- A review of the new Mazda MX-30, the Japanese brand's first all-electric production car and a bold step into the EV realm. The small battery is a deliberate attempt by Mazda to bring concepts of 'rightsizing' to electric cars and duck the arms race in power and performance seen in some rivals. Is it the right move? Watch the vid to find out!

I already got mine mx30. I love it. Power & range & size enough for me. I commute maximum 100km / day. But my average it 30km. Low weight & luxury cabin, perfect combination.
I have 3 problems:
a. from B pillar on ear level, there is a humming constant noise
b. the back visibility sideways, because of the tiny rear door is limited, and a bit annoying in the city traffic
c. the charging cables have no reservoir in the trunk under the floor mat
Everything else is A+ for me.
Do you still own the car? If so, how has your experience proven over time?
@@J-jm7eb zero problems. 4 software updates since. Roof rack & box from mazda installed. 300liter more cargo space this way. Cheers
Thank you for your response. Pleased to hear you have had no problems. May I also ask how many miles you have done/are likely to be doing with the car? @@MrBazsi888
Interersting choice of rear door layout! I guess it harks back to the RX8, but it seems an odd choice for what is clearly mainly aimed at being a "small family car"?
SHould have tried to get a review in the Woburn Centre Parks indoor tropical pool! Probably drier :-)
Why get sloppy on one of the most important issues, range. I had to rewind a couple of times to confirm that you said “a hundred miles range, on a good day”... We that has tested the range of the MX-30 knows you get more like 140 miles “on a good day” and about 125 miles on an average day.
I won’t get to fired up though as we all drive differently and I have settled with the idea of asking yourself what your needs for range are and how fast you “must” travel.
The MX-30 is not a car for 130+ km/h highway tours, longer distances. It’s pretty “right-sized” if you keep at 100-110 km/h and have commercials and work more near you.
I think the fantastic road behaviour is closely tied to the “smaller” battery. The price point of this car is, considering the ride quality and standard equipment, also a benefit of the battery size. Then we have the life time CO2 footprint.
We can’t all get the rainbow-unicorne in one car but in my opinion Mazda nailed it for the segment of market they intended.
EDIT: I probably didn’t referred to the correct “mile”. I assume you use the UK nmi and if
so, the mentioned reach is closer too real-life results. Still a fair bit from what I get on highway,
110 km/h at 10 degree C, though.
Take care!
Sad anorak.
Rest is fine.
Why didn't you charge it? Would be interesting to see how it charges up.
Unfortunately we only had limited time with the car for this early drive so didn't get the opportunity to test that theory. Hopefully next time! DT
The engine is very noisy... 👎🏻
It’s a sound module to give you feedback what’s happening with the car. It’s artificial, cannot be turned off, and I find it rather pleasant.
Update: got annoying after a while ;) fortunately Mazda allows us now to disable it.
