- A bog filter is a really attractive way to add plants and filter the water in your pond. I found a way to make this a fun addition to my little garden pond.

Nice couple! Thanks for making this video as we are just about to have a pond put in on our farm!
Pond looks great and it's always a bonus when the family is in the video
+shayna cope thanks!
Quite lovely! The colour scheme is really nice too! I'm looking forward to seeing it all fill in :)
that's the BEST time to do outside project's like that as long as it wasn't thundering & lightning I'd
be out gardening in a pond or something, it keeps you cool & you can work 4 hrs.
Very loving tiny pond. Really like the way that every thing was set.
The rocks looks great. I can't wait for another video.
+Adolfo Arrieta my latest live video I go outside and talk about it a bit. It's really grown in well.
“No” 😂 And that aquarium store is AMAZING
Brilliant video - and most excellent garden sandals !
great video thanks for sharing and I'm looking forward to see the final result🌱👍👍
I love that you asked can you help me pull up my pants? That's true love lol
Very nice and enjoyable thank you for your post pekki, well done
Thats a AWESOME pond. I love the location of it right outside your door, you can really enjoy it. Super Nice
+Shelley G. Yeah it's fun to sit on the porch and look at.
I was happy to see you add the corkscrew because I thought it looked cool when you walked by it at the pond store 🤗 Everything looks so nice.
Beutiful pond AND gorgeous plants well done.
With your attitude of the rain, you seem like you are from the PNW. At least, that's my attitude with the rain: if you never do anything because it is raining, then you'll never do anything in the PNW.
Those pitcher plants are incredible. This pond is looking awesome.
+Jarom M yeah this weeks been wet but it was time to get it over with. :)
Looks Great. Ludwigia loves growing in ponds Too.
I cant get over how cool those drone shots were! amazing!
+Allison I can work outside without slipping one of those in. :)
Holly has a delightful laugh!
+Vicki K it's so funny. I love hearing it.
I loved your since of humor
look like your wife had a great time. beautiful pond.
+BigVtheVanity thanks yes we did!
So I’m 3 years late to the party but this is an AWESOME VIDEO !!!! Thank you 😃
Hi Pec.. looks awesome.. I'll be out doing my pond today!! It's so fun to see everyones ponds going in and being set up.. worked on.. spring fun!! Have a wonderful Sunday..
+DebTim A CANADIAN Girl thanks!
What a change in the weather hahaha the pond is looking so fantastic .... I can't wait to get in my new house and get stuck into some outdoor projects 🤗
That sounds like fun. :). I noticed your getting stuck in the spam again. What up with that?
beautiful little Japanese maple!
+Camden Hoppock I love this tree.
Great little pond, enjoyed this video sooo much. Maybe I should finally get started getting my own little pond.
+Henrik Steen it's pretty fun. Like a vacation home for some of the aquarium fishes.
Those are awesome bog plants!😄😄
fantastic vid!! can't wait to see an update.
I think Florida flag fish would be awesome
Very kool
You guys are awesome. Most entertaining pond video that I've watched 😄
Hey thanks!
Great video. The pond section at the aquarium was amazing. Love the colour theme that you have going. Looked a good way to spend Earth Day. Maybe you could try Japanese Rice Fish, Oryzias latipes, if you wanted to try something different. But I love Endlers so that would be cool too! Looking forward to seeing an update in the future.
+bronwenism very cool I'll look those guys up.
pecktec minnows and zebrafish are hardy aswell!!!💪😎😚😊😙😐
Your pond is gonna be sweet 🤠👍🏻
+madcypress L.L. Ohhhh I hope so. I'm excited to see what the plants do.
The last 3 minutes is what I’ve been waiting for. Talk more about that.
You should do amano shrimp with the endlers for algae control
Looks amazing. Great idea!
Great job!😀
+Maaz Khan thanks!
I put a 79cent feeder goldfish in my pond and it lasted 3 years and ate all the algae. Lol great job! Great ideas I want to use!
Thanks for sharing! You gave me a lot of ideas for my pond next spring 👍😊
+Jena Tucker Aquariums it ended up working super well to. Looks awesome right now. I need to do an update before it gets cold.
pecktec yes, please do!
Great project, looks lovely!
love the video
the pitcher plant is one of my favorite all time pond/bog plants, nice color and they help with bugs
+Joseph Pettit how deep in the water can it be? Did it look like I drowned this one?
pecktec i had mine just a little higher but it might be ok. cant wait for update
Looking great! I've read so much about bog filters over the past few weeks, our raised koi pond is getting an upgrade this year, and there's so much conflicting information, prefilter / don't prefilter, remove soil from plants first or don't, depth of the bog, even what gravel to use (I love the internets). I really like this simple approach!
+matthew smith the inspiration pond that gave me the idea (at the shop) uses a full pond filter then sends it up to the bog. I would think some sort of pre filter would help the life of the pump.
Hey ! That's kinda neat ! beautiful little addition to Your landscape. Respect
Thanks!
pecktec I LOVE LOVEY LOVE LOVE YOUR POND!!!😊😊😊😊
You should get another one of those little red trees at 11:21 to shade it from the sun
Love it Sean! Looks great!!!
You can tint the water too to help with algae if you can't put a shade roof over it. Awesome video I need some of these plants for my koi pond.
Very Beautiful
Lovely couple....
At least you had underwire on! Your lady really added to your video! Love her! Looks really good! Giving me ideas! I have some koi that are getting way to big for their tank.
Only thing is I live in the desert.....Nevada.......going to be a challenge keeping the pond cool thru our summer.....I.e. Sometimes 120* F we will figure it out....I hope!
+Catherine Kennedy I bet evaporation would be a big problem to! Wow that's hot!
Very Cool
Sure looking much better at the end of the video. :) Looking forward to seeing how it grows.
WoW are you Lucky, a nice planter water Garden store...Tx does not have one near me...I need one for water Fall.
love the lil bog pond, looks great...blue pond dye will help with the algae, it blocks out the light/sun, so the algea doesn't get so much & it won't hurt any of ur plants..that's if you don't want to do algea treatment which won't hurt them either! ur wife is soooo funny! What was the actual name of the store you were shopping in?
You didnt even acknowledge those Japanese Maples !!!
fantastic :)
+mrAlex thanks!
Careful with mulch around a fish pond. If the die from the mulch makes its way into the pond it will kill your fish. Friends lost their entire pond last year and some of the fish were 10 years+. But looks awesome.
+Joyce Hoffman ok thanks. I did get a little sloppy but I didn't get much in there. I pulled out the couple of pieces that made it in. We had torrential rain for two weeks after so hopefully any residue worked it's way out. My endlers are doing ok so far.
I like what you did, looks good...
awesome , you may consider some barely straw to help with algae and water hyacinth and water lettuce will give lots of shade. enjoy
+Damion Markham yeah I actually bought some barely extract but it's too some to know how it does so I didn't bring it up.
Great video! Loving it.
Nice video...No fish in there..?
Thanks for sharing...
so simpel to make and yet so beautiful, that's the way to do it :)
Very nice. But that may be too much water for the pitcher plant. Keep an eye out for rotting at the base. It likes its roots wet, but not the stems submerged. You may have to elevate it a bit, and get it out from under the waterfall. Overall, a very nice pond!
+ahofftn ok thanks I'll keep an eye out for that. It's my first time keeping them.
I loved this video. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
I think some bright colour Platty would be good with endlers cause they stay small and less aggressive then the sword tails. Plus you can see them good from above and they also nibble on algae too and loves mosquito larva. Oh and Chinese mountain minnows or white clouds. Even some bubble mollies.
+Gabor P I think I'll go for white ☁️ s. I like platys but I think the colorful ones end up as bird food. :0
Oh yeah I for got ..... out doors. Bright colourful fishes ending up as bird food. In a day or 2 you would see gulls circling above your house and they poop all over the place. Good thinking a less colourful smaller fishes would do better. Also safer for them too ! lol
white cloud mtn. fish may be a good addition.
I go to that aquarium! It’s so nice!
Tomorrow is the big sale. :0
Think you should build a big pond liner pond with big filter as you can build nice small ponds
bonsia trees/seeds and plants for beginners but I don't have a filter in my pond, and it's doing well!!!🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Love the drone footage .. i would add " if you have a flexible rubber / vinyl pond liner ... be very careful using a rake to remove algae , you may puncture your liner ". I use a long bristle brush , its safer
I would put some rice fish in there. Ive done a lot of research on them and there is one species that supposedly can do really well in ponds. I'm looking to try them out this year in my pond.
+MarineLifeDrew I'll look them up.
nice vídeo!
Superb video ! What a lovely place to live , i think in your climate , guppys would do well or a mixture of cloud mountain minnows , they will tolerate 5.c . Here in the cold grey UK , your choices are goldfish and ....... err goldfish 😫
You have a beautiful pond. I have a question please. With my pond I have a filter. My pond is 125 gallon. Do I still need to have a bog for it?
Thank you for your video, it's very informative for me, I'm new at this.
pond looks good man . also , your new neighbours house in enormous lol
very nice pond, will you leave any fish you put in there year round?
+Omar Alvarez no I try to drain any pull every body out at the end of summer.
Add rocks into the upper part. Enough to fill it up. Bigger ones on the bottom as filler. Then find a way to retain them with out stopping the outflow at waterfall. I think a new container might be easier. One you can custom cut holes into. Make outflow hole an inch or so under rocks. Plant plants into rocks.
Really nice, dude!!!
thats a cool pond u should put a black moore in it
Excellent. Thank you 😊
Good video, good content, good music.
Thanks!
Fine production team! All a bit too small but seems to work fine! Stay away from going too big but a fine hobby You have and where are the kids? Australia is a good place and the winters are not so bad. I have 3 ponds but like Your waterfall dishes, they are new to me and wish I could get them in black just like Yours and I go a bit higher say 1-2 ft. Richard
Those plants are potted and will get their nutrition from the dirt. To take the nutrients away from the algae you need floating plants with their roots in the water: Water Lettuce and Water Hyacinth to name just two. You are adding some shade, but that's about it Plus that dirt will leach nutrients into the water - possibly making the problem worse.
I like the video with content and rainy effort you put. Yes, I too agree here...You can fill the bog filer with gravel & plant those which will be more effective and adding floating plants keep the algae in control and water clean. This will also reduce evaporation. Also it will be a great idea if you do a video of the store you went, looks like they have good collection.
partially correct, but the option is not only floating plant, there are some of plants that absorb nutrient from water directly in a marginal way, floating plant need alot of surface area, and can be a mess, u can use sweetflag, papyrus, umbrella palm, I plant these plant bare roots completely without soil, just put the roots in the water and stuck it with big rock to hold em, and they grow crazy
small well washed gravel/matrix in the pots will be good also! mine go crazy with pots of just that!
Dicephalous 90 I use the water lilies from lowes that come in pods ,,I think the fertilizer from the lilies are feeding the algae ,,I like the bare roots idea ,,, am I tight about the fertilizer?
Good job will look nice when grown.should put koi fry init I just got four and there lovely for only four pound each
Hahaha! You two sound like my husband and I ❤
You can put some crayfishes there with some blue tetra fishes
+John Wayne crayfish humm. I wonder if they would crawl out.
how about a gazbo over the p ond with benches?
been watching your vids for ages and I was convinced your channel was called pet tec lol
+stevee5 ha! That would make more sense!
What is the model of the tub for the bog and what store carries it?
Sorry it’s been awhile now. We got it from Home Depot.
do you use a UV sterilizer ? it's really helpfull against algea in a pond !
+Jérémy MOEBS yeah that's another thing I may try at some point.
Keep a clean tank, keep a clean pond, and keep your hands clean so you can pull your pants up. LOL! Great video. I enjoyed seeing your wife featured in this one. I need to get my wife to make an appearance on one of my videos. (Turnabout is fair play because I'm in her videos.) A pond, wind chimes, a surfing spider - what more do you need to relax in the garden? Have you considered Rosy Barbs or White Cloud Mountain Minnows for the pond?
+Aquatasy hey you know white clouds are a great idea. I may try that. I hear the bread easily.
That was awesome video ,loved drone shots !!!!
What is mulch?
Would you feed your endlers or just leave them to eat mosquito larvae?
+Aquarium Explorer they mostly eat bugs but I throw some food in every now and then. Mulch is like ground up wood / bark shavings.
Id probably get whiteclouds for the pond.
By the way pectec ive seen in some of your other videos that you keep endlers with a male betta. I have a 6 gallon. Id love to have 3 or 4 male endlers with a betta. What do you think? Have your bettas been kind to them?
+Jack smith yeah mine get along. I try to keep at least one fish with them so they are maybe a little socialized.
I need a store like this in Mexico u.u
very interesting filtration system.props to you on that.hey I'm setting up a large aquarium and I would like to know how to do a water change on a largauarium could you possibility do a video on that with your 55?If so that would be great for me sense I am just a 12 yr old kid
+K43L I have a vid called aquarium maintenance that sort of shows what my routine is like. It's a bit old but still close.
ok thank you
Did saracenia survived in that pond ?
Enjoyed the video and the humor. Planning to to do a bog myself for my problem pond. But my most burning question is who does your hair?
The crack team at Super Cuts. Ask for the pecktec.
Ever thought about adding a small catfish?
+Nevin Howard wow lots of requests for those. I'll do some research.
Get some mosquito fish or rosy red minnows. Super hardy!
I reather have the rain than snow. Right now in Duluth MN it is snowing out.
+Carl Heller oh man that's crazy! It's still snowing?
Carl Heller #michiganlife man
Stringy algea keeps the water clear. Why would you remove it all?
nice video
What type of stone is around your pond and where can I get some?
I’m really not sure as it was part of the land scapeing when we got the house.
So no need to remove the soil from the pots?
