Paul has the best thrill.
Thanks paul
TRILL. It still gives me a THRILL to listen and watch him play this lovely piece of Chopin music. ; )
Theme tune to the classic film "the pianist". Beautifully played. You make it look effortless. Sublime!
Was completely gone for 4min and 14 seconds... Found myself crying, it's just so beautiful...
Grant Hills Chopin was a master at writing good melodies. One of, if not, the best!
I cant take ur comment seriously with that profile pic 🤣🤣
I always enjoy playing this nocturne it's one of my favourite pieces
Chopin has always had a special place in my heart , cause of his ability to convey a wide range of emotions and feelings in the space of a few bars. not an easy composer to interpret, especially with the tempo, but when you nail it , there's nothing like it. with some nocturnes I get some heavy cases of synesthesia and my mind wanders, fully formed images take shape in my imagination and I am transported in another place and time, with a series of differents moods and sensorial experiences.
The most beautiful Nocturne~
My favorite piece. Watched it at least 20 times
I’ve listened to so many pianists and You’re my number #1 idol, Mr. Paul Barton. Thanks for your music. Truly very inspiring especially to pianists like me who didn’t have the chance to focus on playing more Classical Music.
You make it look so easy lol
Nothing of what chopin wrote is easy......
They are still not very easy.... you have to play at least a couple of years before you can master them. They look easy, but still they got some difficulties in them that are not easy...
Oystein Soreide just a question, I’ve just started to play the piano and my teacher said that I’m allowed to begin this piece this year, does this indicate I’m good?
Tried this having never really played piano and it took me forever to get those first few chords
Easy or not, it may not sound like Paul’s playing. Worthwhile, though!
Es hipnotizante... la música y sus manos...
That was beautiful!!! What a classy piece of music without extreme fast playing. Just a romantic melody with a few twists.
Listening to this while it rains. So relaxing.
Thank you, Paul. 👏👏👏👏
Such a hauntingly beautiful piece. Having tried to learn the first two minutes or so rather amateur in style, boy I wish I could play like this!
very beautifully played Paul.....love the tempo...
Wow, awesome playing and awesome piece. First time to hear this nocturne.
I do my rehab movements to this. I feel like I'm unfurling my wings and that I have more freedom of movement. Thank you so very much.
Thank you Paul. loved it!
When ever I play or hear the first part of the song, I get chills down my spine.
Animate-Lover480 ・ω・ agreed
Every time I listen to this piece I cry... :’)

You make it look easy!

Very good and Emotional Sir 👏👏
Perfect
Impecable
Thanks you!
I love piano
Ahh the pianist!!
Esta cancion arranca sentimientos de ti que no sabias que tenias.
Realmente hermoso.
Great job!!
I don't speak Spanish but I got most of what you said. We share opinions :)
Si estoy completamente de acuerdo
Esta hermosa pieza no es tan demandante tecnicamente, deberias animarte a tocar y aprenderla
Es una pieza bastante fácil de aprender. Es una experiencia única ❤
helll yea I can play it!!wow
I love G Minor, Bach
I love your channel! I'm not sure where I should request, but could you play chopin's nocturne op 48 no 2 in F# minor sometime? :)
Wish I was able to play this I'm currently learning grade 5 and have seen this piece in the grade 8 book ! One day I hope I will have the capability to play this :)
sAkram I wouldn't call it "easy."
wow grade 5 is good
It's actually in the grade 7 abrsm book for 2017-18; so don't fret, you'll get there soon! ;) hope your piano progress is going well!
The thing is, you may be hitting the right notes but interpretation comes with wayyy more than 2 months. It actually never is "perfect"... That's what makes classical music so amazing. It's so flexible and dynamic.
Would you say Nocturne op.9 no.1 in B flat minor is more difficult to learn? Cause I'm currently struggling a bit too much with that piece and I am considering first trying a Nocturne that's a bit easier (like this C# minor one perhaps).
Love your way
I hear some "themes" from Chopin's Piano Concerto #2, first movement.
Immanuel Reyes I thought so too and did some research. It looks like this Nocturne was written as a training piece for Chopin's sister, who wished to learn the concerto. If you find more info or find another version, I'm interested!
This was great! I just have one question. Why are there two variations on Bar 8? I heard many that starts with F# and some D#. Which one is correct?
I've always played it as a d sharp so I guess thats what's written in my sheet music. Play what ever sounds best to you!
F# sounds nicer but honestly your preference
3:27 easy bro
Are u kidding
@@rooron3152 Yes?
No ?
@@rooron3152 yes quite literally kidding
I want to get so good to where I can play this with ease all I know is simple things and I’m learning on how to move my left hand independently from my right so I guess I’m getting somewhere
I am speechless. Amazing. Thank you for this nice gift. Could you please help me to find this music sheet ? My teacher hasn't got it. You're the best !
amazing. I've never quite been able to master the run near the end. I've just not got the dexterity and dynamic control.
Small chunks at an INCREDIBLY slow tempo, you'll get it eventually! ;)
MDkid1 I suppose the same can be said about the cadenza's in Liebestraum 3. I memorized the whole song, but just couldn't get the runs.
DerisedEgami Slower tempo does it, fit together the notes that go together and every other note, fit it in between. Its a little hard to explain but if you practice it SLOWLY that way, it will eventually start to fit together smoothly and at tempo.
MDkid1 Is it better to practice the hands seperately, and then put them together, or is it more beneficial to practice them together?
DerisedEgami You might want to practice it separately to get incredibly comfortable with the passage itself, but when you go to put it together its as if you'll be playing it like it was completely new to you. I'd recommend not spending too much time on separate playing, but to start practicing it together as soon as you feel comfortable. Its like a jigsaw puzzle you are trying to piece together.
i love musique :'(
Paul, please do Nocturne 21 in C Minor. 😃
Paul, quick question - My score has a grace note (e) before the F#-G# trill in M5, M46, and other spots. You don't seem to hit this. The reason I ask is my teacher felt the grace note should be played on beat 3, whereas I was playing it just before beat 3, with the trill on beat 3. That's why I was specifically playing your video slowly. Thoughts? If you were to play that grace note, would you play it on the beat or just slightly preceding it? Thanks!!!
anyone else here just to see how he does 1:07 ?
LMAO SAME
Archie j I am here for 3:27 -.- This is gonna take some time
Spinach and Scenery Yeah, 1 month later and I finally mastered the whole of it :)
i started playing piano not so long ago, and i love everything about chopin, but i know i still can´t play it. do you have tips to improve piano playing?
try playing it slower in the first sheet in any music then memorize it. check the scales if it is c major c minor e maj e min etc . practice the scale 3-4 times the. your good to go. 1 tip watch out for changing scales it may confuse your mind. if you want a entertaining peice try rachmaninoff prelude in g minor i am still at page 4 there its very fun in practocing it. try the waltz of chopin too.
yes, try the A minor waltz of chopin, this is the easiest one
Mikhael Amores are you dumb ? he just started playing the piano how on earth will he play the g minor prelude?
with enough practice u can do great things, im half way to nocturne op 9 2 movement, i play sonatine of kulhau op 55 1 movement, this is my 5 month of playing
viperfish yeah thats great, but have you heard op 23 no 5 from rach ?
That thrill at 0:52 with fingers 3 & 4 though 😵💫
Hi Paul, ... I was wondering what camera are you using for the overhead shot?
Thanks
Tie a camera to the head.
+Swee Ann Tay you won't get an image as steady as here. This is definitely recorded with some kind of tripod.
0:42 (left hand) it's better on F# than D#, in my opinion
Ezra Libertino well,it sounds more harmonic on f# , but the d# makes it more interesting.
I agree. I believe that to be the original version
Paul, I know you put a link to the music but it's confusing which is the exact pdf to download. Could you clarify which one you used?
Thanks
LOVE chopin (༎ຶ ෴ ༎ຶ)
Brilliant composer and died at 39 beautiful work.in his short life.
Great performance! I am playing this right now. (I am 12)
Me too I'm 13 =)
1:35 Marche Funebre?
How do you do the trills?
need more rubato
Somehow it sounds really similar to some elements from the second piano concerto hm
I thought of that too, especially 1:30. that melodic line is extremely similar to another line from the said concerto
Can I ask what level you think this is, because I just learned this piece after three years of playing and was just curious.
At 0:42, my sheet music has an F# instead of a D# in the left hand.
John Locke it is actually F#
Forgive my ignorance, but how can a piece of music be C# minor? Is it sharp, or minor? I'm only 12mths into classical sight reading method so not up to this yet
The two most common modes used are major and minor, not sharp and minor. You can build a scale off any of the 12 notes with either of these - in this case, a c# minor scale would start on c# and then go d#, e, f#, g#, a, b, c#.
1:38 itsy bitsy spider
LOL
Les éléphants ont de la chance de vous avoir comme professeur....
Please, play G Minor
Listen to my new piano composition!
@
Bach
Only part I don't like is by 2:10. Doesn't fit with the rest of the piece..
eenayeah i
its my favourite part to play! I like the change of pace brings some excitement into the piece, not just a plain solemn nocturne.
For me that part represents his memories he had with his sister (who died before he composed this piece) and then the change back to the sad key represents the fact that they were only memories. It is fucking brilliant and macabre
That part must be much more slower
01 kmj the sheet music has it around that speed.
:)
WHAT??! 01.41 IS WRONG IT'S NOT D# ON LEFT HAND IT'S F#
personal choice: i play this way too slow compared to this.
nice. but for some reason ur hand movement triggers me
Benjamin Chalmers he's precise and sharp. most pianists just adorn their movements too much.
Why don't you wear a long-sleeve shirt so we don't have to look at your hairy arms?
why won't you fuck off so we don't have to look at your stupid comment?
Just shush
Autodidact2 😂😂😂😂😂
