It is time to talk about Sako rifles! These are exceptional rifles, and the new S20 is no exception. The Sako S20 has some surprises and I have truly enjoyed taking a close look at it. An aluminum chassis makes the rifle seem like one piece which may define new levels of accuracy potential. The Sako S20 is a military grade rifle that you can buy and go hunting with. How great is that! If you enjoy this Sako S20 review please subscribe and consider joining me on Patreon. If you have a Sako S20 feel free to comment below and let me know what you think. Thanks for being here, take care, and Merry Christmas to you all!

I was a Sako Beretta Trident Dealer for 17 years. SOLID rifles, never had one in my hands that didn't shoot like a house a fire. Hunted @ the world with them too - VERY well made dependable rifles. Anxious to ad one of these to my collection!
I VERY much enjoy your videos, no macho/bravado chest thumping, just solid reviews from someone who is passionate @ quality sporting arms and is knowledgeable w/o being biased as well. Thank you for your vids.

Just a FYI. As someone who has dropped the occasional irreplaceable part of a valuable instrument. I once lost for a few days a titanium screw for a rare Emerson knife. A shop vacuum cleaner with a piece of panty hose stretched across the hose opening can be used for non-magnetic items. Sweep slowly and check often for what gets picked up and held to the panty hose section.

Those are great scopes. The one you have was originally intended for field target air rifle competitions. The large wheel will have yardage marks so that the shooter can know the precise range when the target comes into focus. This allows for precise holdover with the air rifles. I have a similar scope I use on my 22-250. Great review and Merry Christmas to you!

    accuracy I got.

As I understand the big selling point for the new S20 was the modularity. When it came out there were two options: Hunter ( what you have) and Precision.
And the idea is that like the Hunter version you have there is always the buttstock and the forend and you can mix them up and in the future there would be maybe more options to choose from.
Personally I am waiting to buy my first rifle (have the permit there on the table, only what I want is out of stock atm :( so have to wait) and watching your videos I have decided to buy a wood stock iron sighted hunting rifle at some point in my life because who does not like the classics ;)

A nice early Christmas present to Your viewers education/entertainment , Thank You ! . A very nice rifle , beautifully built and like almost anything made in Finland made with Function being the primary objective and an equal amount of care devoted to its appearance and ascetics . Function over Form , so whilst I love to see a really nice piece of well grained walnut oiled to a lovely matt shine and shaped with curves and contours to make a super model jealous , I can appreciate the fact that Modern polymers are a much more functional proposition for a tool that might have to contend with the hard knocks from a stint in the wilderness in many varied and possibly extreme conditions . Thank You ! to All at the USOG channel , I have enjoyed everything I've seen from this channel and look forward to many more happy hours viewing in the New Year , Have a Very Merry Christmas and with luck an even Better New Year, Everybody ! . Well Mike, this is an Interesting design of this Sako rifle. I can appreciate the engineering and machining that goes into these modern rifles. And the Fins make some fantastic guns. But I still struggle to warm up to these modern examples with modern materials. To me, I just prefer rifles made of steel and wood. I suppose I’m being somewhat hypocritical considering that I carry a Glock 19 everyday for personal defense. There was a CZcams video that was at least five or more years old that showed a brief tour of the Sako plant by a British outdoors channel. I can’t recall the name of the channel. The people they spoke with at the plant during the tour had a strong commitment to quality manufacturing and design. You might still find this video if you search for it. Anyway, Sako seems to make some amazing firearms and thank you for sharing this video.

I don't want to offend you and I apologize in advance - however, the fact is that I do care about you. I see that your hands are trembling a lot every now and then. These can of course be harmless circulatory problems or nervousness, but it can also be a sign that something worse is looming, such as Parkinson's. I ask you to let yourself be examined thoroughly, because we want you to be with us for a long time and see your great videos for another 50 years (minimum). :)

Thank you Andreas : ) I hope you had a nice Christmas and thank you so much for your concern. I made a couple of videos and talk about the shaking and tremor. I went through many tests and the early indications were Parkinson's - which is what it is - and then subsequent testing revealed essential tremor. I have had the tremor all my life and it comes and goes - and doesn't seem to be based on what I am doing or conditions in the environment. I have no problem shooting - which is nice. I received various prescriptions over the years and maybe they were sometimes good. Some of them made me sleepy or impaired my thinking - so I stopped taking them. Anyway - I keep going and hopefully can last a few more years or longer. I truly appreciate your concern. I wish you the very best of health and happiness - and everything. God Bless.

That looks like a very nice piece! Really clean design, and that stiffness that you note is undoubtedly from very fine tolerances in manufacturing. Is it available in .270 Win? BTW, did you mention the 'street price' ;-) 'Street price' ... that ain't no street gun!!

It would be nice for us tradionalists if they would use those same techniques with a wood stock. A classic wood stock stiffened by the backbone and bedded to perfection. That combined with their workmanship and action sounds like a natural winner. Ahhh---then if it could be done in stainless...... I do admire the one wrench torx used on all necessary fasteners. A great feature out in a remote hunting camp as well as a choice that doesn't always slip and trash the screw heads! Thanks for another very interesting video.

However unlikely, one advantage that a polymer mag might have over steel (in addition to weight savings) is if it ever took a hard hit like being dropped from an elevated position. If cracked it may still function whereas if steel is dented it may not function.

This is what the sako A7 should have been. The A7 is good, but it looked way to similar to the tikka t3x.
So the tikka sales crushed it.
    It has aluminium reinforced stock,
3 locking lug bolt, and a good adjustable trigger.
But it just looks to much like the tikka t3x. The S20 does not it has that specific look, and comes in two different stock versions taget and hunting.

The Tikka is actually the best gun they make for the price and have never had a problem with the Tikka’s I have owned! I have owned a lot of premium rifles and their is a lot of other guns in the same price range that are a better gun, but the Tikka is a great gun for the price! I’ve seen some reviews where it has trouble feeding 6.5 prc and accuracy issues. I really want to love this rifle but it’s given me pause. What are your thoughts or experiences? Great content per usual. Would you consider a new model 70 vs tikka t3x or s20 comparison and what you would pick. Thank you

Hi and thanks for the idea. I had to look up Ron Spomer (I'm that out of the loop 😂) - what a great fellow and fine, fine knowledge. I found more than one commentary on the .308 and I like his opinions. As for the .308 - seems to selling well and delivers well known ballistics in an affordable and convenient package. So many cartridges to choose from - every perspective has its place.

The reasons why so many European rifle manufacturers use standard length actions for shorter intermediate cartridges may be sound...such as rebarreling to longer cartridge as an additional option. Nevertheless, I believe short action rifles should be made to accommodate 308 and 300 Savage based cartridges. Merry Christmas and many blessings!

The Finn’s know how to make firearms. Sako is the only push feed rifle I would use for dangerous game because of the magazine design. The cartridge cannot come out of the magazine unless it is feeding into the chamber. I would go into brush after boar and bear with a Sako.

Thanks for asking and if you're interested in wide open places, solid laws, fantastic people, fantastic outdoors and wilderness as far as one can see - and 4 people per square mile - this is your place. USOG Thanks for the reply so quickly. I had a hunch you are from the North. I’m somewhat close. I live in central Pa.
I’m going to assume that since Canada was and still is closely connected to the UK that firearms such as Parker Hales are more easily attainable? Here in the US they are not all that common. I was digging around on guntraderUK the other night and while seeing some of the prices that these absolutely gorgeous rifles were going for, my jaw dropped. They were very, very reasonable in price. You could even say cheap. I love classic firearms and my biggest passion is Handloading for them.
If I could find good work in Canada I’d move in a heartbeat. I’m not sure if I’m smart, lucky, unlucky or just stubborn but I’m not married and don’t have kids so there isnt much keeping me in Pa besides great friends and family. As long as I could make it back for a week or two of Pennsylvania deer camp I’d love certain parts of Canada.
Thanks again for the reply. Which province do you call home? As I’m sure some are better than others when it comes to being a gun and hunting enthusiast.

It looks to me like they are trying to pull off a hybrid of a hunting and a precision rifle. All I can say is that in my experience a thing that is a jack of all trades is usually a master of none. Whether this rifle is able to bridge both worlds successfully only time will tell.

Japan allowed people use this kind of rifle to do hunting, some people are buying, also shotguns are allowed. But Taiwan island is still under strict restrictions, no open; now a kind of small deer got a lot reproduced in wild lands naturally, getting become pest in the visible future, too many deers gathered, they got contagious disease; witch birds are pest, destroying plants & fish, shrimp breeding areas; a lot of pest are not allowed to be killed by individual, people got suffered, millions people asked government to do open, but got denied. If pest are reproduced continuously, maybe get disaster, it will be another sadness. Millions people don’t know why those anti-guns people & Buddhist still insist that, they don’t know the fact & how hard to do farming. In Taiwan island, people got hurt by animals, even people got died, no compensation, nothing can do to animals, just is unlucky; some people say animals right equal to human right; but a guy used scissors or knife to kill other or policeman, got released, no punishment.

I was lucky enough to visit Taiwan before the casedemic, it is really nice but no gun ownership is definitely a huge mark against it. Especially since it's at risk of invasion from PRC, what sense does it make to have a weak populace? They value the people as slaves more than the security of the country as a whole.

@@topduk Perhaps, let people get weaker and easier to be ruled; but old rulers, their family’s members & very few VIP have many kinds of guns, they have body guards, also they carried handgun for self defense usually; they don’t allow people do it. Since the end of World War II, old government came from mainland China, settled very strict martial laws, guns laws & other laws to control people; slaughtered people. Now through election, they got new government, but still using old laws, absolutely no individual is allowed to buy any kinds of real guns, also there’s no legal real guns can be bought; even some kind of toy guns are prohibited, hunting is prohibited. The government always used reasons to deny, such as toppling government, sniping officials, society security and animals protection. Also there are many anti-guns people, animals protection groups, Buddhist, they spoke loudly, they are more powerful. Now many people are eager to buy guns and hunting, but absolutely no way; so except working, many people attend to do eating, drinking, playing videos games, having drugs or something sexual or nonsense or illegal; many people are getting fatter, weaker, degenerated.
