    Fantastic Terry. It will be amazing with the plants in there, it will be so pretty. The pressure filter is doing amazing here too, I have checked and almost nothing on the floss in the shower which i had left for a couple of weeks to check what would pass the pressure filter. So I have removed the floss now permanently. I am so pleased. We have the same model :-)
    Thank you very much for the shout out, much appreciated, your kinds words touched me.

      Hi Lau, and thank you. I meant every word. My pressure filter's working great. I have got one that I've had for years, which I thought about using, but when I watched what you did, I had to have a new one. My old one is a nightmare to clean. Thanks for all the tips Lau, it's really appreciated. Keep up the great work. Take care and stay safe, Terry.

    Terry, correct. The bog filter will take care of the nitrates - the principle used in Aquaponics. I can tell you from my own experience that Lebanese Cress makes an excellent plant filter. You do not need substrate at all as the roots will be dangling in the water - just some sort of support until establishes. The plant is edible, too. Raz
    PS And you will need air under the roots. Keep the roots clean (filtered water only). Will yield great results. I shall send you an email with improvements you can do.

    Hi terry, great addition to the pond the bog filter. I did something similar using guttering at different levels to grow lettuce and herbs, a vertical wall of fresh produce. I did find that bigger stone worked great as the roots and algae build up quick and blocks the flow, also a copper gauze on the inlet and outlet pipes repel the roots, as they search for the water source and block pipes. Aquaponics in its basic form. Keep up the great vids.

When I saw all the CZcamsrs making pipe feeding rings I thought why aren't they using an inner tube like me and my mates do. The bog filter is great. Just need to have a gap at the bottom and a couple of stand pipes to suck the muck out with your vac. Not that there will be much with the 6000. I recommend Oz ponds for bog filter information. Hi Terry. I know a lot of people have had issues with comments going missing on their channels. I can't say I've ever seen a comment from you on mine so I have no idea if you've commented and it's disappeared or not. I hated my pressure filter when I had it connected to my heater circuit. Admittedly it was an older style Blagdon 6000 and it was a real pain to clean. That is why I built my two upflow filters. I know most people use them as polishers but trust me they work fantastic as pre filters too. I clean mine every 3 to 5 days and it's so easy compared to the old pressure filter. Obviously they get a lot dirtier than using them the other way round but I can live with that and it gives me great water for watering the garden plants. The downside was that I had to get a bigger pump as I needed the head pressure due to the height of the top of the upflows. They work that well I can leave my filter floss and sponges in my normal filters for well over a month before I need to do anything with them. I'm even considering not uses the floss etc this year and seeing what happens. If the pressure filter doesn't work out for you have a think about using an upflow.

      @Wrighty  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Jim, I have found out that CZcams are now removing any comments that contain links or email address's, I think that's absolutely stupid. That will account for a few of my comments that's gone missing. I have commented on your channel mate, but I must be honest, I didn't go back and check if it was still there. I know what you mean about pressure filters, I still have an old one behind the shed somewhere, but it's the only way I could filter the water and push it up hill to the bog filter. I still haven't got my up-flow and protein skimmer filters back up and running yet, I'll have to get my finger out lol. I did think about an up-flow for the bog filter, but I don't want too much filtration showing around the pond. Thanks mate and take care, Terry.

      @@Wrighty Terry there is a setting in the back end of CZcams that you can change to allow links. I would not recommend doing it though or your comments will get filled up with Spam. Most comments with links in them will be placed in the Held for Review tab on the comments page in Studio. There is also an automatic filter that tries to identify spam including hashtags and I think that one will automatically block the users. There is about 6 names that it has added all by itself to my blocked users list. If you think it would be useful I can try and put together a guide for it and email it to you.
      I know what you mean about having the filtration showing around the pond. All of mine is hidden behind my aviaries and I built a cupboard to house my upflows so they are in the dark and hidden from view. If you decided to go that way I think you might be close enough to your main shed that you could hide it down the side of it by your fence. Still the new pressure filter might do the job being a newer design than the old one I had. Now you've bought it you've got to give it a reasonable go haven't you.

      @Wrighty  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Jim, thanks for the info mate, it will be very useful. I will have a look. The reason I went for the Filtoclear 3000 is because Lau from The French Koinection has just got one, and she says they're great at removing the dirt. She's put one in front of her bakki shower, and she no longer has to put the filter floss in there to catch the dirt. Also, it's the one where you pull a handle that squashes the foams to clean, which is much better. Like you say, I'll give it a go and see how it gets on. I will let you guys know. Thanks again mate, very much appreciated, take care, Terry.

    Hi Terry, looking great 👍 I think I've lost count as to how many different filtration systems you have on your pond now😂 never have too much though! Was the overflow tee purposely put on sweeping back towards the outlet? Not that I suppose it matters with it only being an overflow. Take care👍

      @Wrighty  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Simon, thanks mate. I have had a few different systems I must admit lol. I just love messing around with pond filters. The swept T was like that on the Bakki Shower, and I didn't notice it lol, until I took it out. Like you say, I've made it the overflow, so I don't think it'll matter too much. I couldn't be bothered to change it, if I'm honest lol. Thanks mate, and take care, Terry.

      Hi mate, CZcams are driving me crackers😜🤪😝 they can't fix it. The wife's a lot better now, but I'm still sniffing lol. Chunky's back to his old self mate, thank you. I get my PP from Trent Plastics Ltd: www.trentplastics.co.uk/engineering-plastics/polypropylene-rod-sheet/polypropylene-sheet-grey they will cut it to size if you want. It will be interesting to see how the bog filter performs this summer. Thanks mate and take care, Terry.

    Hi Terry I can’t see this working unfortunately, as the plants roots grow and take up space, plus detritus build up this will block up, I’d expect the overflow will be in use within weeks. A false mesh bottom with up flow for the whole length of the bog filter may work better.
    All the best

    Hi Terry super idea yet again but is the sweep T flowing the wrong way ? on the return to the pond as in theory is running against the other flow and not joining the flow or have you done this for a reason ? just asking mate as it may slow your flow rates down

    • @Wrighty

      Hi Ian, That's right mate. I normally switch my skimmer off in the winter, but I'll try to just give it a shore run 2 or 3 times a week to keep the water fresh, or insulate it and the pipework. I was thinking about building a wooden box around it to make it look a bit better anyway. Thanks mate, take care, Terry.

    Just a thought Terry 3 inch slotted pipe running the fluu length capped off externally one end with a removable cap will aid flow through all chambers and will also allow you to purge the bottom of the gravel bed for cleaning maybe he bottom 3 inches in alfagrog or something

      Hi Alan, and thank you mate. I keep the baffles above water level to stop the water just travelling over the top of the gravel, as water will always find the easiest route, as you'll know. If this is successful, I will build a proper one for next season. Thanks mate and take care, Terry.

    Hi Terry loving the bog filter I did something similar to the veg bays on the front pond in putting a layer of alpha grog around the plants which stopped the nats and midges but also stopped blanket weed from building up and choking the plants 🧁👍👍👍
    Irises would be perfect for what you are wanting as they grow well and eat up a lot of the nitrate and phosphate🧁👍👍👍
    Ps
    I'm still having comment issues you'd of thought they would have it sorted by now either that or they do it deliberately 🧁😠👍👍👍
