  • The Clover Flex, priced at around $400+, quickly become one of the most successful portable credit cards processing devices.
The good: All in one format, nice large display, SIM card slot, WI-FI, build in printer, nice battery life, camera, and more.
The bad: 1) If yours fail you can not buy a used one, plenty of used ones available and pretty cheap!!, (Some almost new), cannot use a used one with your processing bank, so used ones are a bad investment, unless you switch to the bank who owns the terminal.
    2) Once the battery fails (LI-ION Polymer, the machine is pretty much useless), machine does have a charging/power port using a USB-C, but if battery is gone the machine will not work, (Looks like a flaw, planned at design stages, and even more strange if there is no a replacement battery to be found anywhere, (Available for a while at around $40 (RIP OFF), and all of a sudden disappeared from the market place, not even generic batteries are available), so if the battery is dead you found yourself with a nice looking $400+ paperweight.
Luckily due to the one owner rule, plenty of units who cannot be used out there to cannibalize for batteries, and more at very good prices, the unit on video was only $20, plus $10 shipping, my final cost was around $32. Old dead terminal is working fine now, and I save $400+ for a replacement terminal. If batteries are becoming available again, please let me know, and I will gladly post the link.
Anyway this all battery shortage seems planned to me, hard to believe no battery is available, and terminal with issues are to be pitched, just very strange!!!

The issue I have on my turbo flex is that the power button doesn’t work and the machine has been on power off mode without anyway of opening it. we tried opening it up but that didn’t seem to work and we believe the issue stems from perhaps a button wire not working idk

Does the machine shows any kind of life when placed on a charger or with a USB c cable plugged in directly in the back? Independently from power button functionality, the machine will show charging status. If nothing happens you probably have a dead battery (Common failure) or motherboard (Rare). Best of luck!

What size screw driver you using

Any size 2 or 1 Phillips screwdriver will do. Size the screws based on surface behind it. If concrete need to use appropriate screws or anchors. Wood is much easier. Is not much of a weight to support. Best of luck! Ciao.

    No tamper mode doing this?

    • @ingeniousgiacomo
      @ingeniousgiacomo  Před 6 měsíci

No. I repaired couple of them. I guess tamper mode was added after.
They sure could have addressed the well know Battery issue instead. I have couple of tablets over 10 years old and no issues with their similar type batteries. I guess they are designed to fail. And they don't want you to fix them. G

In the description above, you state that Clover Flex has "nice battery life". I'm wondering how you arrived at that conclusion and if you still stand by that claim. A merchant client of mine purchased 24 of these terminals for a niche business where finding the right terminal is not easy. We went with Flex because it met all our needs. However, over 50% of the terminals are dead, tampered, or charging screen appears but won't remain on after removing power. Some of these devices went bad just outside the one-year warranty and some are still under warranty but Clover will not replace because their status is "tampered", likely due to dead battery expansion like you mentioned in the video that slightly cracks the case open. My reason for posting here is I am asking you to change " nice battery life" to a flashing warning about short battery life to potential victims of this scam. Batteries cannot replaced in the new models or it will also trigger a "tamper" status rendering the terminal unable to process credit cards. It appears that Clover wants you to buy expensive new terminals every 6 to 18 months. Potential customers should be made aware of this. ty

I agree with you. Never liked the clover. First thing you cannot use a second hand one, unlike other credit card terminals, Has to be new from bank, and some pretty much new machines out there are basically good just for parts to keep your original machine going.
When they first come out the batteries were available for around $30., once they realize people were fixing them, they made sure batteries were no longer available anywhere.
But they still manufactured only for new units. I think is all intentional
And a big scam. Almost enough ground for a lawsuit. Looks like most
Batteries last only couple of years at
Most, and the machine is designed probably intentionally to operate only
If battery is good, unlike other devices, I tried to keep machine plugged in with a USB C cord and still
Did not work. Designed to fail. A pretty expensive paperweight!!
      Best of luck.

The battery is not good, I used clover and has to replace it every one or two years

Just switch to Square, better machine , better rates! Best thing to happen was when my clover flex crapped out!

Never liked the clover, and their policies. It is used at one of my jobs and I like to fix things! Only reason for the repair.
