      Thanks @Alex Johnson - We do this type of development work for every Brock's performance exhaust we sell, and have for many years. Our biggest issue is that we don't have access to bikes early (like the bike guys) so we have to start product development after the bikes hit dealer floors - it takes us a little longer, but the wait is worth it.

    Outstanding Brock. All that hard work, and video editing, people have no idea. The sound of the Alien Head 2 exhaust was beastly, an experience in of itself, wow! 190-195 hp range with huge torque after tuning with the Alien Head 2 on pump gas. So we probably have 190+ hp on pump gas for Predator Exhaust Titanium (road racing), 15 lbs less weight, and great sound. Suzuki nailed it, from stock to Brock, I love it. This bike is going to be amazing on the track, untouchable with the right rider, both road racing and drag! After watching this, I think I'm going to have to set my traction control 1 setting safer when all is bolted and dusted :-) Dang what a machine!! Nice Brock, very nice. It just keeps gettin' better.

      Hello Brock, love your videos bro. My question to you is; I just bought a new 2017 250cc Formula sportbike; i love the design but, i,am a little worried that it maybe a little under power because i had a 600cc sportbike before and i,am afraid that i might have bought a bike thats going to be under power than what i,am used to. Can i do any power upgrades to enhanced the speed of my 250cc sportbike to my liking.

      I am going to need save a bit, it was with a little help from my Dad---who I care for, only reason I accepted his help, least I can work it off, but when I do save enough, Be sure I will definitely be Going From Stock to Brock. I mentioned your series to the salesman, got a big grin, found out that he races, has an '88 GSX-R750 looks really good in the pictures he showed me, says it is going from what it is now to Brock and more, I knew of the track up island (Vancouver Island) but he goes over to Washington State says there a Track on the Olympic Peninsula he goes regularly, has a great straightaway tells me can get up to full speed--(I always take with a grain of salt, am 50 not,.... :) but does sound good) Thank you for the reply I mean everything I say. Would you recommend the Zero weight Alisyn and Petron for the first change and thereafter??

      @99gsxrboy - Please don't let 650Ib's slowness let you create a false impression of this bike. I LOVE the guy, but he is too big to be racing 1000's and, especially taking apples vs. oranges races. Our new gixxer is already producing power numbers equal to or better than most modern 1000's, and we still haven't tuned it yet or done any of the other things we do to make bikes 'race ready'. We will have this bike flying a soon as all of the parts and tuning capabilities are available.

    34hp holy shit. Hahaha thats a huge gain for a customer when comparing to out of the box. (Ecu flash obviously helps a lot) but seriously people were already comparing these and they were fast because of the way they produce their power in a very liner fashion. With a top end now to boot on it, it is going to be an absolute weapon.

    Brock their was a day long long time ago back in 1980, my beast the H2 750 with Denco Chambers it was so dam loud that you couldn't hear the space shuttle, lol. Them were the days I would go to Lang Hindles garage watching him fabricating Headers for his KZ 900 along with KZ1000. Back in them days if you built it right you got big power out them pipes, but major pain in the ass jet remember Lang had large board from everything from pilot jet , air, jet,, but most important the needle jet shims just get it spot on. For top end performance I was the Ginny pig that would go on the highway have screaming every year till 4th cut the engine pull over side remove all 4 plugs just to see the colours. We've come a long way not only the nightmares of having them run well, but today pipes are built so well so much R&D goes into them. Mostly great weight savings nice sound. Yet to see a pipe give out over 20 HP like golden era of superbike. Brock I been trying to work on bikes from the triples no Suzuki's, lol, when things really heated up 80s big bore love that GS 1150, to real superbike days 1985 that the year we owe all this to that era. Great job Mr. Davidson love learning from you real have great gift even the squids can lean a thing or two from you. Cheers from 🇨🇦🇨🇦

    "Less negative pressure", absolutely makes a huge difference, and how do I know this? I run a custom vacuum still, sometimes 1000 millibars below atmospheric pressure, and I can tell you even a 10 millibar variance can make a huge difference in the performance of the still, and we are talking about less negative pressure not positive pressure. Now while a still and gasoline combustion engine have a lot differences, the range of vacuum (pressure) in both is paramount to optimum performance.

    Just stuck a full arrows titanium system on mine, bmc race filter, ecu flash and fueling work, got from 176 standard to just over 185 peak and 80 to 83 foot pounds of torque, but picked up nearly a 20bhp gain in the midrange, from 6k through to 12ķ and you can really notice it, the throttle response is like butter now, the engine had only just covered 1000 miles, so its going back in at 4k for another dyno session as it should of loosened up by then

    Question, doesn't ECU tuning eliminate the need for a Power Commander?

    • @BrockDavidson

      Brock Davidson Hey, personally, I don't like the megaphone look, or the tapered look. I think Akrapovic exhaust probably looks the best. Cans have a good shape and sound amazing, but could be louder. I also like how they etched the name on the can on the R1. Nice clean look. I have an 07 10R, and would have bought the Racefit Growler if I didn't have to shave the swing arm, but I do like the undertail exhaust. Just my opinion, not bashing. Hey Brock, great video and info as everyone else has already stated. I thought you forgot about this series, I have been waiting and waiting even though I'm subscribed, I still was just your website and if to make sure I didn't miss a video. Come out with the next one quickly please lol! Since you say the drag strip is a great tool, will you test the alien head exhaust with flashed ecu and tuned against the predator exhaust flashed and tuned. Since they both make similar numbers without tuning, I'm curious to see how they perform in real world application. I don't know about any other but when I watch your videos, I take notes. There aren't too many motorcycle info vids that gives solid info like that out there that make me feel like I have to write down. Keep up the great work. I like the headers on the alien head but not the muffler so much. Do you have any plans to have different looking mufflers that will fit the different headers like the alien head and predator design? I personally think this would be a lucrative financial benefit for your company.

    I can't say anything more than that. This is the real reason why mix-n-match doesn't work that great, but because of real engineering and design, now we can have a solution that can work. I mean, before all these ECU stuff we'd have to struggle so much only to see we're not getting any midrange power. Nowadays, with all the electronics and the restrictions on these bikes, the simpler you think the easier it is. Hahaha.

    It amazing me how much of this stuff matters. I dont know anything about exhausts and was always under the impression, exhaust shit as fast as possible = best. Randomly stumbled across this video and I am glad I did, very interesting Brock. New GSX-R is a real beauty too.
    Pure out of curiosity, what would be the benefits or downsides of ending the exhaust before it even goes under the bike and exhausting it to the ground or sides. Aside from weight saving ,would it reduce performance anywhere? Because as you explain with the drag pipe, moving air, shortening the pipes would mean it moves air out faster wouldn't it?

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  Před 7 lety +1

      Thanks! And great question. Extremely short headpipes can seriously hamper low-end performance in naturally aspirated situations. You will notice that most turbo charged and almost all supercharger race bikes have very short exhausts, as their power adders compensate for any reduction in low-end. Our Alein Head is as compact as we know how to make a short pipe - the muffler itself is a short/tapered megaphone, which helps eliminate the need for a longer elbow pipe to keep peak power high and not hamper mid/low end power due to minimized overall lenght.

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  Před 5 lety

      As a general rule, full systems require more fuel for a proper tune. This extra fuel in the cat can eventually clog it up, as well as reducing its ability to control emissions. This FAQ might help you a bit also (it applies to most modern bikes, as well as your 675R: blog.brocksperformance.com/faq/do-i-need-a-pcv-when-installing-a-brocks-performance-exhaust-system/

    Thank you for the time you are putting in your videos. Well, I think I have to disagree with you on some points. When you installed Brock's exhaust, the engine benefited from the the overly rich mixture the factory ECU is set at. The N/A factory engine benefit from slightly larger pipes by the fact that larger pipes draw more of the exhaust gas out of the cylinder mainly due to the change in the absolute pressure between the cylinder and the exhaust pipes. When the cylinder is emptier, during the next intake cycle, the piston creates more vacuum which leads to withdrawing more air into the cylinder. And since factory A/F map was already set at a very rich condition, the additional air will make use of it. So, to be fair, Brock's exhaust and whatever aftermarket performance exhaust for the sake of argument, took advantage of the unbalanced A/F ratio the factory set their ECU's at. Vehicle manufacturer, across the industry, tend to enriching their fuel mixture to meet the emission since richer fuel mixture has lower gas degree, it will lower the production of Ozone and Nitric Oxide. At the same time, richer mixture produces greater amount of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide, but these residuals got taken care of by the catalytic converter. Just to pin point what I at talking about, go back to time 30:15 in the video and you will see the run with the factory exhaust had A/F is 8.03 and when you installed the performance exhaust, the A/F went up to 11.73. I think we both agree that 8.03 ratio is super rich and 11.73 is close to ideal ratio. I am not saying the performance exhaust did not aid in power, but I can't claim all the additional 13.09 hp & 8.56 torque was due to the performance exhaust. What I would like to see is EITHER to put the factory exhaust on the bike and re-tuning the factory ECU to exactly match the A/F that is produced after the performance exhaust was installed, I know that would be tremendous work. OR, putting factory exhaust back and tune the ECU to the optimal performance point then put the performance exhaust and re-tune the ECU to its new configuration THEN comparing the two figures together. Because of what I am seeing here, I see that the factory map is not optimized for performance and its not at its best set up for the factory exhaust, I mean come on A/F of 8.03 is way off of the performance band. To me, it looks the bike needs tuning more than any other thing. Sorry for the long comment, have a good day.

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  Před 5 lety

      Thank you for your input. We do not agree that 11.73 is close to the ideal ratio. What you would like to see sounds interesting, but not anything we would be interested in testing as an aftermarket performance company. If you test it, let us know your results.

    Great stuff brock! Another point to make about the crossovers on the exhaust are they even out the pulse width of the exhaust to decrease back pressure of the exhausting piston and increase back pressure on the piston preparing to fire creating more torque supposedly.
    Big fan of your work! Im sure you will pick up 10hp easy once you tune the commander for the exhaust and put an intake on it.
    We will probably be looking at a 205hp bike pretty soon. How much you want for it when you're done playing with it? LOL

    Brock, I wanted to say that I really appreciate these videos. I am an engineer, and I love to see how you go about designing your exhausts. And the gains that you achieve are frankly incredible. I am assuming that you are talking about Akra and Yoshi when you say that the company with thousands of exhausts sitting in a warehouse isn't going to sell "you" an exhaust that makes your bike run poorly?
    I love the work you do, but sadly I just don't agree with the styling of your mufflers. I never have been a fan of the megaphone look. Based on these videos, I am assuming that the design comes from some engineering reason?
    Anyways, despite me not liking the styling, keep up the awesome work, and I love these videos!

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  Před 7 lety

      ilarson007 thank you for your input. Do you have a problem with the look of our Predator mufflers? www.brocksperformance.com/brocknm/templates/bpp1.aspx?articleid=831&zoneid=22 Also, you are 100% correct. The Alien Head muffler begins it's life as a round megaphone - we 'squish' it into the Alien Head shape. You are 100% correct: it is a short megapone on the end of a short system... to boost performance.

    • @isaaclarson
      @isaaclarson Před 7 lety

      Brock Davidson the Predator mufflers definitely look better to me than the Alienhead ones. I'm glad that there is an engineering reason behind the shape lol.
      Unfortunately though, as much as I love GSX-Rs and the new GSX-R, money dictates I'm not going to be able to pick one up. I'm shooting for a 2017 FZ-09, which you only offer the Alienhead for. I'm sure the FZ is a much smaller market segment than the GSX-R is for you, and I understand needing to focus resources where the ROI is there. As much as it sucks, you can't develop all exhausts for all bikes.

    What I'm getting from these videos is that the majority of the horsepower gains come from deristricting the throttle alone. the mapping gives a little bit extra but not by as much. Is that correct?

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  Před rokem +1

      From a purely power standpoint, that's becoming the case more and more. The problem is that while this is going on, driveability continues to suffer even more... Which makes proper mapping critical not only when it comes to power and rideability, but also acceleration.

    Hi Broc, is there a difference between the sensors on european bikes? I heard most bikes don’t have O2 sensors in the USA. I hope you can help me with the following question: I have a 09 zx6r with a slip on pipe + link pipe. The headers are stock and the cat is still in. I want to install a bmc race filter. Now do i need to keep everything as it is or is a full system required? If so, would my bike run lean and bad if i don’t flash my ecu after full system install? Would it run lean from installing the bmc race filter alone? Thanks in advance! Best regards Donny from Holland
