I've had my 2010 E350 Coupe for 10 years now. 200K Miles, still looks and feels like new. and it gets driven like a V6 should be driven.
The funniest thing about this review is when u think 160000 is high mileage for a mercedes
The car is just breaking in at this mileage
"That is actually its sweet spot" - a shitty salesman
What are the ones that go over 300-400k then?
Because 160k still looks like new compared to any Overpriced overhyped Mercedes mimic Lexus you North Americans are dying for
Just got w212 E220 estate for £4k @ 109k fully serviced. Seen a few bad ones, this was bang on the money.
Sold my w211 & got the w212 than the w213. Simply the w212 was better to drive over rough roads & more solid build quality.
Will spend £150 stage 1 upgrade soon.
Champane motoring for lemonade money.
❤🎉❤
I just bought one of those ten and a half years ago. Its breaking in nicely and it seems like its going to be a great car.
I have had my 2009 E350 CDI for 2 and a half years now and was a little worried at first buying early in the production life. It has just gone over 275,000 miles, I bought privately, one owner with 98,000 miles and has been incredibly reliable over the last 175,000, it always amazes me! In that time I have replaced the alternator, a battery, 2 springs, 2 bushes, EGR valve, engine mounts and injector seals, that's about it in 275,000 miles! (apparat from the usual disks and pads etc). I have complete service records from the previous owner and nothing major was changed under his ownership, I would have another in a heartbeat!
I have just bought a 2007 Mondeo with 225,000 miles for my other business (insurance reasons :-( ) and the quality difference is ridiculous!
I have a C class w203 with 450K km on it, 20yr old car, never had any big problem with it, great car
🤔🤔🤔 I am expecting that had changed two sets of sprockets & timing chains by the time it had hit 450,000km. No?. If no, what is your maintenance routine?. Change engine oil & filter every 5 thousand miles?. Change automatic transmission oil every 30,000 miles?. Always parking in doors?.🤔🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
You call that high milage? Almost every merc in Finland has at least 500k.
😂😂 I live in New York and Mercedes here that are used as limo I have seen it with 400k -600k miles still running
Is it true my friend? What models?
@@gustavomarci4909 yeah. Specially diesels are very popular here. I think e class is the most popular one. Most desired engines are 3litre diesels, om603, om606, om648. Also om642 and om651 (2litre engines)
Had a few merc's and their reliable as . German built that is . ( these days a lot are built in jap ) My current daily drive is a 2010 w212 ( German built ) And had no issues over the last 3 years hitting 145.000 klms . Just did A5 Service .
Nice honest video. Very informative and very useful. Loving the free gift!
I wish Porsche were this reliable. I have a C class and a Honda. Both second hand with big mileages and zero issues. I have a Porsche with 7K miles that's certainly not been problem free.
Excellent video you have helped me make up my mind. I have a 2013 e 350 avantgarde. I'm 65 and probably going to keep it forever. It's not air suspension
why should I be easy on acceleration? I floor it on the highways & speed at 210Km/h anytime I want. Got a 2011 E250 Sedan. I love it!
Because you will delay getting an expensive engine overhaul, that's why.
Buying one this week. Great video. Cheers.
I love my 2011 E 350 bluetec. With a panoramic sunroof.
My alternator went at 129,000 miles, I think the water pump is leaking a tad bit at 136K so I'll get that done soon, this car is incredible! 2015 E220
My E350 coupe hit 160k today..No issues apart from normal consumables.
Made me want one now :)
Indeed a beast of beauty 😇🙏
Longer comment: The reliability for E-class overall (whether Wagon or Sedan) has been very good (US buyers can check Consumer Reports ratings). The build quality (body, trim, interior) is excellent. I am always amazed when I see a 10 year old Benz with 100k miles and the paint looks great, the interior looks fresh. The driver's seat even still has the same support it did when new.
As someone who's owned a C-class wagon (W203) I wasn't particularly enthralled when I test drove a 2012 E350 wagon. The wagon was certainly comfortable enough, but the handling was more vague, it felt large and heavy overall. Acceleration felt somewhat labored as the 3.5L V6 is trying to move 4200 lbs of weight. Ditto for braking when you need to stop 4200 lbs of weight. The shifts in the automatic transmission are smooth but not firm, and I've always felt that MB automatics lack crispness and seem to rob power and hurt fuel economy. The E-class wagon can handle curves, although a fair amount of body roll and not a lot of road feel or steering feedback. There is really quite a bit of difference between the C-class and E-class, with the C-class wagon driving much more like a sport sedan. One thing I didn't like was the silly shift lever on the steering column, I always prefer the real shifter on the center console. Overall the E-class wagon felt large, more like I was driving a Lincoln Town Car or Cadillac and it was more size and space than I needed. If you can fit all your gear into the C-class wagon, it's a more engaging car to drive!
the shifting is now all done by wire, no direct cable and rod involved from a center console position. True to form, the shifting module is weak and prone to premature failure if you park over hills (parking claws disengage)
great video keep it up
Hi I have w213 year2016 with 345000 miles and very good condition 🎉❤ I have changed 2times turbo 2times crunshafts and 1 time chain belt
i bought a 2013 restyle sedan e220 with 150.000 miles , and so far i changed the thermostat ,oil, and has some noise coming from the front suspension , so far so good
What was that noise like
And what was the solution
@@Sweebyo most likely sway bar links, if it's a rattling sound
Lovely car! I have E class coupe,
Thanks for converting pounds into dollars, this is a great car. My daily driver is also a Mercedes and so far so good. They are indeed comfortable and reliable, it's the reason I got into Porsche.
Vincent T. Yeah really good daily drivers imo. Thanks for watching. 😎😎👍
Ditto!
I own a w211 with 180k miles. 2007 e 350. All I ever had to do is fluid changes and brakes. Fantastic
Mercedes owners don't thrash there cars from new, get a low owner car that's a must, 5+ owners run a mile. Preleased cars aren't lookafter neither, look for as many Mercedes Stamps in the service book as possible. The stitching comes loose on some seats. This blue color is nice.
i have 350k km on my e250cdi s212 all is great my brake discs lasted for 5 years and 150000km just replacet to new brembo front ventilated total cost with labor also brake pads and parts 200 euros here in Latvia, also front shocks was 250 euros plus labor 60 euros.. smooth...
I'm buying 1 of these wagons this week..
Congrats!! If you still have the car you can get an award from Daimler depending on the accumulated miles of the car. Very nice video.
With regards to the cd player you have to select the disc and insert each one individually. It will have a 6 cd changer in it. It also takes dvds which you can watch on the screen. Great car! Love mine.
bought my 2015 e500 amg for 5k because the seller couldnt get it to run and the mechanik also couldnt find the issue. so when i met up with him and popped open the hood i saw that the battery wasnt plugged in at all and somehow both him and his mechanic didnt check the battery. saved 30k. btw it had 50k kilometers
SALAMANDER are you kidding?
@@A_S25 nope. Actually happened
@@A_S25 sold it a few months later tho for 35k
SALAMANDER 30 k profit only for a battery plugg wow
Lol congrats great story :D
Hey - what bulbs do you have in the parking light housing? Looks like projectors?
I'm travelling to London tomorrow to pick up an 11 reg estate with 171k on the clock, he said it needs belt tensioner pulley which I can change myself! After watching your videos I'm really looking forward to getting it, very highly spec'd and fairly cheap...
Seen one in London 3 weeks ago. Light bronze & crapy gearbox.
130k & £3k.
Good luck buddy.
2005 W211 (E220 CDI), it has 327553km currently, it hasn't had any problems in the last 10 years our family has owned it, apart from a air conditioning compressor that blew out, amazingly it was still on the original compressor!
ANY car can be reliable (well not really any but most) if you maintain it well, and don't thrash it. Ours is loved and well taken care of, and so it was by the previous owner.
The only way you can actually tell it has so many km's is either looking at some interior bits, like the gear knob and driver seat, which are sort of worn out.
Great cars, I badly want an E-class combi W212 but very expensive in the Netherlands.... In the UK you can buy decent bigger cars for an apple and egg we say here.... But I do not want to change our healthcare system, social system if you lose your job or home etc. No sir, we Dutch are some awkward people but there are almost none other countries on this planet I want to change with. I drive Volvo V70's for about 10 years now, great cars, comfy and better to maintainan than a Benz, well in the Netherlands at least.... Lot of Volvo's and lot of parts.... Benz E-class will be an expensive story here :(
Haha, I just realised that you were the guy who reviewed the W204 before I was buying my first one, a C180K five years ago. I wanted one of these W212s since then, but I made some poor choices and choices that delayed my search (C200 CDI, 190E, Subaru Terrible Outback, E320CDI and Alfa 147). Now I decided to get one of these and guess whose review I am watching! Until this review, I didn’t like the blue colour, just like I didn’t like the colour of your 204, but again, the colour is growing on me. To be fair, once you have a proper E class estate (not necessarily the 220), it’s difficult to move on and chose anything other. I had an R107 before and other Mercedes cars and vans, but nothing compares to a large, utilitarian Mercedes. I look forward to checking out your Porsche reviews in a few years, I would quite like a gen 2 996 or a cheap 997.
You, UK guys, have really cheap prices for cars. In the rest of the EU this car will cost around 10-12k euros if not more
mihneah_i pretty expensive for what the car is but then again I got this cheaper because it already had high mileage when i bought it. Thanks for watching 👍😎
Because these are right hand drive, they can't be sold anywhere but only UK.
Compared to the us they are cheap as well.
A brand new Mercedes E Class cost Euro $148,000 in Singapore. Yes, $148,000.
@@thetechlibrarian in the US one of these bad boys with 160,000 would be around 10,000 or probably less.
W212 with 600 thousad kilometers on clock asking price in finland is 6-7 thousand euros
My s212 250cdi 4m had your sagging issue. Replaced rear bags OK now
Nice color. Not the usual one but at least something different
Hi I have w213 year2016 with 345000 miles and very good condition 🎉
Hi Satch, I have a W212 E350 AMG Sport saloon, bought with 50K miles on the clock, she is now on 155K miles and flew through the MOT last week, great cars for daily drivers, the only issue with the V6, which I have had on the last 2, is the intake manifold flap servo motor which fails and costs about £1000 to fix.
I also have a Porsche 996.1 C2 and a Porsche 987.1 Boxster S which will be on track at Oulton Park on Friday, if you are popping along come and say hi, I`ll be with the 911uk crew :-)
Kurlykris
Kris Jones hi mate yes I’ll be at Oulton Park on Friday, sadly won’t be on track but I’ll be taking my blue cayman. I’m meeting a couple of 911 uk’ers down there so yeah will be good to catch up with peeps. Looking forward to it 😎👍
@@alsatch_, theres a ticket going begging on 911uk if you fancy getting on track, I hope we get to catch up, I`ll be in my midnight blue Boxster S along with Chief in his orange Cayman S
3.5 litre! E220 myself.
Million miles++💪🏾
That is beautiful color i’ll try to find one there in United States are used to have 2006E class wagon my dry trap came off I have to sell it
What did you do about the lowering of the car? Mine does the same. What valve was leaking?
We’ve got the same car- beautiful, but same cd problem - go in but can only get them out with a credit card or similar fiddling, and the silver control wheel has stopped working properly so difficult with the radio and sat nav - latter is poor, doesn’t recognise all post codes but great if you wanna find a place in Europe. Great car though, worth looking after. Suspension only drops on ours after several days of cold weather sat on the drive.
I’m at the other end of the spectrum having a 2011 E350 cdi AMG coupe edition with only 38,000 miles on the clock.
It has still cost me repair money though. SAM module fail £1,000.00 and a rotten rear brake pipe which MBUK wanted £1,000.00 to fix as they said you had to remove the rear axel. Obvious not as an MB specialist did it for £225.00.
Engine wise, although not ULEZ compliant, I’d have this 3ltr diesel version allllllll day long as the overtaking torque is amazing 😎
Just an idea on the cd player, mine does the same thing. You have to select CD, and click "Load" and select which slot you want it in. You can't just shove it into the dash like a normal system because these hold more than 1 disc.
As for the rear air bags, mine did the same thing. It's a 45min-1.5hr job. Not bad at all!
Absolutely correct 👍
The free dropping suspension is something tuners would love
Bmx 121 haha yeah maybe they should just install w212 air suspension kits
in the old Citroen goddesses it was expected
I have mer e220 16 has 235000 miles still drives mint iv had form new full history
One off best work horse for taxis
If you’d had the car more than 5 mins, relatively, that immaculate review mite hold some miles (lol) what about working on the engine? Replace cam cover gasket for eg is it accessible ?
great video`s...........ps, how do i activate the "10 years good luck " promotion, it doesn`t seem to be working ...............🤔🤔
Do you still have the Merc and if yes any issues?
I own and drive an S211 and an S212. Both very reliable if maintained. 211 has rear air shocks replaced and water pump with 130,000 mi. 212 has 90,000 mi with no major issues. The 212 is like driving your living room couch on the comfort level. Quiet, responsive and powerful. The 211 seems to allow more road feel and shift control but is not as quiet as the 212. Paddle shifting on the 212 is not as responsive as the 211 but that might be due to the fact of a 5 speed (211) vs 7 speed (212). What do you think. Take the advice and review maintenance history and have independent inspection before you buy!
I own a W 212 2011,I live in Miami ,the only regret, I have is not buying this car before. Looking to keep this one and in the future will like to buy a a 2011 amg w212
Does the heater work?
My W212 E220 has just suffered a rear subframe failure, it rusted from the inside out ! I have owned some 42 cars and this one has been the most trouble, I couldn't recommend buying one. Yet when it behaves itself its a great car to drive ! My hobby car a Mercedes 1989 R123 SL is far better made.
I have a 2014 E250 with 330000 miles on it and in 4 years just had to replace fuel filter housing that was leaking coolant and the thermostat... And when i bought it had the diff fluid changed as nobody seems to do this.. It was black but no signs of metal in the oil.
I had an AMG merc.years ago it was amazing just went on and on built like tanks you can go wrong for an every day used car.
TheYjmfan if you look for high mileage cars on the listings you will always find a large selection of mercs & toyotas. Built to last and just keep going and going 😎👍 thanks for watching.
Hi my C250 CDI now done 540 000 km running ok but lot of shaking
Damn, in UK used cars quite a bargain.
i was under the impression the w212 is the sedan and the s212 is the wagon?
Mercedes car is awesome even with 400k
mine's A 62 reg and a water pump is the only repair and its done 173000 miles.
Hi Satch, I'm delighted with my W212; however, it has the same air suspension problem you described in the video. Did you figure out what the problem is?
Mine did the same so my garage ( not main dealer ) greased the linkage and it appears to be okay now.
My E350 had a similar problem. Two sensors on rear suspension. Connected by cheap 10 dollar plastic links. One failed, and brought a 22 grand car to its knees. Literally.
I made two new links. All good now.
Where's scottykilmer 😂 he needs to see this
Scotty just makes a whole lot of noise
Scotty is a nerd!
Rear subframes can rot out on them, becoming a known issue on the C, E and SLK. They didn't have sufficient drain holes so rot from the inside out. Replacement subframe's should last forever as they changed the design.
late coment but im pretty sure that doesnt include wagon. the other versions yes.
@@glennjrgensen3132 My S212 did rot out. The replacement subframe used is from the cabriolet which is designed differently.
@@threeboardsfour hmm thats wierd. talked to one of my machanic buddies about it. he mentioned the wagons used aliminum while the others didnt. but maybe it is different depending on year/country and so on. i dunno. it may also have meant the 211 not 212. cause we talked about both of those e classes. :)
@@glennjrgensen3132 Yeah, I only know my one went , a 2012 S212. My initial reaction was wtf, why is a 7 year old Merc failing an MOT for rust? Merc indie explained it wan't uncommon, and the previous model didn't have the issue (which would have been the 211).
I was looking at buying a 2017 Mercedes C class but judging by all the electronics that can go wrong these days even with excellent maintenance. I highly doubt that this car will last 250,000 miles unless you spent a fortune on it over the years. What do you think?
Mercedes never brake down ;)
Just hit 167k on my 2013 E350 and not one issue yet
Is that wagon diesel or gas?
Love this car!!! I wonder if there are any issues with Asian grey import ones. Japan has some for like 5k usd with less than 90k kilometers.
gotta be careful, they might be put together from two cars.
Which is the engine of the car???
How is this E350 doing now, give it's 5 years later?
26000 km is like brand new :-)
cd is not broken...have 6 cd, so you need upload manually
man you waited 1 year and still haven't fixed the air suspension? You know that it might no longer be only the air bag that needs change but now the pump is probably also for change...
How can people like you give advice on cars . I really don' get it.
Any issues with rattles? Mine has several annoying rattles and a creak on the left rear C Pillar. Also, the CD player is 6 disc. You need to select the option to load them. It won't accept it until you click load.
What was the problem, i have some noise aswell
@@Sweebyo I never got it resolved. I left it. The noise is less noticeable now in the cold (it is winter where I am). For some reason I also hear the rattles less now in winter and they appear again once it gets warm. Despite being under maintenance plan with Mercedes, they want to charge to diagnose and fix rattles.
Such a weird problems haha
@David Farley LOL crazy. I think the plastics and certain parts expand when it gets hot making it rattle against some other stuff. It's sad because the W211 E Class didn't.
@@Sweebyo Indeed. Haha.
i was close to buying one, a waggon/estate car until i was told they were a maintenance horror show. I bought a super reliable Camry sedan instead. Maybe I should have got the Merc?
Alan B'Stard M P I suppose it all depends on how well it has been looked after. I don’t expect all high mile mercs to be in this good condition, but if looked after properly there is no reason why it can go for half a million or more
@@alsatch_ in the pre computer days. Mercs were known for longevity and dependibilty/ After 160k miles a shock absorber replacement seems fair enough. Great car you got
You won’t get the same reliability out of a Mercedes like this (or even the previous w211 chassis) that you get on a Toyota!
On the other hand, you will never get the same handling characteristics and interior environment on a Toyota like you get on a Mercedes.
If you know a decent mechanic (and where to buy parts), you need to expect more “maintenance” than you get on a Camry over the years, but it doesn’t have to be any horror show.
But these cars are usually more complex, and I,m not talking just about electronics.
Even things like the suspension or “simple” motor mounts are made to filter those elements from the cabin, and not necessarily to last as long as they could.
So you may easily end up replacing motor mounts earlier than on a Toyota (and many other cars), which is not as expensive as one may think, but it’s still a kind of a regular maintenance item.
Only each individual can decide which of these philosophies are more desirables. 😉
you miss one zero in title 260000 km
My experience with e350 cdi is gearbox control unit ,one injector, dpf and suspension mount after that c250cdi same gearbox control unit again.now l go for japanese and l dont think l be back to merc again
It's like driving a sofa 😂😂😂
That looks like a muti cd changer! If so you need to select the option to load them.
Took me a good while to figure that out too 🤣
Good morning from greece i have problem with my w 212 e 200 136 ps i have increased fuel consumption i change fuel injectors i do programme egr off and dpf off but my problem is still there.if you have any idea? Please tell me
Try drive longer distances with higher speeds like highway for a while

The E-class wagons are great, not very exciting to drive though.
Doug Antelman your right about that. They are more like narrow boats than cars but the ride is smooth for a daily and family days.
Doug Antelman try the E550 coupe. She’s a pure blast :)
try the E63s wagon you would smoke almost every sport car the rocket
Mine e350 from 2010 have 310k km and only one small problem with injector...
Im currently looking at a e350 cdi with 310k km. How do they hold up? Any loss in power? Does it handle differently?
My uncle has driven his 460k km🤣still bulletproof
if one thing goes wrong on this car, its expensive.
Not sure if he ever mentioned how many miles it had done.... 🙄
