  • Brendan has called a snap video to ask Hayden to run through the Saber Boltyn deck's combo lines (which use Lumina Ascension) off the back of the decks biggest week. Beating out Chane in a number of regions this past weekend for Road to Nationals wins, the guys give you the details on how to play efficiently and understand the deck.

    Interested to see how many players play this and Chane at the Calling. Our local Botlyn players preformed well against Chane as well. Nice to have a Meta shake up leading into this weekend🤘

    Great video! The emphasis on the bolt of courage draw block is super important. Lost a game myself where I was ready for 2 Luminas to come at me but the boltyn player drew his third lumina off of the bolt of courage hit that I didn't block. Can't stop 3 luminas by any means haha

    Great breakdown guys! Something to add from having played against this deck twice in a RtN. I was playing Chane. I don’t know how much people are willing to give up slots in their sideboard, but I knew I would be facing the deck so I sided in eclipse existence, which single handedly won one of the matches. For those that don’t know what that card is, it is a 0 cost instant that states, whenever an attack hits a hero this turn you may banish a card in their soul, if you do they lose 1 life and if you have more life than the opposing hero, you may banish an attack action in your graveyard. It can also work decently against prism, if they have more than 2 cards in their soul, or if they don’t want to pitch to creat a spectral shield. Obviously, teaching against 2 heroes when there are 10 others, might not be in everyone’s best interest.
    The other boltyn I played was playing a hybrid build and just drew really poorly. I think he drew into 2 charge cards in the match… so that was a little lopsided in my favor because of it.

      While Eclipse Existence works, I would rather run Consuming Volition and Chains of Eminence, as those are usable against more heroes. Together with CnC that gives you 9 card to disrupt the combo turn. Consuming needs a bit of help, but trust me, the card is disgusting for Boltyn to deal with, especially buffed with Howl or Plunder Run.

    • @notoriouslycody
      @notoriouslycody Před 2 lety

      @@VeganCATS1 yeah, I had that as one of my sideboard options. The surprise effect of eclipse existence can help a bit as well. Consuming can be a good card for aggro decks that don’t want to block. I don’t think we will see too many of those in the ToA meta though 🤣🤣🤣 TBH, I am ready for some hardcore grindy control games!

    • @BlanktonFAB
      @BlanktonFAB Před 2 lety +1

      That’s not how Eclipse Existence is worded. Or did you mean it’s for your attacks and not for when they combo off?

    • @notoriouslycody
      @notoriouslycody Před 2 lety

      @@BlanktonFAB I may have shortcutted the wording a bit. It reads "Whenever an attack you control hits a Light hero this turn, you may banish a card from their soul. If they do, they lose 1 life. If you have more life than an opposing Light hero, you may banish an action card from your graveyard."

    2 words: Dread Scythe. Easy sideboard sub in for Chane against Boltyn, prioritise hitting them with it each turn in the midgame and they can't profitably combo off.

    • @ArsenalPass
      @ArsenalPass  Před 2 lety +1

      Can only be better for Boltyn would be my immediate thoughts, but hard to say for sure without knowing what Chane looks like now. Overall though, I think the big question for Boltyn is what impact does Tales have and could Ice based decks be an issue for him?

    How does chane keep their life high if they are supposed to aggro the boltyn player down ?

    • @ArsenalPass
      @ArsenalPass  Před 2 lety +1

      It is certainly a case of the best defense is offense. But also using your potential excess cards in hand to defend out in the early turns is key to keeping your life higher. It is a real balancing act and certainly not easy, but very doable.
