You are doing a great job there Nick and it sounds a real chore hauling that anchor on and off the boat. As you say, an electric winch would make thing much easier. I am learning and realise it's not just a case of setting sail as their is more to it than that. Knowledge of wind speeds, tides, water depth use of compass and ship to shore coms all play a part. đđł

disappointed you didnt record from Pwllheli through Bardsey sound, round south stack into Holyhead. Two tricky areas to navigate!
I know :( I caught the tidal flow correct on both though and was steaming through and round Holyhead

Hi Iâve just found your channel I see your wind masthead unit is on the pushpit do you still have a good reading with it there, only asking Iâm doing up a sailing boat without any wind instruments and was thinking of using a weather station on the pushpit. Thanks steve
Hi đ and welcome. So my boat when I bought it only had a weather vane on mast, I bought a raymarine vane and transducer wireless version. But prior to sailing the boat to its new harbour I didnât get it mounted in time to the mast so temporarily mounted on rear rail. It worked ok but have just had this now mounted on the mast. I have seen a few mount on a pole at the rear but imo it would not give accurate reading like on top of the mast. Cheers Nick
I have a Bavaria 37, recently bought, it's minus a sprayhood. You mentioned replacing yours in your last video. I guess the size would be the same so I'd be interested in your old one. Mine was a C& J like yours. My genoa isn't so good, am looking for another, if you or other owners have a spare to sell.

You may have never 'owned' a sailing yacht, but it doesn't look like it's your 'first rodeo' if I'm honest. đ Here's a prediction...After a few sunny weekends in the right locations on the boat, the girls will never be nagging you to ride on the pillion ever again...just sayin...đ€Ł Interested to know why you chose a sailing yacht instead of a motorised yacht given your previous experience? Will you be teaching your girls to dive? Now, that would be interesting viewing for me.....(Divemaster since 1996)
Hi Paul đ boats have been a thing for a while with diving days. I chose a sail boat due to us renting one last two years in the med and liked the feeling of just the wind. Girls will both be learning to dive yes. đ once the boat is ready she will sail down to the med where we will keep her there.
