  • Hello guys, welcome back to Car Obsession, and welcome to the second and final part of my review of the 2019 Citroen Berlingo. In this part I tackle how the car drives, the equipment and also the safety levels.
    The model tested in this video is the range-topping Flair trim level, which is fitted with the 1.2 litre, three-cylinder turbocharged PureTech 110 petrol engine, with power fed to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. The engine produces 108hp, with 205Nm of torque, meaning it will hit 62mph in 11.5 seconds and the top speed is 109mph. In regard to fuel economy, on a combined run this car is good for 42.4mpg, and it emits 125g/km of CO2.

    I love these cars. I had a 2004 Peugeot Partner 2.0HDi. Paid £120 for it with MOT and it worked perfectly. When someone crashed into it outside my house, I got £1250 back from the insurance!
    Superb car, can't beat these types of cars for ultimate practicality and thougtful touches.

    We tried several SUV's before we chose a new Berlingo. If the Berlingo drives like a van, then it's an extremely comfortable van that rides over potholes and speedhumps far better thann any of the 'offroaders'...the irony.

    Interesting review, and helpful for me as I was hunting for a Berlingo when I originally watched it (I have purchased a low mileage late 2021 Feel trim version, and am very happy with it). Your review was a bit more critical than some of the others I watched, but that's the point of getting a variety of peoples' opinions. Ignore the haters and trolls below. I've also watched some of your other videos and you do a good job. Some people just don't know how to disagree without being a kn0b.

    Maybe an idea to review the new ë-Berlingo. Keep up the good work with your amazing automotive channel.

    Is there really no EAT8 for the petrol version in the UK yet? A pity.
    We ordered ours a little while ago (Germany, 130HP) and are waiting for it to arrive. Can't wait to be honest.

    • @CarObsession
      @CarObsession  Před 5 lety

      Hello Markus, thanks for watching. Nope, that engine isn't available in the UK just yet, but it should be soon.

  • @stephandolby
    @stephandolby Před 5 lety +3

    Well, the 110 isn't marketing mumbo-jumbo really, as it's 110 metric horsepower, and they're unlikely to rename the engine for the UK where we measure it as 108 brake horsepower. The system works quite nice for the 208 GTi, however - 208 PS/205 BHP (almost as if a tribute).
    I don't agree with the mixing of WLTP fuel economy figures with NEDC CO2 emission figures. Why do manufacturers do this? Surely if a car is rated to use 20% more fuel than in NEDC tests, then it should produce 20% more CO2 as a result.
    These cars don't look as "snazzy" as SUVs and presumably don't drive as well, but that relative undesirability might make it less likely to be stolen. I also imagine you get much better practicality and value for money than, say, the C5 Aircross.

    • @CarObsession
      @CarObsession  Před 5 lety

      Hello Stephan, thanks for watching buddy. The 108 figure *is* metric horsepower buddy, that's why I made the joke 😉
      Yeah, you definitely get more practicality with the Berlingo compared to the C5 Aircross, but it will get overlooked nowadays, as it's not 'sexy'...

    PSA needs to offer this as an EV; there seems to be enough space under the floor for a battery pack. Perhaps they could use a similar motor and battery pack as in the eCorsa (100 kW, 50 kWh, 205 mile range).

    so called "car reviewers" always find faults unless its a bmw or audi. ihad a berlingo for 4 years and it cost me next to nothing on 4 mots my sons just paid £1200 for two tyres and an mot for his 3year old bmw

    • @CarObsession
      @CarObsession  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello Thurby, thanks for watching, and thanks for the feedback. I disagree with your statement, though, as I've driven a few Audis and I've found faults with them. In fact, I always try to be as fair as possible and I simply couldn't give a toss what badge it's wearing on the front - if it has faults, I'm going to highlight them.

    For some “poor” motorists getting there and back in comfort is all they ask of their car. Car reviewers talk rich mans choices. I have the mk2 1.6 petrol.
    Best car I have ever had paid £2k 4 yrs ago. Cruises at 75 does 36mpg and moves everything in its stride. The quitest and most comfortable riding car i have driven. Have driven many overpowered rep mobiles. I know which one i would buy with my own money. Incidentally my kids borrow it whenever they can because they love to drive it. If mine ever dies i will look at this. I also only want petrol.
    Biased unfair review and not directed at the type of buyer user. Its not a bmw 3 series.

      Hi Michael, thanks for watching. I never said it was a BMW 3 Series 🤷‍♂️. I disagree the review is unfair and I'd say the amount of likes to dislikes shows you a lot of people enjoyed this review of found it useful.

I have to work thus cannot have my own car review channel🤭. I do avidly watch u tube and i comment as i see fit as there is a thing called freedom of speech and when you post this you put yourself up for good and bad comments? In my opinion your review is misaligned with others thats all. Just as you have the right to criticise the car.

      @@volt8684 Hi Michael, thanks for responding. I also have to work, I work over 40 hours a week, and do this in my spare time. I'm all for constructive criticism, but your previous comment seemed more like mocking than actual constructive feedback. It's not as if I slated the car, I gave it an honest, fair assessment.
      Also, I'm confused with your 200 reviews comment?

      Hello Phil, I've just re-watched this review and it's fair and honest. I'll be honest, I'm struggling to understand to fathom what your comment is based on. I complimented the engine, refinement, ride, and ease of use. I was also very complimentative in the conclusion, so I'm confused.
