      I was strictly on "letgo" or "FB marketplace" because I didn't wanna bother with shipping and online scammers but I put up a pretty popular Jura coffee maker I got for free (I know, lucky me!) And it was gone within a day. They got it this weekend. Although I'm very patiently waiting for feedback, I am so glad I made the jump. My options for what I can sell just went way, way up!

      You are probably referring to the cost of shipping in general, however I can definitely say eBay cost is less than going to the post office and they could not have made the process easier to print a label and ship.

    Thanks for video. I learned about the larger envelops available thru USPS from you! Will order some. My question is this: I always put in exact weight, but just opted out of global and am trying USPS first class & PM internationally. Do you ever add a few ounces to make sure you collect enough? Especially internationally? Or do you even know, given you showed you used global. I know a seller and saw a video of another, who inflate weight ALOT to make sure collect enough and always come out ahead. I only want enough to pay for Label or maybe a 50cents leeway to make up for just some of my paid for shipping supplies. Like labels, tape, peanuts, fragile stickers, and INK. never made anything for those to date.

  • @Michael-fw5ef
    @Michael-fw5ef Před 6 lety +1

    When I sell on Ebay, I calculate the cost of shipping to the furthest destination. I am in Canada, so I calculate what it will cost to mail a package to Vancouver. I then add that to my price and list the item with free shipping. It is the easiest way to do it. People will search on Ebay for free shipping, so imho, always add shipping in and list your item with free shipping.

    If I use poly mailers, are they considered envelopes or packages? Those are the only two choices I have on the calculated option. Also, if you have a small item in a bag that is larger, do you roll it up and tape it so its smaller and if so how do you measure it to calculate?

  • @WeTryYouWin

    Thank you for this video. Very informative. You show label sheets - 2 labels per sheet. I have just begun selling on eBay and just sold my first 2 items. I printed labels on just plain white paper and then taped them to the pkg. The label which printed for me had to be "cut on the dotted line" above the dotted line was the label and below the dotted line provided Online Label Record showing to whom I had sold the item and a description of the item. So if I utilized the adhesive labels like you show, it seems as if the "cut on the dotted line" portion would print on the second label part. I hope you understand my point. Am I doing something wrong when I request the label to print on eBay? Thank you for any help and happy selling!

    • @HustleSlow
      @HustleSlow  Před 6 lety

      You can either have it print that receipt or you can set it to print 2 labels per page (when doing bulk shipping). I like to keep all my info digitally (ebay stores it all for a certain amount of time) so I opt out of the receipt printing.

The Regional A ships at the 2 pound rate no matter what it weighs. The Regional B ships at the 4 pound rate. There are 2 sizes of each. When we anticipate using them, we list Priority at either 2 or 4 pounds and never lose money plus the customer saves on shipping making your item perhaps sell vs. the same item from another seller. Thanks for the tips.

    Hi, what USPS priority mail package/box would you recommend for shipping stuff like hoodies? They don't quite fit in the padded envelop.

    • @HustleSlow
      @HustleSlow  Před 6 lety +1

      If I can stuff them into a padded I do! Otherwise it's hard to say. I usually give the customer an option between a medium flat rate box or regular priority mail (priced by weight) and put it in a large polymailer or I use one of the USPS shoe boxes.

    • @HustleSlow
      @HustleSlow  Před 6 lety +1

      Depending on where they live and the weight one might be cheaper for one customer and the other may be cheaper for another so I just add both options to my calculated shipping options on the listing :)

    I find that its much different selling from Canada then from the U.S.; you explained it very well, but when I go on my own screen to calculate buyers actual amount for shipping I have like 0 options, unless i just want to send them letter mail.

    why is it when i use calculated shipping and i use ebay to buy and print the label it still cost me money after the "Buyer" paid the shipping. it will say buyer paid $2.50 for shipping then i go to buy it and it say its $5.00 to ship it? every time i use calculated shipping it cost more to ship than what the buyer paid to ship? i dont get it. can anyone help?

    Thanks for the video, great info. I have a question, when shipping items like for example a digital camera. When listing, do you weigh the camera in a the box with the protection material. So would you for example place the camera in a box with the styrofoam or peanuts, then the customer will calculate their shipping from that total weight? Thanks for your response and time.

    • @HustleSlow
      @HustleSlow  Před 6 lety +1

      Yep! I always include the total weight that will be shipped when listing the item so if it's a camera I would pack it in the box with all the protective packaging exactly how it would be shipped and then weigh it that way. Then I would choose calculated shipping to choose different methods for the customer to choose from and ebay will calculate it for them. If the item is heavy (over 1lb) and will fit in a flat rate box I will always give that option too because in some cases it's cheaper.

    Hi. Can you ship priority in a poly bag? You can weigh it but how do you get the measurements. Do you put it under small or large package depending on what? Or is it better to send it in a flat rate priority box? Most of the things I will be mailing in a poly are plush toy.

    • @HustleSlow
      @HustleSlow  Před 3 lety

      You can ship in a priority bag and you just guess approximate dimensions. A large package is VERY large, like a big box. You can check the USPS website on how to measure to see if it's considered large. A flat rate box is fine, it all just depends on where your buyer is located and which is most cost effective.

    Hey so just starting to sell on eBay I’m wondering is it better to put free shipping and then factor shipping into my price? Or is it better to give a price and then add on shipping after. Also when factoring in my price, for shipping included products, how do I know what shipping will cost if I don’t know where the person lives.

    • @harshlarose6670

      You always have the option to invoice the buyer and revise the shipping method and price. This is especially useful when combining shipping for multiple items. I've listed both with free shipping and a price. Sometimes I feel free shipping is more attractive to buyers because they don't have to add item price and shipping together to determine value of of the purchase or how much they can bid to achieve the value they want.

    Thank you for your reply. I am still confused about plain poly bags with things that make it impossible to get measurements (plush toys). When you go to list it asks not just for weight but also for measurements. Can you list by weight only? And if so how? Thank you for your help and for the videos.

    hi - im just learning a lot of stuff and am a newbie - i once sold a watch and got screwed on shipping bcuz i went along w ebays automatic calculated estimate b4 item even sold so i listed that estimated shippimg cost but how am i to know where im shipping to ahead of time - im in california and maybe someone from east coast buys - then what - also they encourage to do free shipping to get good ratings - how in the world would that work...

    • @HustleSlow
      @HustleSlow  Před 7 lety +14

      When people do free shipping they just add in the shipping cost to their price. I prefer to use calculated shipping so the buyer just pays exactly what it costs and I don't have to do any guessing or mental math.

      trying to figure this out, so a shirt or single piece of clothing costs 6-7$ to ship, how on earth do you make a profit? Do people pay $15-20 for a shirt? Trying to figure out if I sell on Ebay or donate my nicer items.

      hi - so Ebay guesses since they don't know the destination until after an item sells ? Why use a flawed system ? This reminds me that I've asked a few sellers why their shipping is so high for a small item. They'll reply that Ebay claimed that's their shipping amount. Is there any way to avoid using calculated shipping ? I'm new too, well anyway, I did used to sell but it was years ago and now things have changed. I plan to ship only within the USA.
      Thank you -

      Ann R. From my understanding when you are signed into eBay and you are looking to buy an item and the seller has chosen calculated shipping, eBay knows YOUR zip code from your account information so it knows how much shipping would be from the seller to you.
