The inherent problem with the design of the Death Angels is that if their hearing is that acute, they could hear your heartbeat. No amount of holding your breath or walking on sand will stop your heartbeat from thump-thumping away.

That does raise another question about them, though. They seemingly go ballistic attacking *any* sound, but they're not swarming the waterfall, which is constantly droning on uninterrupted. Why not?

A Quiet Place Part Two is about community and living
A Quiet Place Day One is about friendship and death (and Frodo)
I really enjoyed Day One. I thought the idea of navigating the apocalypse whilst dying is quite unique. Like, what do we choose to value in our final moments? For Lupita Nyong'o's character, it's pizza and jazz music, a memory of her father. Ironically, she is more free amidst the chaos of monsters than she was in hospice. Instead of wasting away amongst strangers in a bed, she dies boldly blaring her music, in the middle of an intersection. Just beautiful.

Cleaning up any surviving natives won't take long, and the biosphere has been cleansed of any animal life large enough to be a problem. The story writes itself.

While I do appreciate John Krasinski hiring an actual deaf actress to play the daughter, and having the story kinda play with the idea that "Hey! This family knows sign language! They can all quickly and quietly communicate with each other" all makes sense for the plot. My only issue is that a deaf person would've been toast within the first 12 hours. Not only could they not hear if danger is approaching. Deaf people have NO IDEA how loud they are being. Neighborhood buddy of mine growing up had deaf parents, BOTH parents. Dinner at their place was nuts. Slurping and scarfing, making all kinds of racket. The little girl would've been a goner for sure.

What I don't get about the death angels is that while they have, what appears to be one inch armored skin that protects them from most weapons, but what about high caliber, armor piercing bullets, artillery shells, anti tank missiles and other such weapons
The problem with this is that the firing of such weapons would attract the creatures to their point of origin
So what is the best solution for this?
If the death angels can't fly, aircraft like helicopter gunships like Apache helicopters or armed Blackhawk helicopters, AC-130 Spectre gunships, even jets could strafe them with their 20 or 30mm guns could probably kill them
    The problem?
Aircraft have to take off and land every few hours to refuel and rearm, so they can only be based on islands
Snipers on boats in deep water could probably take down any death angels along the shore, but only those on shore could be targeted. Since they are only attracted to the SOURCE of the sound and not the target hit, this would be the least effective form of defense
Another possible defense would be to lure them to the bases of various dams, lure as many of them as possible, and blowing them or opening the spillways
The problem? Death angels are VERY fast. most might get away before they drown
BTW, if death angels can drown, that means they can breathe. How did they survive in the vacuum of space?

A quiet place is your quintessential "turn your brain off to enjoy" movie. It's a fun romp, that completely falls apart with 10 seconds of consideration. All people would be dead, no exception. How does the family farm quietly? Why does the family not live by the waterfall? Do they travel to it every time they need to poop? What about farts, burps, sneezes, hiccups, coughs, stomach gurgles, or snorring? How does the deaf girl, who has no concept of sound, manage to be one of the most silent people in the show? I know deaf people, they are not quiet. They don't realize when they are making noise.
Then there's the aliens themselves. Are these creatures immortal? How could they survive the 10's of thousands, if not 100's of thousands, hell maybe even millions of years in hibernation with finite nutrients, and constant deep space radiation exposure they would be subjected to on a sub-light speed meteor? How did militaries not realize their super sensitive hearing was a weakness immediately, when we as the audience knew that would be how they were defeated from the first moments of the film? How were the aliens so unstoppable when we have high frequency sound generators readily available?
Like i said, enjoyable as a creature feature, but is on the same level as the film "Lucy" for logical nonsense.

Yea, I was thinking the same. While the idea of nearly immortal monsters who hunt by hearing alone is a pretty cool for a creature movie, setting it wayyy after the initial attack (it's like over a year or something?) is pretty silly - while they might be immune to small guns fire there's no way they are immune to 20-30mm AP rounds or explosives (not to mention things like strong acids and bases, poisonous gasses, x-rays, napalm, termite or even industrial chippers) - even assuming they are (which would be ridiculous already), the shock of impact would liquefy their insides...

      @Mar032891 Před dnem +1

@ElJefeS4, I understand your frustration regarding the “indestructible” skin of the Death Angels in the “A Quiet Place” series. However, let’s delve a bit deeper into the lore and context of these creatures.
The Death Angels are extraterrestrial beings with a highly specialized biology. Their skin is described as being armored and resistant to conventional weapons. This might seem far-fetched, but there are a few in-universe explanations that could justify this:
      1. Evolutionary Adaptations: The Death Angels likely evolved in an environment where they faced extreme predatory threats, leading to the development of their incredibly tough exoskeleton. Evolutionary biology on their home planet could be vastly different from Earth’s, allowing for such extreme adaptations.
      2. Alien Materials: Their exoskeleton might be composed of materials unknown to us, possibly with properties that far exceed anything we have on Earth. This could include elements or compounds that are incredibly resilient to damage, similar to how certain Earth materials like Kevlar and graphene have exceptional properties.
      3. Sensory Overload Vulnerability: While their exoskeleton is nearly indestructible, their primary vulnerability is their acute hearing. This is a classic example of a specialized weakness that balances their other strengths. High-frequency sounds can disrupt them, which the characters in the movies exploit to survive.
      4. Science Fiction Flexibility: The series operates within the science fiction genre, where certain liberties are taken to create compelling narratives. This means accepting some elements that might not align perfectly with our current understanding of physics and biology.
      5. Suspension of Disbelief: Part of enjoying science fiction is allowing for a suspension of disbelief. While it’s true that present-day military technology could theoretically pose a threat, the narrative focuses on human ingenuity and survival within the parameters set by the filmmakers.
It’s also worth noting that in the second movie, we see that the Death Angels are not completely invulnerable. The use of high-frequency sound followed by a direct attack to their exposed tissue shows that they can be defeated, which adds a layer of strategy and realism to the story.

Secondly why would they focus on evacuating Manhattan when this is a worldwide event?

I just can't accept the idea that any living creature would be "indestructible"! Especially when faced with military hardware! You're telling me tanks, bombs, gunships, etc have ZERO effect on them??? GTFOH lol! It just seems like such a lazy way to have the monsters win! I could understand if the aliens had a stronger, more advanced military but feral aliens defeating the armies of the world just seems kinda stupid to me.

Not really. Our weapons are designed against humans, not inconceivable cosmic threats. Plus there was seemingly no warning, though I'm sure astronomers were aware of the approaching meteors. The aliens would have made it hard to communicate via established means, and a military doesn't work without interconnected communication. And you're probably right, high caliber weapons would destroy the aliens, but good luck hitting them. A tank would be virtually useless because the turrets turn slow, bombs would work but they would be finite considering the supply chain would be in shambles, gunships would work exceptionally well except that they may need to dock for supplies which is risky. Helicopters and planes would work too, except that they probably couldn't land on unsecured land, an aircraft carrier would work. A lot of armies don't even have a lot of high grade weapons anyway, at least not enough to counter an unexpected battle across whole continents. It's not stupid at all to think that humans would be spread too thin and put at a heavy disadvantage.

(1) They don’t know the threat first hand, so there’s the new tension (2) all their training and weapons are useless since they make noise (3) they are still expected to be the saviors and hero’s of their country ➡️ so they have to figure out new ways to destroy these aliens and save as many people as they can. I would LOVE that 🥳

This movie annoys me because no one can do aliens right for some reason thinking that modern firearms can’t go through their skin. We have ammunition that can punch through inches of hardened steel and even depleted uranium reinforcement. They should’ve kept it so they could be shot but increased their speed and hunting abilities. That is why alien is still the best sci-fi monster in my opinion. They have weaknesses that can be exploited, but they have so many talents that it’s hard to exploit those weaknesses. The whole premise of a quiet place is not the aliens ability, but the fact that they can’t be killed with modern firearms. That was the laziest thing I’ve ever seen done. It really took away from everything in the movie to me. I know I’m a veteran and have a lot of experience knowing the capabilities of not only the human body but ballistic data just so everyone on here knows that there’s nothing on this planet or anything humanity has ever discovered that can withstand modern firearms. It is the most devastating kinetic weapon. People ask what will the future of wars look like exactly like they look like now. people firing high velocity projectiles at each other you’re not with standing something moving at 350 0 ft./s. It doesn’t matter what your skin is made up of or the armor that you wear. Kinetic energy doesn’t just go away because your armor or your skin can deflect it. That energy has to go somewhere and what we know is that it doesn’t matter, if the armor to flex it because you will be dead inside your armor. That is why this movie is stupid. You can’t deflect that much energy without being hurt lazy writing

I don't think they have shown a proper military response in the series yet. You're right that at least the heavy hitting guns would probably destroy the aliens, but I really can't see any regular rifle or consumer weapon doing anything. A part of the alien allure is that they are from incomprehensible worlds with unimaginable conditions, it isn't out of the question that they have some extra resistance. But like you said, they're fast and hard to hit anyway. I think the next movie should really focus on the fact that the only advantage humans have is our intellect and our high grade weapons.

    • @ILEFTCAPS0N
      @ILEFTCAPS0N Před 5 dny

Exactly. I get there are plenty of materials that can withstand the impact of heavy hitting rounds, but the energy has to go somewhere. If a 30.06 or .308, let alone a .50bmg hit one of those things, it may not pierce their armor, but the cavitation produced would turn tissue on the other side of their armor into a milkshake.
It's a really bad cop out to go "it's an alien harsh planet, so it's invincible to everything except for when it exposes the squishy part of its head when it's listening to stuff".

Day One, within the first 30 minutes, became my favourite of the 3 films.
The sound engineering is fantastic and amazing in theatre! There were certain things that just blew my mind over and over from all aspects of the film. I loved it!
I also loved the continued representation of illnesses/ disabilities.
Of course, I loved Frodo, the cat.
But what made me love it even more was for all but 2 or 3 of the jumpscares they got me; I'm great at reading/ feeling when they're coming, but they got me good and I loved that!
The only issue I had was with some clips that were included in some of the trailers for the film. I'm a writer and filmmaker, which means that I'm usually able to guess/ mind 'write' the plot pretty easily from the smallest piece of information. While I feel that most of the trailers were really good at not 'spoiling' things in the most part, like most recent ones do, I feel that those clips may have given a little too much away for someone whose mind works like mine. Though also in saying that, whilst I was waiting for those things to happen; they didn't necessarily happen in the ways I expected 🤷🏽‍♀️
I also didn't expect it to be any more emotionally draining than the others, but golly, I definitely didn't expect what it gave us. But again, it's a testament to how amazing a film it is to make you feel that way.
Overall, I love the universe of these films, and as long as they keep doing things correctly for the universe; I'm happy to eat up as much as they're willing to provide! 😅 As a gamer, I'd flip for a game involving this universe. As long as it was done right!!! Maybe even an exercise game/ app experience like that Zombie run one. That could be cool, again, if done right.

That’s the problem with the increasing apocalyptic disaster movies from CGI monsters (but with a twist like you have to be quiet.) Those ideas worked better with practical effects or early CGI. Now it’s just more and more like a video game. That’s what these will eventually become. There’s plenty of things that could scare me, but no matter what the effects it shows me I’m not gonna be scared of death aliens from space maybe I’ll regret saying that but so far in my life I’ve never seen anything like that so it just horrify at all it’s just sorta “oh that looks kinda cool”

To anyone who thinks tge military could handle the Death Angels:
Every base on earth would be wiped out in a day before any real defense could be mounted. Most forces would be defending population centers day one, they would meet certain death.
Sure...maybe large advanced weapons could kill them...but try shooting a dozen Death Angels with a tank turret before they've destroyed the engine. Try loading missiles onto an aircraft before getting ripped apart
All logistics would have broken down almost immediately, and with that, any chance of an actual defense. Everyone left would either defect, or hide with what little equipment is left aircraft carriers come to mind. However, dont expect them to have any munitions or aircraft fuel left. Docking is not an option
You may think "how did they not just figure out the high pitched sound thing" well...its not exactly a just a sound, its a very specific frequency that has to be maintained. Its belivable that the last survivors would'nt have been able to find it. They were preoccupied with not getting ripped apart in their own base

I know what John said and that what he says goes, but I have a theory that (as far as I see) makes more sense regarding the alien’s origins. Here’s how my theory goes: in some far off solar system exists a race of intelligent beings who have both mastered genetic engineering and interstellar travel. This race detects the existence of other habitable planets and sends creatures genetically designed to neutralize any resistance on a planet which arrive on a planet in the form of meteorites, undetectable by planetary defense systems years in advance of any colonization parties. These creatures are specifically designed to be aggressive against noise with the exception of water, plants, and other natural noises. This allows the creatures to target sentient beings, their infrastructure and technology, and any other animal life which may pose an obstacle while preserving natural resources such as plant life or preventing the creatures getting stuck in a loop of attacking never ending sources of sound such as water. These creatures require no sleep cycle, they (as far as we’ve seen) do not have need to reproduce, do not consume prey, require very little food which reproduces itself naturally in the location of their arrival, and most importantly they have a natural defense against the one thing that guarantees most alien species’ deaths. Microorganisms. While most aliens, such as those from war of the worlds, are thwarted by their weakness to foreign contamination, the Death Angels are shown with an immune system able to protect against earth born microorganisms. This immune system along with their requirement to breath atmospheric air would imply they are either EXTREMELY lucky to land on a planet safe for them or more likely were designed to be sent and thrive there in order to neutralize the planet’s natural hierarchy.
