I don’t know who needs to hear this, but if your child keeps going back to their abuser, the appropriate response is never punishment. Giving them the silent treatment may kill them. While her husband has the ultimate blame here, her family saw red flags and did nothing. Didn’t even report her missing. Since her brother died by suicide after this, her parents lost two children.

She has two daughters (one she herself knows is his and the other she doesn't know since she slept with the guys brother at the same time). My mother keeps taking her and the girls back in, only to be told to "Get F-ked and die" over and over again while her daughter threatens to call the cops if any of us gets close to wherever she decides to sleep that month. Abusers isolate you from your family and friends. You're frightened to call them lest the abuser catch you saying something they disapprove of, and will punish you for. You're also embarrassed about the situation. It's not unusual for abused spouses not to see or speak to friends or family for months or years at a time. And when you do speak to them, you are very chirpy and report all good things.

He's an abusive POS. So yes.... innocent people will and can say it too. In would be more telling if he had nothing but good to say about her after he claimed she abandoned him and the kids and all this was a result. That was not an honest reaction but a calculated show of just the right amount of anger and indignation over her "leaving him, vanishing and leaving him to clean up the mess". She got pregnant at 17, got engaged, blew it off, met her future husband, and it was a whirlwind marriage, they did not date long. so her parents were O.K. with her being married off in a hurry, she was still a minor, her parents had to give her permission. Likely in the hope she would have someone to support her, so they would not need to. But it would have been good to advise her on birth control, and take a little time to find out how her future husband rolls.
And she got one more child, marriage did not go well and then she got pregnant again, but had an abortion. Then they separated, came back together ..... and she wanted another child.
Mother makes it look as if they had a good and relaxed relationship - so what about some good advice ??

I know how Linsey felt. Being stuck in an abusive relationship.
I was very lucky. When I finally asked my father for help he said he would but I had to promise him I wouldn’t go back to him. Even though that was extremely difficult at times I kept my word. My father helped me through my divorce. I have a strong feeling that had I left my husband and didn’t have my dads protection, I’d be dead. I know for a fact he had the ability and temper to kill me. My husband and I also got engaged really fast, within a few weeks and got married just 4 months after meeting.
I remember right before my dad walked me down the isle I told him “I think I’m going to throw up”….
I think secretly I was hoping my dad would call the wedding off.
It’s very sad her family didn’t realize how dangerous her situation was.

Her sister's words should be a wake up call to us all "we lost something that we were not really taking care of at the time". I believe she isolated herself from her family, no doubt because of him, I am sure her family were frustrated with her for constantly going back to him after all the abuse. However, knowing that, they and her friends should not have abandoned her, 53 days? Ffs.

    • @PennyEv4
      @PennyEv4 Před 2 lety +9

I doubt she 'isolated herself', but I think you refer to that when you say it's because of him. An abuser wants complete control, and one of the first thing they do is to try and isolate the victim from family and friends. They can also threaten to kill family or friends, especially if they help the victim or give them advice to leave. It's heartbreaking because she was desperate; the police or the family should have linked her to domestic violence services. It may not have ultimately saved her, but at least she would have known she had options and wasn't alone.

    • @loretta_3843
      @loretta_3843 Před rokem +1

I can see the "isolating herself", I've done it myself. People are supportive when they hear someone is in an abusive relationship, but they quickly loose patience when someone goes back - it's difficult for someone who hasn't been in the situation to understand. When looking at it logically, it's all clear, but when emotion, manipulation, fear, guilt etc is involved, you see how people can be twisted up and go back. If you know anyone in such a position, try and be supportive but don't loose patience if it's a "two steps forward, one back" experience for a time.

He intentionally inflicted emotional distress on that family for years. Was that not taken into consideration? The abuse, murder and dismemberment is only the tip of the iceberg here. Multiple charges to run consecutively could have given him more than 17 years, could it not? How does that work in GB?
He dismembered her body, called it a carcass, mocked the victim's father and taunted law enforcement. That's a guy that will kill again if given the opportunity. Doesn't society deserve to be protected from him?

Arya's Kill List Our so called justice system is very dodgy indeed. I always say the USA know how to convict people (apart from OJ) but over here you can do the most gruesome of things and still see your freedom beckoning. Would these people act on their urges if they didn't receive the publicity or if they got the death penalty? Our prison system doesn't help these people with their clear mental issues they just pack them together with other likeminded individuals and then go on to do worse once released. They favour nonces with their own little wings and by saying they have a duty of care to all prisoners when prisoners who aren't nonces are beaten daily.
But Mitchel has just recently been denied parole after a petition set up by the daughter robin. The sentence is up now and I really hope they don't eventually allow him parole. I've got a brother in jail who made a silly mistake one night, a fight nothing of this degree of course and he's been put on a thing called EPP (extended public protection) So shouldn't that he saved for individuals like this?

A life sentence does last for life, Mitchell Quy may never be paroled. If he is he will be released on licence, any infractions of his conditions will see him back in jail.

Don't get me wrong, if he falls in a ditch and breaks his neck I'll drink to that. I'm just saying that maybe what we believe (and I do believe he murdered her and is a full blown psychopath) isn't that easy to prove in a court of law.

My cousin was also a subject to domestic violence, she has 2 sons and a daughter from her 10 years of marriage with her then husband. She was only the child to her parent. After marriage with her then husband, they moved in to her house cause the parent could not send their only daughter away. Abuse started from the very first month of the marriage and it got worse every time. She had taken blows and kicks with bulging tummy with their baby inside and occasionally every other days. It affected her mentally, physically and socially. It lasted for good ten years, just because she had little to no support from her parent especially her mother (cranky granny) who always sided with the abuser. It's been a year since she finally got divorced and leading a peaceful and healthy life with her children. Irony is that even today her mother still tries to reconcile her with her ex husband.

He has some narcissistic traits but it's more likely he has antisocial personality disorder than narcissistic personality disorder, or perhaps he's a malignant narcissist (kind of a cross breed between the former two with paranoia mixed in for good measure). What's most typical about him in my opinion is his recklessness, for instance by inviting the the press into his life to manipulate and use them in his fight against the police (by which he ran a considerable risk of talking too much while being recorded), or by calling the police and asking them if he was still a suspect, or last but not least by telling his children that their mother was dead and making them not tell anybody else (probably when they annoyed him by asking for her). Narcissists generally aren't that reckless but tend to avoid personal risks.

She wanted to get away, my sister tried to help her, everything ready. Then she decided to not leave him. Cut off contact. Then she contacted my sister and her husband (so the brother) again. My sister and her husband were happy to be able to be back in her life. But she slowly started wanting to inculde her abusive bf. So for christmas for example she only came if she could bring her bf along. What do you do in such a situation? In the UK life does actually mean life, it's just the stated sentencing period (like 15, 20, 25, 30 years, etc) is the minimum sentence they MUST serve before being considered for parole, but that is only considered parole, parole is not automatic for most sentences, especially not for life sentences, and the only way to get out of prison is too convince of parole board over many weeks/months.
In allot of these older cases like this one the defendants where sentenced before the Criminal Justice Act 2003 came in to force, which sets out allot of things and has toughened up provisions. This includes adding "starting points" for judges when sentencing murderers. Currently those starting points are, minimum of 15 years for general cases of murder with no aggravating or mitigating factors, minimum 25 years for using or possessing a melee type if weapon (like a knife or bat) during a murder, minimum 30 years for using a firearm or explosive to commit a murder, and Whole life without parole for very exceptional cases, like for the murder of a police officer, the murder of two or more people, the murder of a young child, etc.
If the murder in this case had happened today the guy would of gotten more then 17 years minimum. Even with mitigating factors this guy would be looking at 20 years minimum, but realistically 25-30 years due to covering it up, lying to police, etc.

    My absolute sincere condolences🙏🏻💕
    |I honestly don't want to judge Lyndsey's family and friends, and the reason is, because I know a woman who has been in an abusive marriage. The fact of the matter is, the one in the abusive relationship is in an extremely toxic and dangerous cycle that they cannot get out of.
The woman defends the abuser and this does in fact frustrate the caring family and friends. The more the family and friends try to help, and somewhat become desperate at that, it actually upsets the abused woman, she becomes rather protective of her abuser who is now sweet-talking her...
The family and friends eventually decide to stay out of the relationship to avoid conflict with the loved one who they know will be abused again in the near future.
It usually takes an extremely near death experience for the abused woman to leave her husband. In my friend's case, thankfully she made it out alive, but almost didn't.
It's very possible that Lyndsey's family and friends have been at that very same level with her. In all honesty, I think her family and friends were exhausted as they tried to help her and urged her to leave Mitchell many times before, but they got nowhere, as she kept going back. However, every cry for help is important, it's a step closer to her eventually leaving him, like the note to her friend, unfortunately, it was too late.
I don't understand why the family took so long to report her missing, it's quite crazy that the social worker had the balls to do that, she knew something was wrong, she could feel it in her gut. Bless her.

A tragic story. I was also sad to read that her brother Peter, committed suicide after the body was finally discovered. Mitchell Quy is certainly responsible for Peter's death as well.

Meredith Hammett the thing is, her family had a falling out with her thanks to him because she kept going back, that was apparently intentional on his part because he could up the abuse after that because she had nowhere to go, even for a couple of days. I agree, it is a long time but if they were going for long periods without talking then a couple of months wouldn't seem that long.

I have a cousin who just got out of her 16 years of toxic abusive marriage.
Her parents, siblings and close friends knew.
I didn’t know she was being abused til she came crying with a bloody black eye. Imagine for 16+ years- hiding this secret.
It took more years for her to leave him. During those years, she would go back and forth to him- making us fight all the time.
    “Why won’t you leave him??”
It was hard. So frustrating. It literally felt like hope was hanging by a thread. I wanted to kill him. I was ready the night she told me but she wouldn’t let me or the police get involved.
We would fight over and over until she would cut us off for months. It’s not easy.
For years, I had nightmares of her being found dead.
She officially left him 2021. She’s doing better. Thank god.
It took years to learn that a victim stays because they’re scared or sometimes they think they don’t deserve better.
For those who have families or friends in this type of situation, the best way to save them is to be there for them. Even when they think it’s okay because it’s what they think they deserve. You need to be there to remind that it’s not okay. It’s not normal. That you’ll be there for them no matter what.
You have to because it takes a really long time to help them remember who they are, what they like.

Yeah...no. The victim is choosing to stay, they also choose to involve family, boss, friends, coworkers in the drama, claiming they want out but they somehow don't leave....some people realize their is sometimes value in victim hood

I hope not too. They should be told the truth about what he did too and not be living with his family either, so he can have no relationship with them if he gets out. Their mother can never have a relationship with them because of that POS.
