I too suffer from the bookish affliction of pausing a tv show or movie to scan the books. Primarily to find copies that are in my library, but often out of pure curiosity. This is a fantastic idea for a collection - love it.
Wonderful collection! Ten will always be my favourite Doctor so it was great to see that included! I have been wanting Mrs Beeton's for a very long time, but sadly still on my wish list. Loved the Queen's Gambit and Sherlock too, Thanks for sharing your obvious detailed research into all these editions! This was very fun to watch and I look forward to seeing more!
I am always thrilled when I learn you have uploaded a new video! Yours is probably the best channel on CZcams. I would love to sell used books online like you, but I'm afraid I would end up keeping most of them. Thank your for your bookishness and please keep uploading!
That's just the coolest collection!
If you want to go full crazy you can try collecting all the books that The Mentalist had as props. I remember getting the edition of Jung's Modern Man in Search of a Soul that Jane was "reading".
I’ve never really watched The Mentalist, so maybe I’ll avoid the temptation! 😂
Really enjoyable episode, thanks!
You make the best videos. So interesting!
Thank you so much for showing us your books, your process for hunting them and otherwise just the joy you exude when talking about books! It was so fun to see this and I love that you included clips from the movies/shows as well! I'm definitely only a very, very casual "book collector" of sorts, but I've just discovered your channel tonight and its been so much fun watching these videos while I can't sleep :)
On a very random, only tangentially related note, I wish there were a community/really just a WAY to identify some of the clothing/accessories that people wore in shows/films. LOL. I'd love to steal the entire wardrobe of Garcia from Criminal Minds, but alas. I probably couldn't afford her wardrobe anyway.
Thank you! There are definitely communities out there that identify clothing as well. I’m not sure about Criminal Minds, but I know some people that track down clothing from other things. I’d check out wornontv.net to start. Also, find xratsy on instagram; she mostly does Harry Potter, but she’s very good at tracking down clothing and may be able to give you some pointers!
@@SquirrellyNerdyJess Oh, thank you so much!! I didn't expect a reply at all but you've just made my day! I'll definitely check it out!
Such cool editions!
Wow, that Vincent Price tidbit must have taken some research! Coooooool.
Omg I need the Walt Whitman one! On my way to trying to get it 😬
Great video, as always! I'm actually working on something right now which may turn into a blog post and/or a short article on why people collect things. What is it about human nature that makes us squirrel away lots of treasure? Is it the thrill of the hunt, the need to have rare objects in your possession, or wanting to hold a piece of history? I collect Penguin books, what are you collecting and why? I'd love to hear about it!😊
For me it is a mixture of all reasons. The thrill of the hunt is probably the most appealing part, though, which has made me on several occasions reconsider whether I actually need to own these things or whether simply identifying them is enough... Alas! I am also too fond of creating environments of wonder and creativity, packed with objects of fascination - probably borne from growing up going to Disneyland often and dreaming of becoming a prop master/set decorator. I've been a collector since childhood of various things!
Is the Look magazine from A Christmas Story on your list?
Yes! I believe it’s the December 21, 1937 issue.
Do you have the book from Labyrinth of The Never Ending Story?
I don’t but they’re on my list!
Loved your episode and have gladly subscribed! You sound like a person after my own heart as book fan and book detective. :) I am on the hunt for a book seen on the BBC-Britbox series, Sister Boniface, Season 2, Episode 6 ( I believe it is at either at 28:20 that the images of the book start). Sister Boniface is in a hospital bed reading a hardcover with a cream colored dust jacket, "The Devil's Proof." The author's name is not super legible. So far I have been able to make out/approximate/guess at other words: Nolan Burn Mysteries (in blue print) at the top; author's name: Bartholomew Rahe/Rabe/Rache (?); and there is a cover illustration of some strange image, which almost looks like a carved coconut figure. I think it must be an actual book, as she is seen reading in other episodes such real classics as by Christie and Sayers and Chandler. BBC Studios also has a real classic being read by Miss Marple earlier in another episode back when they filmed those--it featured a now pretty obscure British book, but fortunately is one that comes up when googled. Alas, I have searched Library of Congress, WorldCat, Library Thing, google--all to no avail. I have an enquiry in to BBC Studios, but have not had a response. Thanks so much for any help!
Ooh! I’ll have a look!
@@SquirrellyNerdyJess Thank you so much. Is most kind of you. :)
You are so very welcome. :)
I’m sorry, but I’ve been having trouble accessing the show to look. I’m afraid I don’t have the correct streaming platform. If you could take some photos maybe and email me at jess.trainedsquirrels@gmail.com I can see what I can do!

9:41 Well, I didn't know us Germans are an event.🤣🤣 I guess I stand corrected, Mrs. White.
I did wonder… 😂 More curious to me, though, were the “tally-ho” parties!
