just bought a 1987 fourtrak! found it in a barn. just passed an MOT - milage has obviously been clocked as it says it's done 10k miles, but it runs and it's got loads of character. will take it into the garage to get any major faults fixed then inevitably sell it or if it's really bad scrap it. but for now she runs and is road legal once more with the fresh MOT.

Nice one Chris. Lovely old truck you have picked up there. Engine sounds sweet and overall it looks very good for its age too. Great stuff 👍

Will be following with interests Chris, I bought my 1992 Fourtrak TDS a year and a half ago and have been well pleased with it. It joins a 1961 TR4, 1966 A35 Van & 2004 Nissan 350Z and is used alongside the Z as a daily driver although both can go days without use.
The first diesel I've ever owned and feels as tough as they come to be honest, good luck with the project.

Lovely collection there! Ye im excited to clean it up and use occasionally! Its a little different to my normal choice usually fairly fast petrols but this seems to shift along nicely

Hi Chris, superb pick up you've got there. Will be following with interest. I've got an SWB '89 Fourtrak with a Toyota 3Y petrol engine in it which I believe was how it came out of the factory. If I can just stop it overheating then me and the kids will be taking it on a few expiditions next summer. Absolutely love driving it though. Oh, it does need a couple of new doors and some new wheel arches too but that's just minor details.

Ye im sure i seen a write up on the early daihatsu's shared a few engines with the early toyota's where are you from the uk? Sure most were in Australia according to whatever random piece of info i took in years ago. Haha
Ive just about got this through its mot so a new video is pending this weekend hopefully

@@chris_purves Yeah I'm in East Yorkshire mate. As I understand it Daihatsu is a subsiduary of Toyota so in Australia they were badged as Daihatsu Ruggers whereas in the US they were sold as a Toyota Blizzard. I think the petrol engine Fourtrak is pretty rare in the UK, I haven't seen another one come up for sale since I got mine.

@@chris_purves haha patrol version, no it's a petrol version..
but a patrol version would be cool too. No mine is mostly a rust version... i need to get some new wheel arch panels and get the welder on it before it gets much worse. And get a National Rust sticker for the back window.

@@chris_purves mine was dead reliable and was worked hard towing Diesel Bowser's and plant trailers and heavy loads shame the other guy changed the engine and front grille I would have kept it standard with matching engine numbers they are only original once 👍
