- I don't feature much non MG-Rover content on this channel but do jump at the chance to drive something I loved as a kid!
Here, join me with the owner and his son as I review the Daihatsu Fourtrak. Known in Japan as Rugger and everywhere else as Rocky!

It was the F78 model that you drove, the dial in the centre of the dash is a inclinometer
These were everywhere, proper load luggers & super reliable, very rare sight these days & credit to the owner for preserving such a beautiful Fourtrak
You are right, so rare to see these days and this one really stands out!

My dad had a few of these it's so nice to see one on the road very popular with farmers in Wales
Coil sprung solid axle rear, torsion bar independent up the front fyi.
Looks good, my dad owned short wheel base one. I live in Indonesia swb version called Daihatsu TAFT. They have naturally aspirated diesel engine, 4speed gearbox, leave spring front n rear and solid axle front n rear
I still have one, awesome vehicle! Mine has done over 550,000km, some of that towing a van around Australia.
I am keeping an eye out for one I like.
theres actually a longer wheel base one with 4 doors called hiline in daihatsu
Just bought a swb one already had 3 love them to bits
I enjoyed the couple of hours I spent driving this one!
I've had landcruisers and hiluxs over the years and still rate them as good

9:30 Très impressive !
It's an impressive car all round.
That was a nice change Rob. Elic? Seems like the kind of bloke I'd have a Guinness with. I'm sure in Oz it's also the fourtrack, but haven't checked. A nice 4x4 that goes under the radar., like a grown up Suzuki Jimny. Question for the Rover lovers , this or the mk1 Freelander. ?
That is a very good question! I would say the Fourtrak would win but that could be controversial!
Always loved the fortrak never owned one 😂 I had a swb mk1 shogun did consider a fortrack 👍✌️
They seemed to have endless power
Great old work horse !
They are lovely things and so practical!

Never had them here in the US . Is there such a thing as a "Five-Trak?" 🤪😋 Good Man with welding it up to keep it on the roads.
He certainly looks after it! And it's so nice to drive.

They were called Daihatsu rocky in the US
I have one of the very few diesel fourtrak/rugger's in the states. It was imported from Japan at some point. I've only seen a couple others for sale in the US. The smaller gas powered Rocky was sold here for only a few years.
