Man, I got to stop drinking, I thought he said 400k.
That is what started me drinking.
@@willb3018 Haha yeah no kidding! Same here!
It makes a new truck at 60k plus kind of economical.
He did. KEEP drinking!
Roman sell the fleet!! ROAD BLOCK...400k, bartender another beer please... I just want a dually kit.
LOL $400k for one axel, six inch lift, stock 5.3 engine, and katzkin seat covers....no
About 400k starting price for the Merc 6x6. I guess I'd have the Merc. Portal axles. Way better approach and departure angles. Higher water fording depth. And, looks 10 times cooler.
there not saling them in America
you get a hennessey logo aswell
Your wrong..... 8 inch lift.
christian torres no I am not. 6 inch BDS lift, two inches from the tire does not count n00b
Only Hennessy can get a 60k truck, slap 40k worth of stuff, boom 400k price tag.
Yea shits wild, not a fan of there shit
$400k and it’s NOT A DURAMAX?
You can keep it.
Exactly what I was thinking dude
Well it’s a Chevy so yeah it’s got JD powah awards for initial quality that’s all that should matter right? Lol he said Chevy and 400k lol
A $400 000 6X6 truck, and only one diff-lock?! Back to the drawing board...
@Righteous and what have you built sir?
Righteous yea the spacecraft that landed on the moon in Apollo 11 was real dogshit. You seem like a fun guy.
Another lemon
@Righteous "The majority of the engineers were non-Americans" Bullshit lmao. And the von Braun cadre became Americans so suck it commies and Rest of World, there ain't nothing but American flags on the rockets that went to the Moon or on the Moon itself.
@Righteous how many nuclear subs does your country have. How about aircraft carriers? Or stealth fighters? How many electric car companies? How about private space companies? How much green energy solutions do you use? Exactly dude not as many as the USA so get over it
400k no thanks, ill buy me a new Chevy dually for 70k that now can pull 35k, and i can keep 330k in my pocket
They still ugly
Darius Hope I think they look great
they chevy can only pull just over 20k not 30k
Matthew Barnes u missed the point
@@alexbrook9871 I know the point but if you are making a point make it correct
A Lamborghini or a Ferrari go for less than 400k and still have money left over to get a High Country Silverado from the dealership.
Get a Power Wagon. It's a nicer interior IMO, and you'll be able to tow more than a half-ton.
@NEWARK BRICKS yeah... the last 4 or 5 Chevy Silverado pickups I purchased were all made in Mexico, so I wasn't exactly supporting American jobs by remaining loyal to Chevy. I did buy Chevy exclusively for 24 years though.
@NEWARK BRICKS my last Chevy was a 2015 LTZ Silverado 6.2L Tuscany MOAB.
@NEWARK BRICKS think what you will, I've owned every chevy pickup body style between 1973 and 2015. You're the one coming here to troll, nice projection, you must be one of them SJWs that need trigger warnings and safe spaces.
This is way cooler than any lambo or ferrari
Everything in TX is bigger, particularly the price.
Texas doesn't eff around. That's why we're the leaders in everything!!!
The leaders in screwing people over? The death penalty? Pick one... or both.
For around $200k you can have Diesel Power build you a Diesel powered 3/4 ton 6x6.
That with ur own truck cost or they providen the truck in cost that 400k cost was with the provided truck in cost
You could buy a $60,000 truck and probably get this for an extra $90,000. Maybe even less lol...
So if you wanted to, you could do this for $$110,000 if it's a discounted brand new leftover truck.
Please stop giving Hennessy attention.
They haven't stopped since the 90's when he was getting called out on Viper forums for using customers parts on other cars and not delivering cars on time by months, etc.
@@boboso7238 Indeed there is a reason why car forums still use the term "Hennescrewed".
When you have more dollars than sense.
After spending 400k, who’s really gonna take that thing through mud
Arab niggas
The Taliban
Dubais police department
Whistlin diesel would take it though the mud without a second thought
@@minibikesandmowers I was gonna say that lol
This truck's interior better be made with gold and platinum to be worth $400,000.
It's not, its the ever ugly GM corporate truck interior, slated by all known motoring publications for being already dated.
$400k for a truck that has the 5.3 motor? I bet the cost for everything wasn't even $180k (including purchase of the truck.)
Yea wtf
There is also a thing called labor
Labor cost for conceptual designing, labor for the actual build of the truck. Imagine having two people, minimum, working on the truck for $25 or more per hour. Say it takes 1,000 hours of labor between, 3 months, 40 hour work weeks for two people, the two of them. That’s $25k already. The conceptual design, imagine hundreds of not thousand of hours drawing, modeling, phone calls, meetings. I’d put the price tag on conceptual design between $70k-$100k. $185k-$200k could possibly be at cost. $200k Markup is quite a bit.
They had to make all the parts in house.
Chris Ruiz You have the price for the build of the extra axel labor then you have the actual price of the axel then you have the price of installment and the price of the truck
I can’t help but be distracted by johns CPAP mask lines on his face. Just had to get that off my chest 👍🏼
I'll buy my 6×6 from the Diesel Brothers for less than Chevy and I'm a Chevy Fan
MY THOUGHT EXACTLY.... THIS GUY HERE IS A CON MAN...HIS VICTIMS ARE STUPID PEOPLE.... O.M.G.
Indeed
And after driving it off the lot, it’s only worth $50k.
Lol
It's only worth what somebody will pay for it.
😂🤣👍🏼👍🏼
It's unique, but not worth $400k, that's GREED.
It’s the American way.
@@mylifeisJDM honestly.... and this American (me) won't ever buy that ugly truck 🤷🏽♀️
I blame Post Malone's purchase
Nobody is forcing anyone to buy it.
yeah, unreasonable pricing for american products is the reason why made in usa isn't selling well around the world
“I think we nailed it” 😂
Hennessy:We make our trucks expensive AF even though there cant even go offroad
Mercedes:This is even worse than BMW
Watch my ML350 roast this off the line. Was only $29k. If you don’t like hurricanes, then move!!!
But it's not 6 wheel drive! The extra axle is open diff, so it's just gonna spin.
More like an overpriced 6x4
They say that its 6 wheel drive, open differential doesn't mean that not a 6X6.
It's a functional locking diff.
Neil Kardux The OEM axle, not the one they add.
To be fair it might help a little with traction. Not as much as with a mechanical locker but hey if you want it a torsion or Detroit could be added.
How adding an extra axle makes it 18 thousand times more expensive?
Must be magic, or pure greed foe $300k profit
You gotta account for r/d, material and actual build costs
If people are willing to pay for it...
The people building the truck got to get paid aswell and they aint no 15$ hr fabricators
I'm guessing you missed: cutting and extending the frame; custom pass through differential, custom bed, custom suspension; painting; custom bumper; and 4 months worth of labor. If you can do all of that cheaper - jump into the market.
@@buckhorncortez obviously I cant do it but dont tell me all that engineering and fabrication cost 5 times the cost of whole pimped out $70k truck + $100k. I bet you theres at least $200k profit and it's ok if someone is willing to pay for it but come on
I had no freaking idea this thing actually existed! I LOVE it 😮
This is a joke right? He's trying to make up for his financial troubles with a 400k truck worh 60k.
imaging spending 350k on your new truck to add one axle and some seat covers lol
stonks
I do expect a lot more from the interior of my truck if I am spending that much money on it.
@@MegaStephen68 Idk ot would have to be rolls Royce quality for it to be over 200k
To Hennesey's credit, they only need to sell like 3 of these a year to be a million-dollar company... greedy, but god damn if all of ya'll could get away with it, right?
Right
OSTKCabal I’m in the wrong business
That depends on how much he actually makes. Take away the donor truck, parts and labor hours, say $150K. Profit would be about $250 per. So he would need to sell about 4, that's pretty close which shows you how much he is overcharging for these things.
@@gpaje Problem is I don't honestly believe it costs them $150,000 to build one of these things unless they're using some seriously inefficient processes. I think it's entirely realistic, once we factor in the highly likely reduction in price from MSRP for the donor truck, for one of these to cost just $100,000 if manufacturing efficiencies are a concern for them. Even if they're not, I don't really see it costing any more than $125,000. Then there's the simple fact that Hennessey sells a variety of other more popular vehicles/models, so they're doing just fine regardless!
@@OSTKCabal This is a new truck though, so I think the initial production is going to be more expensive until they start building more of them. The Trail Boss 4x4 is probably about $55,000 MSRP depending on trim, then say $40,000 actual price he pays. They have to stretch out the frame, bed and other body parts, paint work etc. I doubt at least just yet the price to produce one is at $100K. That only leaves $60K for parts, labor, paint and body. Maybe after he sells a several to recoup initial R&D and streamline production. I'm not considering the rest of Hennessy, just this particular product and price.
Hmmm, 7 brand new silverados, one for each day of the week, or 1 6x6 I can’t park anywhere
If Hennessy doesn't destroy your car then they'll make sure to destroy your wallet!
BET!!
Was expecting $200. What a shocker.
@@gbot3377 Tone down the sarcasm and quit shilling. I guarantee that any other shop will do this for less than half the price.
@@keon5779 I was agreeing with you on the giant price tag you slow witted weirdo.
@@gbot3377 so you seriously expected this to cost $200? Plus, your use of a full stop creates a sarcastic tone.
I bought a 2007 Peterbilt 386 day cab, 500hp Cummins, 10sp, Jake, all good rubber, excellent body as it used to be a Coca Cola truck. Got it at Ritchie Brothers auction couple of weeks ago for $5,000.
Ok...and?
What if I am A LOUSY driver 😔with more 💰 than brains and can't buy a CDL ? 🤔
@@GIGABACHI you only need a CDL if you are using the truck to transport good AND BEING PAID FOR THE TASK. Aside from that, you can use it personally, for towing(with a "not for hire sign") or around town, no problem. Register, insure, drive.
I’m honestly amazed Hennessey Performance is still in business.... this truck is in no way worth 400k.
There is a sucker born every second 🤣😆
Well it does have hella modifications and it also comes with a new truck so you get 2 trucks
They make their money more on the muscle car side of the business.
Awesome, Mr. Hennessey, glad you did interview, now put a damn triple double roll bar on that beast, that single looks like Godzilla with a g-string!
John Hennessy is one of the biggest crooks is the business. This is a prime example. He did nothing more to this 60k truck other than lifted it a couple inches, extended the axels, wheels, some black out and a few extra accessories for an extra 340k!!! This is starting at 400k lol! Not even a 6.6 Duramax! 😂
I was thinking a duramax be great .
Buy a used kenworth for $10K -30k I wouldn't own a pickup for that price.
Agree 👍
Ram should have built the T Rex, they where years a head of the curve.
I thought they making it
Jesse McRae the Trex was the original 6x6 back in the 90s. Ram is building the TRX which is a Raptor Killer. The TRX is a play on words to be TRex however they are different models.
Andrew Mendoza oh ok. Thanks for clearing it up for me.
The TREX is a beast. Way ahead of their time
true, and at least ram gave it the v10
I appreciate the extra long bed. You can never have too much hauling space. I'd use a 3/4 ton diesel as the donor vehicle. There are plenty of tuning options for a diesel.
I expected SOOO much more for that $400k price tag, what a disappointment. A stock 5.3 and only one locking diff is just insulting.
For less than 1 third of that price I can get a fully built and speced out Dually.
Stock payload numbers , and added 2 K lbs to the truck? So no payload? 😂
Legally they keep the stock payload numbers, It can surly tow/haul more but in order to increase the legal towing/payload limit, the vehicle has to be subjected to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards testing which is expensive and time consuming for what is essentially a show truck.
It’s a joke guys, dry humor. Laugh with me...
Technically you are correct, if gvwr has not changed which he said it hasnt because it hasn't been recertified, then this truck would likely have a payload rating of nothing or negative numbers
@@_ltor Axels wouldn't count towards payload only gross they are not suspended load.
@@rsdna9698 not true, every pound counts towards GVWR, which will take away from available payload capacity. The 2020 1500 4x4 LTZ Crew 5.75 ft bed has a GVWR of 7,100 lbs. Subtracting the curb weight of 5,000 lbs leaves you with 2,100 lbs. Subtracting 2,000 lbs for the Hennessy additions leaves you with 100 lbs. That's enough for a 90 lbs wife to drive to the mall to buy jewelry, but she wouldn't be able to legally run to the store and grab a case of beer for you.
Dodge already had this concept in 1996 called the Trex.
I was crusing thru Kokomo IN back then and saw them testing it on Hyw 31!!!! It was awesome truck!!!
@@paulguerrero972 I wish I could've seen that. Always wanted one since I was a kid.
Had the 8.0L V10 too, what an awesome concept.
*This 2018 Modified Chevy Silverado is actually worth approximately $40K* at the moment.
yeah you're right.
Seems like a hell of an up charge, I've stretched wranglers and obviously this has more into it but not an extra 350k
Who in their right mind spends 400k on a truck and skips the more powerful 6.2 engine 🤦♂️ ! Chevy People !!!
When I first saw these on their site months ago I swear they said they had the 6.2 and a Whipple supercharger. Even with the blower and 6.2 I wouldn't pay anymore then $175 maybe $200k for one. $400k is just absurd.
Or 6.6 Duramax for 400k
@@JesseLJohnson Yeah especially for 400 freaking K. To have no supercharger and top off the line engine is crazy
People with money
More like a really stupid person with money
The G-Wagon 6x6 has portal axles, 4 lockers, a central tire inflation system and a stupid amount of power for its size. None of which this Chevy has. There are several reasons the Merc dropped jaws, this truck seems like a waste.
Actully g wagon has 5 lockers now 2 center difs and 3 axles also it has an amg motor with great tunning potential it has bigger approach and departure angles and breakover angle also it has better water height resistance and is all around way cooler than this chevy. Too bad i can only afford prius c and gas money thi
Another thing that wasn't mentioned was that the G is a great investment too since they are rising up in value. Also, they are built better and have much nicer interiors.
This is the difference between a big company and a small company. The scale of economy is very different between the 2.
@@DAVITALORD 5 lockers? what a gimmick, only need 1 per axle
@@Ckcdillpickle so 3 lockers for 3 differentials plus 2 lockers for mid defferentials rhe ones that connect differentials with driveshaft
Don't get me wrong. These 6X6 trucks look amazing! But with a quad/crew-cab it just looks like a school bus! I'd love to see a build with an extra-cab or single-cab.
That is nuts!!!
14:17 for 400k i would at least like that weld to be grinded down
I hear what you're saying, but doesn't that weaken the weld joint slightly? Perhaps more than slightly...
grinded??
Eff off! We know what he meant. You’re probably the idiot that bought this pos.
For that price tag I was expecting a custom frame not a cut/extended frame, a much capable suspension, and definitely not a repurposed stock g80.
Its pretty cool, but not 400k cool.
And steel bumpers, make the front and rear look a little bit more agressive/custom besides the extra axle
Not to mention that the second axle isn't lockable.
(Also, I saw the steel rear bumper, but the front still should have one too)
Bro I thought this was photoshopped
That’s how bad the car looks
I think it's partly the new body style is a bad one. Chevy hit it outta the park with the 2014,15 model. Not sure why the changed it up again.
Great review!!!!!
It seems like actual cost is 150k for the truck and 250k for the stickers to advertise for a shady con man.
Hennessey makes cool stuff, but after all his reviews, I would never buy anything from them. Ever.
Question, what’s the status of the truck after they cut the frame, does it have to be rebranded or do they get a special inspection since it’s a brand new modified truck?
14:18 Pretty crappy welds on a 400k Truck bumper....looks like they painted over slag
william skrainski
Expensive chicken poop
I thought I was the only one that saw them welds. New York streets will definitely break those.
That stood out like a sore thumb. Sad, that kinda coin and no quality control???????
Yeap i agree they could have smooth down those noticeable welds.
Exactly what I need for my Costco runs...especially in winter. I was relieved when he said the $400k included the cost of the truck.

for that money you can build your dream truck or car, HP is a huge ripoff. the reason why they can't do what say they do because John does not build he pays people to build. If you were real shop you would do 90 percent in house and leave other 10 percent to off site contracts.
the transmission's gearing controls the vehicles overall performance not just the engine, you want fast acceleration put short gears or if you want lots of low end torque or a higher top end speed taller gears work better.
@@wmc128 Sure, but still should have the 6.2L for that kind of money. The reason why he has the 5.3L is it's the only motor available for the donor truck, which was the Trail Boss.
