- A forgotten dwarven mine hides in the mountains of Middle-Earth above which is an ancient hall designed to align with the dawning sun on Durin's Day. This lost stronghold has been found, and not all who found it are on the side of good.

Thanks for another fine video! I wrote an article on encounter balancing that other people have found useful: docs.google.com/document/d/1ruzVi1HSxGsrF0pj8rp4qUzp4uozWHblb1NwwBMaGE8/edit?usp=sharing
This is great! Thanks!
That’s a fantastic idea about adding an extra point for the whole group during combat instead of adding to the combat initiative! Keep up the great work!
Hey man, just wanted to say, your videos are a godsend for new Loremasters like myself. Just this past year I got interested and involved in Dungeons & Dragons, so when I found a group that wanted to do The One Ring, I began searching for resources to help me figure out how to lead a campaign. I found your channel shortly thereafter, and I visit it almost daily to revisit videos and revise my knowledge on how the game should be played. I'll be getting some stuff from your page very soon, I just want to support you for all your hard work! Thanks again for making these videos and for being the best guide for new Loremasters!
That is incredibly kind to say! Thank you very much!
Thank you for taking your time, to create and put available these adventures. I just bought them all!
Aww yeah. I love these.
Thank you! big Tolkien fan here, and just started doing some one ring stuff. your content is a big help.
Woooo! Glad you are making these! I am legit excited to watch this
After delving feel into Free League products, I’m sure they don’t have an encounter guide for combat. Things are just deadly or they aren’t because the world is just populated naturally. It feels very OSR.
Been waiting for a new video of yours to drop! Super excited for your Secret Project!
Love your videos and playable stuff. And now you got me super excited about your new stuff you are writing 😍 Have a great day sir!
Still waiting for that BIG THING. :)
I am maybe close to halfway done it but there's still a lot of work left to do.
I love your take on adding the Dwarven NPCs. Definitely something I am going to use in my games. Thanks for all your work! Can't wait for your secret project.
I want to include some lesser rings in my game. I know the eleves made many magic rings. it would be cool to include some of the lesser rings for the players to find. Maybe they would just do something minor like give off a candle light. Or maybe warms the wears body or something. Any cool ideas for magic rings?
If you want to give them mechanical benefits you could have some that give the wearer resistance to poison or the effects of ageing. Maybe a bonus to their strength in terms of lowering their Load. Or have them be luckier with finding treasure.
Hi Mr Will at,
... I just purchased all your adventures and such through Ko-Fi, thank you. I'm at the beginning of trying to get to grips with The One Ring. I still need to read the Appendices in ROTK.
Re: adding or changing NPCs for balance like D&D does - the OSR style of gaming actively does not use such a thing. Adventurers should keep their eyes open, look for a way out and not engaging if they don't feel they can handle the situation. It's not like Bilbo fought the trolls, did he?
Great content as always. Do you have any recommendations or links for font, page formatting, etc. To generate adventures that have the same look and feel as the published documents?
I've found your channel by accident, whilst I was looking for some reviews of ToR2. Your videos are amazing and I really want your help for a campaign
Thanks! How can I help?
@@willattheworldsend thanks for replying so quickly. I don't know how to structure a campaign using ToR2. I've read all Tolkien's books and I'm afraid doing something canonical wrong
@@Zotob1975 This is a topic that is worth its own video. I certainly feel worried about overstepping the canon. There's some good ways to look at things on page 129 in the Core Rules.
When I write stuff I try and make it as correct as possible but at the end of the day, this is a game and it's supposed to be fun. If you're not getting enjoyment out of it because you're too focused on trying to make it "correct" then you've probably gone too deep. Also, unless you're playing with some really hard-core fans of LOTR then they probably won't know if you move some dates or characters around.
You can always think of your TOR games as a slightly alternate history of Middle-Earth or that the people who wrote the history for the books weren't aware of absolutely everything going on at the time.
Does that help or answer your question?
@@willattheworldsend yes it does but there are still some problems. In other games like D&D is easy to plan a campaign: you are free to put a big villain, a storyline and the work is done. In Arda is not possible because the big story has already been written.
Btw, I really hope you make a video regarding this topic.
Oh, and congratulations for your name...that book is amazing (William Morris)
@@Zotob1975 Good catch! You are the first person I think to recognize the book.
As for big villains, Ruins of the Lost Realm has the Black Numenoreans and Dunlendings. I think I might use some captain under the Witch-King who has been sent back to Angmar to prepare it for the coming war. The player heroes could have to stop that from happening.
