  • Check out the brand new Alesis Strata Prime! (Link 👉 drumhelper.com/recommends/ale...)
    The Alesis Strata Prime is one of the latest additions to the world of high-end electronic drum kits. With its groundbreaking drum module and highly responsive drum pads, it’s sure to become a staple option next to big hitters like the Roland TD-50K, Roland VAD307, and the Yamaha DTX8K.
    I was fortunate enough to get my hands on this kit, and I loved every minute of using it. In this review, I’ll share my thoughts on the module, design, build quality, and overall performance. I’ll also touch on its versatility and who I think it would be a good option for.

    So far the best review/info video of this drumkit. Having watched all the others including the Alesis ones, this has spot on tight drumming, a good representation of the most likely real world useable kits without all the nonsense whirling around the kit. Thank you.

      Yea, it is helpful to know the module is more advanced than most, but there are flaws, and hopefully, in the future, they will fix the issues and come out with a kit worth considering buying. Alesis has stepped up the game, but until they come out with a more reliable kit, they are only good for home practice, and I would not use an Alesis kit on stage live, at least not until they improve further.

    Something I've not seen a single review touch on, which makes me worried that this feature isn't present... and that is the ability to play with actual brushes and it respond to brush sweeping (like one of the Roland kits!) ... And it looks like the snare doesn't have an actual physical switch to turn the snares on/off?

      Thank you so much for replying. I thought it would be cool to be able to do that because moving to this from my acoustic kit, I will be losing a lot of my effect symbols. The start up takes a while, which is not surprising considering the architecture of the module - ie it’s essentially a Linux computer powering BFD. The switching between kits seems fine, again for large sample based kits.

    the module is a step forward...
    the cymbals are a step forward...
    the hihat is a step forward...
    the thinner toms and snare are a VERRY disappointing step backwards...
    the bass drum is the same as the strike pro se.

    • @GideonWaxman
      @GideonWaxman  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I agree with the cymbals and the module! I personally really like the sizes of the toms and snare. The shell depth adds nothing to the performance IMO- just takes up more space so I'm happy with the sizing configuration of the Strata Prime.
