanks Again.
Thank you so much :)
What an amazing job you have! How could one ever get bored with such breathtaking scenery? Thank-You.
Indeed! I've been doing this for over a decade and still I think "wow!" when I look out.

Yay!
Amazing Christmas card scenery all the way. Thanks for your quality efforts. Ronn
Thank Hindu for your beautiful videos, i love 'em
I always love a trip on the Flam line. Thanks for a beautiful snowy ride, HCG! I also enjoyed the informative notes you put up at different points during the trip. Wow! 18 tunnels were hand-dug. That had to be rough work digging through solid rock! Thanks again for the video! They are always enjoyable.
Beautiful! (It is 40°C in Sydney 🔥🔥 as I watch this.) 🐨🇦🇺
Thanks for watching :)
I am in love with Norway ever since I visited Norway at Epcot Center in Florida. Now I love the beautiful winter landscape especially since we don't have winters with snow anymore in Wuppertal Germany where I live. I really enjoyed your video, thanks!
Excellent rail movie! Thumbs Up Best Regards from France !!
Yaay :D Thank you :D
What a beautiful office you have,I’m so envious, great job keep up with the good work, great, great, great.

Glad you enjoyed it 😃❤️
Watching this in bed on yet another lock-down day here in the North West corner of Ireland. Very relaxing and easy on the eye. Thank you kindly, RailCowGirl.
Glad you enjoyed it
That is some railway line. Fantastic and thank you for the video.
Thanks for your comment!
Such beauty - I want to live in Norway ❤️🇳🇴❤️
Thanks for watching!
Super video.
Thanks a lot!
Beautiful!
I just LOVE your videos! Especially the more wintely ones.
This reminds me of the old gone winters here in Italy on the Alps.
I really want to see again the snow, but I think here there will be every year way less and less.
Thanks for the video, Norway have really amazing environments. 👍
now that's a train journey,well done RailCowGirl
Thank you :D
The fragment leading through the ledge after leaving the tunnel behind Kårdal is amazing 🤩
Absolutely amazing what you can see on a train from your living room and you're the conductor seeing these beautiful countries! What an absolutely awesome thing live trains is! 😁
Thanks for watching! :)
Impressive climb. Almost 900 meters in a ride of only 20 km roughly. And the tunnels are awesome. It must have taken a couple decades to dig those.
It took one month to dig one meter of tunnel on this line.
@@RailCowGirl somehow that math doesn't add up. They would still be tunneling.?..
Hell, it looks stark. Makes the "wall" on GOT look inviting! Great video. 👍
What to do in a pandemic? Well, you can't really travel, but ... you can still enjoy being on a train in Norway--in the best seat too. lol Thanks for posting these great videos.
Thanks for watching! Stay safe!
North of Scandinavian like a wonder, god tears and it freeze into white flurry rocket to cover Scandinavia and give the white peace wonderland 🇳🇴🇸🇪🇫🇮, love from Canada
Fun fact: Canada has 2-3 times more snow than north of Scandinavia, also the temperature is much lower, this scale of snow in your video is common in big Toronto area (south of Ontario, one of the warmest place in Canada) during November to April
Average snow fall in my city is 400cm with 1.7m of snowdepth at most (A small city 100km away from downtown Toronto 🇨🇦)
Great video, Makes you feel cold just watching it
Thanks, glad you liked it.
great trip! love it! thanks for sharing!
woooowww so cool! ..and those ice/snow pieces falling from the catenary just in front of the loco due to vibrations..
I would give it all 5....
But that frigg,n drip killed it....
Decenttt. Bubbles
H C G did her best with the wiper. The rest was beyond her control.
Just part of winter................good, bad, whatever.
Sorry about that. Thanks for watching anyway :)
Absolutely wonderful!
Thank you so much!
My kind of ‘slow TV’ 😍
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy it!
