I'm black, I listen to rock and I also feel like it's like that starter pack for like 2000s where you listen to something like Linkin Park, Breaking Benjamin or like Three Days Grace. It's just part of my character ever since. I used to shy away from it when I was way younger like in elementary school or middle school, but high school was that phase where "I dont care if anyone questions this, if I want the rock I want the rock. Give me my rock bro." Persona 5 was like where I just suddenly like to pick up more genres like jazz and also swing and acoustic music too.

The beautiful thing about rock is it has no formula and has no race. Besides jazz it’s the least corporate genre. I love how when I go to rock or metal concerts I see more black people every time. Unfortunately hip hop and rap has become less of an art and more of a business. I feel like if the stigma that rock isn’t “black” wasn’t so prevelant in the black community there would be a lot more diversity in rock and a wider appreciation for music in general. It’s so upsetting that black people don’t understand that every popular genre that we hear today came from black people. Even classical music has now been heavily influenced by our culture. The Godfather of rock, the man that laid down the foundation for rock, was a black man named Robert Johnson. Rock became whiter because whites took the music and styles from black people and also kept them from mainstream media and different opportunities to expose people THEIR genre of music. We have to look at Chuck Berry, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Big Momma Thornton, Memphis Minnie and Little Richard to see the people who came before the modern face of rock, were playing the best piano and guitar licks you’ll ever hear and it all influences the rock and roll you hear today. And another thing, Country music was also invented by us which steamed from blues. Ragtime, Swing, Jazz, the popular traditional gospel/contemporary gospel you hear, even in white churches, all came from us. The popular hymn, “Amazing Grace’s” notes are used from the “slave scale”. Everything stems from us, and we need to appreciate ourselves and the many contributions our ancestors made. We must educate ourselves on our contributions so that people can’t take credit from our ancestors hard work that they were cheated out of and often forgotten for. We are an amazing group of people, let’s remember it.

I know I'm late to this video.
But I'm a 52 year old black man two adult children and one grandchild I say this because I want you to know where I'm coming from. I grew up and Michael Jackson and Prince were my world. I listen to mostly R&B until High School I was introduced to rock music first man I ever really listened to and I'm still a fan of this Def Leppard second man was probably Motley Crue and it goes on from there AC DC Bon Jovi later on I was there for the whole Seattle Invasion Nirvana and Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam and later on bands Foo Fighters Korn Disturbed Godsmack. But the thing is people act like because you like this music they assume you don't still listen to R&B which nothing could be farther from the truth. Music is music my wife is from Jamaica she's a huge country music fan but it doesn't mean she doesn't listen to reggae anymore period both my children listen to a combination of things. It's just music it's not that big of a deal race should never have any factor in what you choose to listen to our like

AC/DC and kiss are not heavy metal bands bro those are regular rock bands lol and Korn is considered to be Gurng music from the 1990s lol now what I would consider to be heavy metal bands are groups like iron maiden Black Sabbath the early motley Crue Judas priest and then you have the even darker metal bands that will be considered black metal such as gothika mayhem now those are some sick and twisted dark ass metal bands

Black people HATE rock n´roll, and i´m talking real rock n´roll, also i don´t know why, black people HATE blues and jazz, maybe some might like a bit of funk, but in general, black people only like R&B or hip hop., but i really don´t know why black people hate blues or jazz, in contrast white people love black blues and jazz, is a strange situation but a real one., my theory is that black people don´t like music that brings them down, but music that keep you up

@@61TOOTSIE because these idiots nowadays are very delusional and don't want to know about the history of where rock and roll came from because I can tell you all where it came from it was created by a black woman not a black man her name is sister Rosetta tharpe she was the first woman to ever pick up a Gibson SG in the mid-1940s and early 50s to start playing those very famous rock and roll licks that was very popular in the 1950s mid-1950s to be exact there's a full documentary video on CZcams about her when you guys have a chance check it out sister Rosetta tharpe and she died in 1973 no cap all facts! 💯👍🥁😩🥁

It has always confused me as to why black people hate a music we created? It really shows how our own people are not very knowledgeable when it comes to music history the black community only knows about hip hop and r&b that's it but they don't know anything about rock music they seem to forget that we created the music genre after all Chuck Berry was the first ever black rock musician and we have had so many different black rock musicians that have come after Chuck Berry there's a list of them that I can name off but I would be sitting here all day the "rock music is for white people" is stupid as someone who is a rock and metal enthusiast I can't tell you how many times I have ran into people who have used that stupid argument but I ignore them I enjoy listening to the entire genre itself there is a lot I get out of it that I don't get out of hip-hop.

Rock music was influenced by blacks in blues so there shouldn't be a reason black folks should feel somewhat embarrassed by it. Yes it's considered mostly white people music type for many people but hey just listen to what you like it would be pretty cool to see more blacks involved in rock music and don't get me wrong there's many black listeners and musicians just isn't enough so it's cool to listen to people who enjoy it 🤟🏻

Love me some rock music; there is some Nu-Metal like Limp Bizkit and a group named Dislocated Styles that had been cool fusing different genres of music into one. Cypress Hill, (rock/rap) of course you all see who is in my avatar. I just like guitars and drums and can play the guitar (acoustic/electric) never cared what other people thought about it.

Rock and metal isn’t “white music” that’s racist. I feel sorry for the black girl or boy getting grief from his or her peers, family for listening to metal. shame on those who persecute them, so much for your church, Christian Hell preaching communities living in fear of an Angry God, and I know what I’m talking about hear, a d while I’m at it stop crucifying your kids with your Gehenna attitude because they’re lgbt as well, if that’s applicable, there’s Hell on earth, that God is trying to get us free from, Love Wins!
