So guys I just got an email from the people at RallySimFans! They're happy that so many of you are interested in getting their mod for RBR but their servers are unable to handle the current amount of traffic (hence a lot of people having issues with downloads)
Be patient and perhaps wait a couple of days if you're interested. It's definitely worth the wait!
Thanks guys!

Interesting thing about that Trabant in real life is that they were rolling it so often they had sponsors on the underside of the car

Well in terms of how big it is, it almost the same car :D but from modern era.
couple years ago, that Trabant raced in the national rally championship in Hungary. The driver was a legend for two things, driving it and crashing it at least once every race
@@armasplaygrounds6355 His name is Kőváry Barna 😀 He is absolutely crazy 😂 let's check out his videos 😁
Yarisn't
Which is magnificent!!
Fun fact about that particular trabant you drove here: It was raced by Barna Köváry in hungary back than, and the codriver had a button at his feet to spray water to the rear wheels making it easier to go sideways. Barna never really raced for time, he just putted up a great show :) And rolled that thing countless times :D
TraBarna is our national treasure! :D
It even had sponsor decals on the underside of the car
This is the type of inspiration we all need to participate in rally irl haha. I'd be down to be my local show off on the tracks if I wasn't such a potato half the time.
Almost endless moddability and a solid core engine made this game immortal it seems
This is GTR2 of rallying..
Agreed. Also I think the game visually has aged well. Sure, it doesn't have all of the bells and whistles, but the overall presentation is clean.
@@ArnoldTriyudho more like rfactor tbh. GTR2 community was already pretty dead in the early 2010s

I really hope Richard is looking down and smiling on what is continuing to be done on the game that carries his name.
In my eyes it's the greatest tribute rally fans could have ever given him and I'm glad the Burns name lives on as such a giant in the sim world
As far as modern WRC is concerned. That period between 2005 and 2007 was a dark time. Had three deaths, one related to a crash. (Michael Park, Richard Burns and Colin McRae).
Hope he is too.
sometimes when I play the game, I'm thinking the same. He gave us something really wonderful.

Dear Jimmy, as part of the RBR community from the very beginning, I want to say a big thank you for your credits and appreciation for the RBR modders and for this wonderful game. Actually the RBR vanilla version was never easy for modders. Figuring out how to integrate new tracks required a lot of reverse engineering work. The fact that there are so many tracks and cars today is a result of the passion of the people behind it. I'm probably not the only one who wants you to know that your words mean a lot to us. Best regards
Thanks for your contribution as modders, the base game was great for it's time but your collective work has made RBR immortal. You will never be in the history books but your work has put a smile on the face of thousands worldwide. Massive respect due 👍

Little Trivia: The Trabant was produced by the VEB Sachsenring in Zwickau. That's essentially the post war remains of Horch Automobile and Auto Union. So this Trabant is actually a weird half brother of an Audi RS6.
FF layout, built by Audi (kind of)… This and the Audi TT… basically identical.

I was finally able to download it this morning and I'm just blown away. Last time I was playing Rbr, modders were still long way from this. I cannot stop driving Skoda 130 LR trough Czech stages ❤️ Legendary mod
If you get into RBR and the rallysimfans (HU plugin) you will love it. You have to realize that it may take more time than a sim like DR2 to setup and get going however. If you want to be competitive you will need to invest in writing your own pacenotes (not that hard) and learning the car and how to set it up. But RBR rewards like no other! There is a learning curve, but its completely worth it if you like rallying!

There's something about this game that's just magical.
I play all kind of Sim racing games, but when in turn on RBR I just can't believe how good this game is.... The stage design is out off this world...
If you didn't play it yet you know what you should do tomorrow :}
Agreed, even vanilla stages are extremely good. This game just puts a smile on you whenever you play, such a legendary game. Even the graphics have aged well, it's very natural and pleasing for the eye, not sure how to describe it but it looks better than many new games in some ways.
Started playing RBR a couple weeks ago, tried to go back to dirt rally 2 and it just didn’t stack up, it just has such a different feel, makes you feel like you’re in one of the wrc car cams

i love the modding community in sim racing. this, assetto corsa, beamng, have been taken so far beyond what they were born as.
The sound of that super straight cut gears are amazing. It even includes a nice solid thunk for the dog reengagement.. plus you can hear the car rattle around.
Jimmer, dude, you're a legend. So proud of you and can't wait to see what is yet to come. You are well on track to one day be the new Clarkson, May or Hammond. At least from this Canucks point of view.

@@bradman7281 his joke, but worse
RBR and Skyrim (plus a Jim Sterling vid demythifying PC maintenance) are what convinced me to jump ship to PC. With no experience, I spent 1 and a half days getting the community version running on Win7 and because of the frustration migraine, dove in on the 3rd day.
I played a few stages but being Aussie, Australia was calling and taking the advice of vets, I just did my best to keep the car on the road, rather than aim for fast times. But I got to the Mineshaft stage and reached a certain incline and thought, "I should be safe to go pedal to metal here"....
I was as immersed as I could be in a game at this point, super concentrated until I reached the top and preceded to launch into the air like fucking Evel Knievel and my senses screamed "Oh, so this is how I die". Heartrate through the roof until I realised right before landing that it was JUST a game and with nervous relief, I laughed my ass off as I watched the car get completely totalled!
After witnessing my not really "near death experience" I fell in love, barely played anything other than RBR for the first 6 months. RBR is STILL the king imo and I thank Vishnu, Richard Burns was born. R.I.P you beautiful bastard, your legacy lives on in this teenaged game
This game is so impressive for 2006
Not really, with all the community mods it's a completely different game. The base game from 2006 isn't even comparable.
It came out in 2004
@@ShreN_ I recently played vanilla RBR, still way more fun than Dirt Rally 2.0.

This has been one of your greatest videos so far and sums up my experience with RBR perfectly.
So funny to see you driving the Trabant. My father was actually driving one of those things in the GDR Rallye Championchip and won some awesome prices like carpets and sausages :D
Actually, “Capo di Feno” is based on Corsica, french island, one of the notorious stages of the Rally of 10000 corners, not gonna lie, happy to see that RB modders included these 😉
There is a very cool new stage that came out recently called "Vargassence". It's basically a close representation or the Vargasen stage. You'll love it.
I just went back to your old RBR videos a couple of days ago, nice to see more of these!
Love the ol' RB Rally vids. Congrats on all your progress, you hard working sim boi you
Would love to see a RBR season on stream sometime soon. Much love
i like this graphic style more than dirt rally 2.0
I could watch an entire channel of Jimmy exploring this modded community content for RBR. All the cars, all the stages, all the audio work for each car.
I only have the original game on PS2 and it remains the most difficult console game I've ever played. My sincerest thanks to all the RBR community for the investment in this sim to bring it to where it is now. It's staggering.
9:38 "it's right there!" - such a classic Jimmer moment
Fun fact: The Trabant won its class at the Monte in the late 60s.
Rallying is the sport for me. So I would definitely watch a series with you playing some RBR! Do the Rally School ;)
I love this sim. When it was released, as a sim "veteran" (GP series, GPL, NR2002) I naturally skipped the Rally School and started a rally straight away.
After the first few corners (and accidents...) I humbly went back to the menu and dutifully completed the Rally School.
Hey Jimmy: the thing about trabants is, that theyre not build anymore since almost 30years now.
but still people reace the chassies in kinda mud/dirt arena races.
In my hometown in germany it's called Stock Car Rennen - but nothing like american stock cars
if ur interestet look up "trabant rennen" or "trabi rennen" as that car is called by everyone from former eastern germany
Jimmy’s video will be very important for the future of RBR community, it will be talked about again, desired, adored, discussed and above all it might be interesting for the games industry to look at this as a reference to be followed, to realize that this kind of realism remains fundamental and put the Arcade of masses a little aside. We hope so!
Arcade masses had been shafted more than the semi sim and sim games tbh. NFS games gone down the shitter for the past several years. The last Wipeout is literally nostalgia wankfest. F-Zero is still forgotten. PGR is gone along with Bizzare's closure. Any Genki and SEGA arcade games are untouched for years.
At least semi sim and sim masses got some pretty good current releases like GT, Assetto Corsa (+Competizione), rFactor 2, BeamNG, as well as countless mods for older games like RBR, GPL, and GP4, while arcade fans only got like what, the mediocre NFS Heat and frankly horrible The Crew 2. Only FH4 is somewhat decent, while Wreckfest is a good FlatOut successor.
I'm stuck replaying SCUD Race for eternity since they decided that arcade means that they have to cater to babies ramming each other.
This game is in my heart this got me to racing games
I do love racing games, and even used to write the guides for them for certain magazines, but Richard Burns Rally is one that slipped through my net.
Until you mentioned it ages ago, Jimmy. So I picked it up on Xbox and oh boy. It is absolutely mind numbingly good.
If this came out on a modern console, it'd still be stunning on account of the detail and realism.
I hope you see this Jimmer, it's great to see so much confidence in your content again! Good luck with Praga!
A 16 year old game with Beamng level of realism driving wise
This game and GP legends are the racing sims that refuse to die.
I think Assetto Corsa will be there in another 8-10 years. Helps that it’s dirt cheap on sale and there’s hella modding support and refreshed visuals.
RBR, GPL, and NR2003 are pretty much the sims that have aged the best and hold their weight well especially with mods.
@@hessZL1 What's your opinion on RFactor? Do you think it's aged as well as these sims?
@@fafiteee rFactor is an interesting case for me. It's a good game, but it doesn't give me the same feeling that RBR, GPL, and NR2003 gives me. It's probably bias, but if I wanted to do some fast road course racing outside of iRacing, I would use the PTA or TPTCC mods for NR2003. That said, rFactor has aged well, but personally not to the level of RBR, GPL, and NR2003.
Thank you for making video about this legendary and best rallysim! I have played this from 2009 and have got much help for rallying in real life! So nice to see this sim is still alive👌🏻
Holy shit! I miss RBR! Remember the tutorial, learning the flick and getting told “You won’t be full throttle often” which was revolutionary at the time
RBR rally school was great, really forced you to actually think about your driving technique
This game feels amazing, and IMO better than most AAA games today
Jimmy, now you got to set up a custom codriver, and I think you'll have some real fun
11:20 you know say what you want the scenery is so realistic. It's not too high rest andthere is not a lot of lighting and reflection effects but the plants and the way they are on t he side of the road and their density is so realistic. It just looks so natural
I've been wanting to play this game for ages... thank you Jimmy for bringing it back into my focus

Great video as always, Jimmer! Loving that GT2 ost at the start
There is the Rallye Wartburg near Eisenach in Thuringia, where the Wartburg cars were built. They sometimes race Trabant and Wartburgs there.
The old East German cars and motorcycles are also still very popular here in former East Germany.

More of these and asseto corsa time attacks, we have been missing this content!!
Network Q Rac was the grandgranddaddy of rally games.
I built a steering wheel out of wood + the guts of an old PC joystick to play that thing. I liked the Impreza so much I saved up and bought one brand new in 1998... and I still have that car.
I havent played RBR before, as a rally fan, definately gonna try (fi-nal-ly)
I think some of the first things I watched on this channel were the Richard Burns series from long, long ago. Amazing game, great video, cool mod.
downloading it right now (i'm coming for you in that trabant league, jimbob) and i'm so hyped. i've only ever played the dirt rallies as far as rally sims go and i'm excited to play the granddaddy when it gets done downloading in three years. and the idea of having just, like, a huge library of cars and stages to fuck around with... delicious. i do need to figure out a way to hard mount my wheel though, because the thrustmaster clamp doesn't like it when i whip the wheel around no matter how tight i get it. i'm bad enough already, the wheel falling off doesn't help (though maybe that's a realistic feature of the trabant).
The Top words in this video:

Man, as a little child in the GDR my father used to have a "Trabbi Kombi" (Trabant wagon) in light blue and we absolutely loved it. Especially when we went downhill and the car broke the 100km/h / 62mph barrier we were like screaming together: " DER KLEINE TRABBI 100, DER KLEINE TRABBI 100!" we were totally loosing our shit back then.
And another Trabbi was the first car i ever drove...

The roof was made from actually p l y w o o d, to save weight and costs.
I sat in Trabants many times when I was little back in Hungary and I can confirm it tops out at 89 kph (52 mph) after you floor it for two minutes.
It depends on the state of the engine (and a bit of RNG luck, being it a zwei-stroke), but trabants that get a good care are capable of going 130 km/h. Of couse, it takes a while to get there, indeed :)
