- One of the most influential signings Everton ever made, Gray joined the club in November 1983 from Wolves.
Gray scored in the 2-0 FA Cup final win over Watford in 1984 and he also netted another vital goal a year later when Everton beat Rapid Vienna 3-1 in Rotterdam to win the European Cup Winners Cup a year later, just weeks after the league title had been secured. - Sport
As a Liverpool fan I very much admire the Everton side between 84-87. Played some fantastic football and made Merseyside the number one footballing city sharing trophies with Liverpool during this period.
Very true , they were the Barca & Real of the Uk , some great football , glory days ….
The best header of a ball I've ever seen . An everton legend
One of the bravest strikers ever. Gray would put his head where most players wouldn´t put their feet! Puts modern day forwards to shame.
Our most influential signing of that era,a warrior proper player with guts and winning mentality, what we would give to have a player like him in our team of puffs today.
No player has ever made the same impact as Gray at Goodison. He turned sad losers into Glorious Winners. Heroic.
Got a short memory mate. Remember, when he held SKY scumbags to ransom for a pay rise by pretending he wanted the managers job? Not in XI. Inchy every time. He loved the club. Gray loves the Dark Side. No secret.
He was so brave and fearless. Remember when he came into the team in 83-84, and Reidy got back in the team after injury. Everything just clicked after that. What a partnership with Sharpy, great memories.
What a signing Andy was, probably left Everton to early...a true legend of ever there was one....thanks for the great memories Andy.
My hero always gave 100% commitment an absolute legend ✔️
I was 8 when I first went to Goodison in 84 and Andy Gray was my hero straight away, always willing to dive in where it hurts, true Everton legend ........
One of the greatest Everton player to wear the shirt! fabulous team in the mid 80s. hope one day we can get back to the standards they set. COYB
Andy Gray's two headed goals against Sunderland at about 0:40 . Absolutely spine tingling in front of the swaying gwladys street. Great days of April 1985. 😎
As a Liverpool fan that game sticks in my memory for the quality of Everton during that season.
I was at the game bud Awsome. Th best header of a ball End of! Moty's commentary perfect
@@jason28netherton gutted when he left when Lineker arrived!
A True legend never scare to go in for the ball with 90 to 10 odds against him loved him when I was a kid Notts country in fa cup quarter final
when he dived along the pitch to score an headed got up with mud on his face laughing great memories 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍👍👍
What a player and what a team. Great days
Loved to watch that team, priveleged
Weve always had talisman strikers: Royle, Latchford, Varadi, Gray, Sharpe, Lineker, Jelavic, Big Dunc. Its our way. But things always change.
Andy Gray was, is and will always be an Everton legend
Yakubu
Best striker ive ever seen at Villa Park, he was something else. What a player! UTV
He was boss Andy Gray.
I remember when we bought him.
What a team that was.
Boss.
Scored all kinds of goals. Golden era for our beloved Blues
a true true legend,,, being a villa fan he was magic for us,, and then as assistant manager with big ron,, only to leave to change football as we knew with sky,, and he survived richard keys hairy hands,,,, leg end,,,,
what a player.....so good...hero
He was FANTASTIC
A Scottish Legend 🏴
Scottish pervert you mean😂
That Everton side was really good could play and mix it
He was fantastic for Everton.
Andy gray everton legend nuff said
Andy Gray sure loved a header.
Fantastic video, thanks!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
He was class
His will to win unbelievable left to soon . A player the fans love always a hundred percent.
Andy Gray put his head in front of an oncoming tank .
A much more complete side with Gray in it
Star player!
What a napper he had
Gray sometimes headed the ball when it looked easier to kick it, worked for him though.
What was his preferred foot? Catch him on Bein Sport these days if you can, he still loves Everton. Proper football man
Imagine two flying scotsmsn upfront big dunk and Andy Gray
Relentless pressure to get that football in the opponents net now its sideways and backwards
The Bravist EVERTON striker there has ever been apart fron DIXIE.
I'd love to know what he says after that second goal at Leicester, presumably aimed at the Leicester manager ?
He scored some weird headers
I'd like to know why he left Everton. He had a bad knack for leaving club's just before they became very good. The tragedy being, these clubs had come good like Villa, and Everton on the back of his prodigious efforts up front. A really good, hard, and rather fast player.
Knees had gone.
He left cuz Lineker was coming and threatened his appearances, he should have stayed and ended his career at Everton, Lineker was only there a season and the fans adored Andy Gray, he defo should have stayed, it was a shame the fans hated it when he left.....a true EFC Legend.......
At 4mins 17 seconds when that Everton team left the changing room is it just me or did they look like winners ?
I see what you mean. They walk out with self-confidence and a belief in one another. Kendall put together a quality outfit.
He left Everton cos Howard told him he was going to buy Gary linekar
Gutted when he left. Regard Gray a great Everton player in his short time ,I see him on television and see him as a true blue. Lineker scored goals ,but to me he is just a player that passed through ,never see him a a blue.
@@bluecab9060 I remember Lineker more of Leicester City player, like John Barnes as Watford City player, Chris Waddle as New Castle United player. It's when these three players playing at their former clubs that led them called for England squad.
Gaun yersel Andy some player nae Kenny Dalglish but you were a asset to the Toffees predatory mind for goal 🏴🏴🏴
Kendal made a big mistake not keeping Andy His influence cost Everton the 86 season when they needed a leader
Gutted when he left
Real football …….
He should never have gone to villa and hung on in there when Lineker came , just a season and he’d be back in the starting lineup , worst period of his career that last spell at villa replacing Rideout who went to Italy , he could have had another championship medal with us in 87 and ended his career a blue
I have dismissed him as an Everton legend after his shenanigans pretending to want the managers job, just to get a pay rise from the SKY vermin! Not to mention his pro-Dark Side leanings! Got Inchy in my XI. More prolific goal scorer and loved Everton!
