I know someone at FirstData and they said there was a company who was able to reset these. So FirstData purchased that company. Clover (or the cc processor) is also able to reset these for large sporting and entertainment venues. Those arenas purchase 100s of these systems and they do not have to purchase new hardware every time they switch cc providers. I have worked F&B in several large venues and they did not have an issue getting their hardware reset. We have 10 of the Clover Pro (now Duo) and I don't see the part that you popped off on the back of yours. Thanks for posting this. I think it's awful that they are allowed to force people to throw these in a landfill when they are perfectly good, working hardware.
The reason you don’t see the same stuff on you duo is because the new duo utilizes the clover mini as the brain of the show. The big screen is just a screen
I have one, i can't figure out how to get the back off yet but i'm going to try the old fashioned "power down" where you pop the batter and CMOS battery and let it go totally dead for a while. Sometimes this will let go into safe mode or reset. The reset buttons so far i've found control "volume down" function and something else. Much like the factory reset function on android phones, but i wasn't able to get it to boot in safe mode. I'm trying to repurpose this for a friends restaurant in Manila, they would go crazy for this, i'll let you know if i have any luck. Also, maybe some soldering points on the board that are jumpable to get this to reset too?
Not that I would call it progress but I was able get a small screen on the bottom left that says SAFE MODE. Not sure how I did it since I was messing with all the buttons.
One thing seams to be sure about the clover soft/hardware it is very secure compared to other 'ipad" solutions. If the world can't hack it then I'm sold on the security of it.
I just bought one of this from someone because I can’t afford to buy a new one. Now I’m stuck with this mashing can’t even use it 😢i lost my little savings 😅
If you don't have an account with Clover you cannot use these machinesfor any other purpose. I want to reformat or flash them so I can use as a tablet.
ok why aren't people taking Clover to court. Just like a cell phone if you own it you should be able to unlock it so that you can use it with other cell providers. If you have ownership of something you have the right to use it as you please. if they want to restrict use of something then leaseit dont sell it. Peo;ple needto stop using companies that exploit people by taking thier money
The problem is first data owns clover. So even if you use a completely different merchant they still answer to clover. That’s why we pay first data for licensing fees aka clover subscriptions. Monopoly
There is legilsation that's beginning to tackle this issue called "Right of Repair", and it involves making tech companies provide customers and 3rd party repair access to circuit board schematics and to not restrict sales of authentic replacement parts. A big part of it is farming equipment repair legislation, as companies like John Deere and CAT employ software locks which in some cases can make an Owner's $100K+ machine useless after a simple part swap, until a company rep arrives days later to enter a simple code to approve the repair. It doesn't go as far as it should but it's a good start for sure, and is the best shot we have until some brave hero shows up and spends their time and money to take clover to court for not allowing him/her to flash a custom android OS onto their POS system.
I just saw your message, i got one of those and im going to work on it, if you still have it, ill give you an update or if you have a new update, let me know.

I have a crack screen and trying to change the screen and don’t know how
Look for a little black 2 prong jumped in the board... just like on a PC board it resets the Bios Configuration so you can access program settings
How do I take off the back cover
Not that I would call it progress but I was able get a small screen on the bottom left that says SAFE MODE. Not sure how I did it since I was messing with all the buttons.
Did you get anywhere with this?
Just found 8 of these units in a skip so hoping to do sth with them
No, Still waiting for someone who can hack these.

What's your goal in wanting to flash them? When you say repurpose what do you mean?

Have you figured any thing out with these
while its on, tap the screen until u see factory reset code then use your S/N to reset
How do you reset with the sn?
Dont understand
