I run a men's clothing boutique on Ebay and a used book business on Amazon. I source my inventory from a variety of sources and document my experience and talk about the business. If you have any questions or comments please leave them in the comment section and make sure you subscribe for more videos!
Thank you SO much. Very helpful. Just ordered a variety of boxes and bubble mailers as I was listening to you. Second month of selling and off to a great start. Again, Thank you for sharing your experience.
ive just started ebaying myself for a month, and i think i have been doing it wrong, i swear almost $200 down the drain.. i always ship it in those flexible poly wrap and you are right it looks super Ghetto.. Ive learn alot watching your video, BIG THANK YOU FOR A FREE EDUCATION VIDEO..
Thanks for sharing Andrew! Please, make these videos for us that actually want to learn and forget those that know everything!
I haven't gotten started shipping yet, so I cannot fully appreciate the value of the info in this video. I do appreciate the pace, quality, and clarity of speech in the video.
I'm really really enjoying this kind of content! Keep it up! Your content has improved a ton over the past few years! :)
Great content. Thrilled to see a regular professional seller bag, fold, and store in bins vs. hang on a rack for inventory storage. I am just starting out and was hesitant to use the bag storage method for suits due to a concern of wrinkling. I'll be bagging it. Thank you for the video.
I'm right there with you in regards to not using cheap packaging tape. I started out initially using Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping tape, ran out and didn't have time to wait for an Amazon order , so purchased that Duck tape, big mistake, had to use 3 times more of it to feel like my package was going to make it intact safely to the buyer. Now on I make for sure to keep my Scotch tape supply in excess. :) Good informative video Andrew, thanks for your time creating and for sharing!
thanks for making this video i like the way you explained and demonstrated every thing.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP AND FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE. A LIFELONG SUB!
Agree with you on all aspects with regard to shipping in boxes. I'm into selling shoes and use the USPS boxes and love them. I purchased a pair a few years ago and received them in a poly bag...seriously... spoke volumes to me as seller about how I want my items received by the buyer. Started using boxes and have not looked back since. Love the video. Would like to see how you fold them prior to placing in poly bag.
This is so detailed! Thank you so much
Really good video, provided me with some new thoughts, thank you (y).
Great info! Thanks! Can you do a video on how you store all your inventory and system in finding them! Thanks so much!
Thank you very thorough information for a new seller like myself!
Very informative. You are so right about presentation.
So glad came across your video. Excellent! I am very new to Ebay. I went out and purchased boxes at Staples. Each time I bought to post office was told the ground and priority was the same price, and the package was stamped Priority Mail, didn't know that there were priority A boxes. Only thought boxes were only for flat rate. You saved me money! Can you share where you purchase your supplies such as the bags you put your items in? I hit it big at a thrift store and have tons of suits and suit jackets and shirts to sell. Haven't put any up yet since want to do the right way. Thanks for sharing! P.S. I am going to check out your other videos, hoping to find how to fold....
This is a great video that in only 30 minutes time manages to explain how to compress the air out of a package, place it inside a postal service box, seal it up, and weigh it. It is MUST viewing by anyone who cannot pour pee out of bucket but who intends to be a reseller. I highly recommend this video for those kinds of folks. Everyone else may want to skip it and find a more informative video that teaches more of what you need to know.
While what was covered was well stated, for its length this video could have given a new user TONS more useful info. It is clear by the many comments posted many viewers are left with lots of unanswered questions, nearly all of which SHOULD have been answered in a video of this length.
A point not even made in this video is that non-USPS boxes, such as Ebay's own boxes that it sells or simply generic boxes sold by many other sources, will almost certainly ship cheaper than using USPS boxes, especially if you compare costs among many shipping sources, such as Fedex, DHL, UPS, or others. The Postal Service may bring you free boxes so that saves the effort and cost of buying the boxes but they don't transport them as cheaply as many other shipping companies. Essentially, you can put a prepackaged item like a blazer in any box that it fits in, so why increase your total shipping costs by using USPS for everything. It pays to compare! And yes, there are times when USPS is competitive for certain specific packaging, weights, and distances.
The problem with using USPS boxes is you cannot use them elsewhere. If you buy generic boxes, you can pack them just the same as a USPS box and EVERYONE will take it, including the post office!
Finally, most resellers are not shipping out prepackaged suits, blazers, and such. They came here wanting to see ways to fold, pack, and ship loose garments and found instead a video on how to drop a prepacked item into a box! NOT all that helpful, particularly since everything shown in this video is a relatively small, compressed package to start with. What lots of shippers face is how to ship bulky, heavy items such as winter coats, overcoats, overalls, hunting clothing, waders, jumpsuits, and a host of other garments that don't already come in a small sealed plastic package!
Thank you - this was a big help
This was super helpful, thank you
Great stuff! Shipping out a puffy GAP vest on Tue. TFS!
This was soooooo informative....Tank you!!!
great video, right to the point.very helpful, you are very thorough.do you have any video's on how to choose wholesellers,or where to start buying as a newbie ??? thank you.
great info thank you, buddy, you are great man bless you
Good stuff Andrew.
Ur the firzt.one I see use boxes...thats great just cause their gently used doesnt meant just stuff it in a box...I would buy from u again just.cause ur so professional in ur shipping
I am a newie to all of this but I have been watching so many different videos on how to sell on EBay, your the best so far and u explain a lot more than the others.
One question on which website can I purchase the clear bags
Thank you, very helpful!
Thanks & found lot of good information underneath your video too, keep up the good work, I'm gonna need it, just starting! Subscribed One thing I'm afraid of is having my boxes stolen while they sit on my porch. Ever happen to you?
do you have an efficient, professional way of folding the suits to fit the packages ?
I like the bag for all the reasons you mentioned. :)
Great Video! Thanks for all the info. Regional B is also an option for large and more weightier items. Your Maryland shipment was $0.17 cheaper to ship Reg. B. No big deal but in some other areas it could save a few bucks.
The one thing I am interested in that you didn't cover was how you folded the suits before put them in the polybags. I have not used the polybags because I was afraid the prolonged time of being folded would put big wrinkles in the suits but I am guessing you haven't had a problem with that.
Thx again Andrew!
I have had only two complaints ever, and it was because of using a padded flat rate envelope, not the clear bags
Hey! reallygreat video. I wish you listed the links for each box you used tho. It will really help a ton!
Great video, thank you!!!
Thanks! First time watching...great communication. I'm curious why you didn't mention using a Regional B box. I know it's larger than A...at what point would you consider using it? Thanks again.
I really enjoy your videos and appreciate that you don't try and sell a video or book at the end!!
Question ,Are you shipping the a whole complet suit coat or is it the pants an the coat included in them regional a boxes?
Hello, can you tell me what are the bags that you always use that you said were about 15 cents per bag? Thanks. Great video!
Question, what camera do you use and what lens is on there? Your images are incredible, the amount of detail your pulling out I mean. Thanks for your reply in advance.
Thanks! Great info...
How about to Vancouver
Canada? Ever ship there?
@Picking Profits
The clear bags you use are no longer in stock on Amazon. Do you have an alternative place you're ordering them from? If so, please share a link!
Great video, and a huge help! Very informative!
Thank you so much!
Lisa
Learned so much
Just wondering if you dry clean or otherwise clean the suits that you sell?
If you're using boxes to ship, are you charging shipping to the customer? Do you state in your description what the s/h is?
Do you ever use the Tyvek Mailing envelopes legal size to ship clothing? I do and only once was the package stopped by the USPS.
This was a great video and I really learned a lot. I am a bit surprised that you offer free priority shipping on all your items. Have you ever run a test on your store by not offering free shipping? Also, do you find that suits or sport coats ever get wrinkled when storing them in the poly bags?
Can you get these boxes at the post office? Id like to ship the day of the order and waiting to get the boxes can take a few days...
on shipping, does ebay require a 5×6 label our can I go smaller?
thanks. Debs Dream Store
thank you!!
Thank you. 🙂
This is what i don't understand. So I'm listing a 2-1 Long Down Parka Jacket with Faux Fur Hood. It weighs about 2 lbs. I folded it nicely in tissue, and put it in a 24 x 24 polymailer. I was able to fold it and push it in a Large Flat rate box, but since I don't know where it is going, how would I know if I can use the Regional B box??
How do you fold the suits to fit into those nice polly bags?
Where did u get the plastic covers to cover ur items?
Do you need stamps? I went on the usps site, and right next to "order a box" is "Get Stamps". Is it necessary?
Can I still use the Priority Box issued in 2014?
Can these same shipping and packaging methods work with a brand new suit I'm selling?
Thank you
Ironically - hello from Texas. I'm a new seller, about 3 months now, and am just starting to get a handle on shipping. I started selling with men's clothing - a lot of heavy sweaters and sports jackets. I did purchase a set of 25 boxes - 16 x 12 x 4. They're perfect for some of the bulky items that won't fit in the padded flat rate. I'm finding that the medium flat rate usually costs me more than sending out in my own box. I also have a good supply of various sizes of the bubble envelopes, which again are usually cheaper for me to ship in. I still have a lot to learn. This is a great video. Thanks for making it.
Would you do a video on how to change the shipping charge for the customer when you combine objects. I had one customer where I felt I had overcharged her on the shipping so I gave a small refund back through PayPal. Since she paid for the shipping when she purchased, I didn't know how to change it.
I have a question, I don't sell on ebay but sometimes sell things locally on apps, and I know nothing about clothes so I was wondering if you could tell me if something I have is worth any money. It's a green lady's button down coat and its 100% wool The brand is Donnybrook and it says its made in the Ukraine. I figured you might know.
Also good call on the scotch tape. May not be much of an issue with USPS but for stuff that goes through UPS or FED EX I would definitely use good tape and pad your items well (within reason) I can't tell you how many boxes break open during the sort at my job. Packages can go through total hell at shipping hubs before they get to you. I see it every day.
do you put suede in a plastic bag to ship it?
Boxes get wet and soaked and if any one smokes on the way that leaks...I learned this hard way with my items I have gotten ...few put in plastic bags...do you charge customers shipping?
do you use 1mil or 2 mil clear poly bags?
What is that plastic you put your suits in...and where do you get it...and how much does it cost? Thank You
You said you have new clothes. Where do you buy them? Do you buy them on clearance?
Where do you get those bags
I started ebay selling last spring. Summer was ok, thinner items to ship. Now fall, winter is approaching, I want to sell fleece tops, winter coats, thick sweaters and jackets. I know you are selling suits and blazers. But honestly I can not find anyone who is selling thick fleece etc and made videos. If you were selling thick fleece (long sleeve and Big & Tall size) that doesn't fit in regional A box, would you send it in big poly mailer? And that price should be same as regional A box? (It's price determines by weight and destination, right?)
I really hope hearing from you. Thank you for this video!
What's the name/model of your printer? I've been contemplating on investing in a thermal printer to help reduce the time I spend packing my orders. How reliable is your printer? How expensive are the labels? Thanks for your help.
I thought priority large box flat rate didn't include weight...you mentioned at 24:11 that it cost more when you added the extra cardboard...What did I miss?
What size of those poly bags would you need for a men's full length trench coat? Like a London Fog...would the 12x18 be sufficient or is something larger needed? Thanks, learned a lot. Thanks for taking your time.
A 3 piece suit is a close fit. A top coat or a thick trench coat would likely need a far larger bag. I actually have not had to deal with that yet so Im not sure how I would ship that.
I'm curious, does the buyer of the item pay the shipping or do you? If you do, do you increase the price of the item to compensate for the shipping? If the buyer does, then do they get to choose the type of shipping? Probably dumb questions to you, so I apologise! Thanks!!!
I'm listing while watching this video. Under shipping in my template, "Regional Rate Box A" isn't in the dropdown list. How do I choose it?
Hey Bro, thank you for sharing this information. I recently purchased my first suit jacket (Balenciaga) at a local Goodwill store. Have you had any experience selling the brand? The tag inside the pocket has Korean letters, do you think is fake? What do you recommend in terms of listing the item on eBay?
Yes. Amazing brand but nobody even knows what it is so nobody is looking for it. You'll struggle to get more than $20 for it. That would be my guess. That's just how it is.
Thank you for this information! The link to your mannequin isn’t working. Would you mind commenting it? Thank you!
I'm just getting started on ebay and I understand how you determine the shipping price when you sell an item. But what is confusing me is that when you initially list the item for sale you have to give a shipping price. How are you determining that shipping price???
He might be offering free shipping? He is talking about how much money he is saving by using the cheapest type of shipping method per buyers location. So I'm assuming he is offering the buyers free shipping and he has it factored into the price of his items.
Weigh the item using a scale....$20 from Amazon. The Ebay platform works with USPS technology to determine the shipping cost from your zip code to the buyers zip code. This is done automatically if you choose the option to have the system calculate shipping. You can also calculate shipping yourself similarly by going directly to the USPS website. I calculate shipping from my zip code to the west coast..like 90210 zip or choose a zip code from Washington state or Oregon to get an idea of how much to charge. Then you can then charge all buyers the same flat rate since it will cover buyers between your zip code and the west coast.
It's late December 2018. Will the Post Office continue to carry Regional boxes? I'm in Phoenix and I've never seen a Regional box. They must only be available online from the USPS.
You have to order them online - the post offices do not carry them at all
is that a fish eye lense camera? When you reach back, it looks far away and looks like you have a baby hand.
Have you had packages stolen from the buyers porch? This happens a lot in California.
Where can I get these plastic bags?
This video is a year ago I know I'm always behind anyway your feet who bag is that the correct leak on when I click on the link to Amazon has $13.50
Good info! I've been selling since 05 on eBay. Its quite unpredictable. I've started following you. I've been trying to ramp up my store. Hubby's retired now so I need to get listing! Your store looks great. Do you ever do auctions? I think they bring in more visits to your store.
By the way the best way to get the air out the bag it's not pressing down I either get a needle or a pen and prick a hole in it and then let's all the air out the bag
And how's that going to protect when you get leaks
I'm learning and am confused 'ok when you print your labels but have chosen a box with a flat rate. You say their ready to ship. Where and when did you pay for that flat rate? Does it charge to a credit card? I haven't found a video that explains that part' PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!
You pay when you buy the label. Either from your PayPal account or whatever you have set up.
FYI eBay/Paypal require signature confirmation on shipments of $250 or greater to be eligable for seller protection.
Good point I will perhaps make an in depth complete walkthrough of everything to do with shipping some day. There are a lot of details that a lot of people don't know about including myself obviously.
Bill Bam
Hi I watched full video for shipping and that was really helpful.
Thanks for helping new sellers. I would like to know some selling tips on ebay for clothing.
Thanks again
Can u use ur own boxes with usps priority mail?
Yes, you can even cut up and make combined cardboard boxes to make a “frankenbox” just stay under size limits.
I like the fire hazard on left by electrical plug
Is that the best fucking comment that you could come up with?
That's what she said....
You reposted your video so I was unable to read your comment back to me about putting together two priority mail boxes
Unfortunately there was an issue with the audio/video sync which sucks because it took forever to fix. Anyhow... I have been shipping that was going on 6+ years and know several full timers who do this also. I do not, however, combine any other box other than standard priority mail boxes. No regional A, no flat rate, nothing else.
I honestly do not remember if it was flat rate or just regular boxes. I guess the person who I argued with was just being a stickler.
If I see one more person try to ship clothing in a flat rate paper envelope I am going to lose my mind. Those things tear because they were made for sheets of paper/documents and not clothing.
update your video Regional A & B gone!
i like to use these bags.....the reason I use these bags....WHAT ARE THEY CALLED??? LOL.
Damn 30 mins
I never overstuff the packages because when you try to open it you can rip the product.. Sometimes people have to use ✂ to cut the package open.
Thank you for your effort , but all I see is your face in this video I dont see the difference among Boxes.
Polybags for Suits, Sport coats, & Blazers - amzn.to/2l66znZ
Shipping Scale for Ebay & Amazon - amzn.to/2mdinkE
Heavy duty shipping tape - amzn.to/2mdxz1e
Thx for all the links at the top also they are helpful.
The problem is how will you address customer complaint if he did not pick/ collected shipments or someone steals it. What is the evidence ?
I am so confused. I am trying to find Polybags for suits like you showed in your video but the product is no longer available from Amazon, Where can I get them. I want to ship blazers and suits because I have a wonderful collection of vintage couture.
