How many people from the Hindi speaking states have learned Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Assamese, Odia, Gujarati, Marathi or Punjabi ? Who is destroying the sovereignty and secularity of our beloved and respected nation ? Who is ruining the harmony amongst the different linguistic groups ? Who are the ones to blame ? The answer is clear.
      I respect Hindi, Kannada and all other Indian languages equally. Hindi speaking people expect the non- Hindi speaking ones to learn Hindi. Ninety nine percent of them never learn a single language from the diverse list that encompasses Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Assamese, Odia, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi and the North Eastern languages. They are the ones who are creating a rift between Hindi and non Hindi speaking people. There are a few exceptions though - Hindi speaking people who have learned at least one of these non- Hindi Indian languages. I thoroughly respect their efforts - hats off to them. But they make up a miniscule percentage.
      Its absolutely okay if someone comes to Karnataka, stays there and doesn't learn Kannada. Its equally okay if a non-Hindi person comes to à Hindi speaking state, stays there and doesn't learn Hindi.

    If you're staying in a city for more than a year and do not understand the language of the place, you should learn it or leave it. That's a fair argument. But, if you are just there for a visit and you're being harrassed, you have all the rights to question them. I'm a Kannadiga staying in Maharashtra for more than 7 years now and I've learnt the language, the nuances, the cultural colloquials... everything... Though my fluency is not at an expert level, I can very well understand, respond and have a decent conversation in their preferred language and accent. Knowing a city's culture should be a thing of passion and pride. We are not outsiders to one another if we learn to embrace each other's differences. We ourselves create that rift for political benefits and this should end. Start learning each other's languages for starters.

    • @shenanigans4177
      @shenanigans4177 Před 27 dny +1

      That's a pure bullshit argument. Nobody needs to learn the regional language of any metropolitan city. Most people migrate to big cities for work, not for enjoying culture. As far as local nuances are concerned, common sense and civility will get you through. I'm okay if someone takes advantage and overcharges me because of the language barrier, like how BMTC doesn't return change sometimes or autowalas overcharging non-natives. These are minor inconveniences I'll accept rather than going over the hassle of learning a new language.

    • @Infinityvj
      @Infinityvj Před 26 dny

      @@shenanigans4177 Agreed. That's why I said that it helps better if you understand the language and its people and the way they are. And FYI, it is a language of the state and not just the metropolitan city. In fact, Bengaluru has lesser people speaking their own language of the state because of these very people who migrate from different states. It all depends on your own willingness to be a part of that place. If you're just there to make a living, survive and get out, atleast we need to know the basics. Enjoying the culture is an add-on to make those nuances lesser or easier. Also, agree to your point that there are also people who baselessly and mindlessly argue over trivial matters and they should be questioned for it, but it would also be wrong to misjudge their discomfort over speaking a language they don't know and assuming it to be arrogance. Yes, some are blatantly arrogant. But some have sheer pride in speaking their language, which is not seen in the same way as other kannadigas. Anyway, the point being, let's try to know one another better.
