Malabari Jews of Kerala: In conversation with Elias Josephai

Elias (Babu) Josephai is the sole caretaker of the Kadavumbagam Synagogue in Market Road, Ernakulam, Kochi. As one of the last members of the Malabari (Bhaghdadi) Jewish community, he traces their history and explains traditions which have been preserved unscathed since their arrival in 72 BC. The community is considered as one of the ten lost tribes of Israel, frequently mentioned in historical books throughout the world.
