There's needs to be more awareness made for the women stuck in a situation as this. So that they'll feel safe when seeking safety. I know there's already organisations out there working to raise awareness but if they could somehow find a way to advertise more in places women go alit ,like public bathrooms. Just like all those mental health awareness posters. 💯 this is a just a tragic & what those evil bastards did to her while ending her life. 😢😢

As she was giving her statement, that female cop just sat there, no questions asked...and then just tells her to call them again if her life is in danger. How daft can she be?! And she switches off the room light even before Banaz exited the room. Shows the utmost disrespect for this poor girl. And another female cop even contemplated bringing charges on her for being drunk and making up stories. How sad! This girl had nowhere to turn.

What a blimmin robot that cop was, just ticking the boxes with her monotone voice and long silences, but to hear in the end she didn't even stick to the police word and investigate... did she even write any notes..?!?!? I bloody hope she got fired!

      Rip BANAZ 💜✌
*This is the second video b2b I've watched about authority being slack and not doing their job to even minimum standard on the very first meeting of the person concerned and therefore results in death..
1 time is two many when it comes to professionals slipping up. Ugh it makes my blood boil.
Just sickening that the majority of the time when a person finds the strength to reach out to the police for help, whether how minor or major the situation is and whether its going to highly affect a person and get dismissed, and then they don't go back for the help ever again like they originally thought they could so easily but it becomes more humiliating being belittled from the ones who serve and protect.. 😕
From my own experience, I know the police are lazy, slack and willing to leave people in danger and with the feeling I have from the trauma, I will not put myself through that again, to be told to come back....okaaay umm so when lady, after the house has caught fire or when I'm home from hospital after the knife has already gone through the door and into my skull...
What is wrong with humans! Ffs.
Go home love and we will keep you updated with what your abuser says when we question him casually, yunno because we will get to you first to make sure your safe from his rage when he knows you went to the police.. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

@Christina Reynolds The situations are not even remotely the same. Honor killings do not happen to people who are from the western world (when I say from, I mean originally from). Families in the west (with the exception of some recent immigrants from the East) do not kill their daughters if they disagree with their choices. For you to try to suggest that's the case is very disingenuous

Extemism is an issue, one that shouldnt be oversimplified. However, refugee status is granted based on religious/ethnic persecution, which stems from imperial coups, sanctions, and war. And they don't just let anybody in.

This is just incomprehensibly horrendous, the amount of pain & suffering Banaz and tragically many other women go through for just existing is sickening . I’m glad this documentary highlighted the failings of the police and community’s hopefully it will spark change so no other women has to suffer like this . Sending all the love and healing in the world to her sister , may Banaz rest in peace and paradise I pray there is a afterlife so she n all those who suffer like this can know warmth and peace 🙏🏽❤️

I hate my life and my fate, I always I ask why I was I born here? Why in the worst place in Iraq? Why to this family?
I have a brother who has zero problem with killing me if I did something wrong. Killing to him and to other men in the family is nothing.
That’s why I don’t dare to do anything or break their “rules”. At least not openly. I feel so hopeless but I know there’s nothing I could and that’s my life and I should just accept it. I really envy people who are from the Middle East (esp from Iraq) who got out of here. You are so lucky you got the chance. I would do anything to be in your place.

I know... would have helped create her sense of Learned Helplessness. ...Her sister got away after the attempt on her life. ...Banaz believed she could not get away. And I wonder if that was because she was abused so badly in the arranged marriage she had; and that it broke her spirit. What a pity she did not run away and go into hiding like her sister. And even somehow got into contact with her. Maybe her, her sister and her boyfriend could have all changed their names and moved to New Zealand or something. ...Poor Banaz, I felt such deep sorrow for her. I hope that her Soul is at peace and that she and her boyfriend are together (supposedly he died) and that she finds joy, healing and happiness. Hope her and her boyfriend have a new life together where they have a family and live happily ever after.💞

It took me more than 10 years to be able to live a normal life and get over all the abuse and the beatings I went through. Even talking about what I went through was so painful. I know running away was not easy, but now I know it was the best disicion and I saved my life. The police officer who conducted Banaz's interview was criminally negligent for not following up on that. A disgraceful representation of the Police as a whole, she should have been fired for gross misconduct.

@@dashwolf8057 You obviously know nothing about Islam, and I'm saying this as an Ortodox Christian. Read Quran before opening your mouth, to see how much Christianity and Islam are actually similar.
And what happened to Banaz is unfortunate on so many levels but the reason is their culture and not religion. A true Muslim would never do this to his child!!

Also, observe how just ready she is to clock out for the day and go home. She cut the light off from the office as soon as she had everything in her hands, before she was even out of the office as if rushing her. That alone is demonstration enough of her negligent attitude.

clearly, the lady officer to whom Banaz gave her statement, didn't value her. she turned the lights off in the room before Banaz could leave. i hope this video showed the answer of the officer when asked "What can you do for me?"

@Angelyn... I noticed other things too about when Banaz talked to the woman officer and then I thought that maybe it was just that the documentary fast forwarded the interview (which they partially did, but it was still horrible how she was treated). I'm glad you saw it too that the woman officer basically resented even having to talk to this poor young woman. I erased a comment that I wrote the first time I saw this because I thought I maybe judged the FEMALE (and that's how I put it) officer too harshly. I know I did not misjudge her and I feel horrible for how hard it was for Banaz to go to police in the first place and that maybe, just maybe she felt a small sigh of relief when she saw that she was going to talk with another woman. From that moment forward, Banaz could never believe that any police person would ever help her. 😞😞😞😞😞
