The waltz that you will try to perfect your whole life... I've been playing it for roughly 20 years, still not satisfied ! Changing tempo all the time when I hear a good rendition like this one here... There is like 1000 way to play this waltz, try to raise the tempo and play without pedal "à la Cziffra", it changes everything. I have a feeling this one will still accompany me for the years to come !

There’s a rumor this piece was written as an unintentionally cold breakup letter to a girlfriend just before Chopin left Poland (that’s what it said in my piano book, anyway). I’ve only been playing it for 5 or 6 years, but I feel the same as you that it will hopefully accompany me for the rest of my time here. It’s such a joy to play and feel, to express whatever emotions bubble up

Until then i shall watch your sublime playing and gain temporary satisfaction, wonderful performances indeed.

I don't think there are many out there who can make this piece sound as beautiful as you. It is a pure pleasure to listen to you.

I am a huge fan of Chopin's work, especially when it comes to his piano compositions. One of my other favorites is also his Nocturne, Op. 9, no. 2.
This cover is beyond incredible- the tempo, the rhythms, and the dynamic, especially the dynamics- the way this was played built an emotional connection to the audience, leaving every one of them swooning in awe. This is more than beautiful. I aspire to play this song this way, one day :))

This piece was an introduction to Chopin for me, other more advanced students played it at the first recitals I remember being part of. I always liked this piece since about 7 or 8 years old. My favourite Chopin piece now is Etude 25.12. Aka "Ocean" And Mr. Barton does a great job on that as well as a wonderful tutorial.

Dwa lata temu napisałem wiersz do tego walca.. to cudowny utwór, dotyka najgłębszych pokładów duszy...
    ***(Walc a - moll)
    Któż mi da takich słów,
    kto - do diabłów stu!
    Bym tak wzruszyć mógł
    drżenie Waszych serc,
    jak On, jesień ciepłą budzić
    w oknach
    kolorami w wirze,
    by za chwilę
    opadając cicho, ciszej
    miękko ścielą dywan
    pod me stopy,
    a we włosy, delikatnie
    deszcz tęsknoty przeplatają,
    choć tu pozostaję
    w sercu mam
    Jego, polskie krajobrazy
    Jakbym zaraz stanąć miał
    pośród skał, na obcej ziemi,
    gdzie inny nut rytm
    nie takie kolory jesieni.

Are those ornaments supposed to be played on the beat or before the beat? Is there any definitive rule about this, because searching the internet this is pretty divided? Some say "definitely on the beat, it's romantic music", other say "they should be before the beat", other say "play it as you feel it's right" :))

    • @lorenzosmith1639
      @lorenzosmith1639 Před 5 lety

I find it really weird when the ornaments are played right on the beat in this piece, i just think it sounds better if it finishes when the bass note is played.
In general i really like the approach of doing what feels right, and adapting to choose what seems to fit best
