Throughout the movie I managed to suspend my disbelief for a good chunk of it, EXCEPT for whenever Roger was in the scene. Until today, I never knew why. I say the word "incongruous"!

OK, I'm bravely going to step up and say that although I love the movie (Bohemian Rhapsody), and own it, and watch it weekly, the one thing that bugs me every time I see it is, sigh, Rami has blue-gray eyes (that are gorgeous) but Freddie has those beautiful beautiful dark brown eyes that melt me down every time. Couldn't they have found contacts that fit Rami? OK, I've said it it. Don't kill me.
I get what you mean, I've heard that contacts interfere with acting and facial expression, so maybe that's why?
Blue/clear eyes are better for films. They are more cinematic, easy to see because of the contrast and captivating.
I was waiting for this comment. I haven't watched the movie because I don't think that the actor looks anything like Freddie. I realize most people will not agree and I am ok with that.
They did actually try getting him contacts but I think something went wrong and he couldn't wear them

Queen ll is so underrated! It’s songs are great and it’s brilliantly thought out. I found out that one side of the record is white with all of Brian’s songs (hence the white nail polish Brian used to wear) and the other side is black, with Freddie’s songs (hence his black nail polish) it’s GENIUS!
It’s definitely one of my favourites :) I think the white side especially is so beautiful.
I'm annoyed by Bens hair in the movie too, but I'm also blessed because Ben looks pretty cute with long hair...

Yes. Roger has such a beautiful soft angelic voice that sounds so different from his singing voice (not his brilliant falsetto though). The contrast is so interesting and charming. I love Ben Hardys voice but not as Roger
Antonia Rich Rogers voice is so much higher than bens was. I think it was an easy detail for him considering rami and joe completely changed their voices for the role

Seeing as you brought up a bunch of things that you have an opinion on about Queen, that you know others will either shout you down or rip your head off about, I thought this would be my only opportunity to voice my own opinion... here! in your comments ;) (yeah, why not :P )
I'm an original fan from back in the Seven Seas of Rhye days (yes, a couple of years BEFORE Bohemian Rhapsody was released). I was 11 at the time. People thought I was nuts for liking this *weirdo* band who wore girl's clothes (imagine how your grandma might cross over to the other side of the road if she saw a group of goths or punks walking towards her - that's how the band were considered in the very beginning). My parents would not allow me to listen to the music, and I certainly was not allowed to hang the 6' x 4' poster of them on my bedroom wall. I also admit here, that the only music I have ever purchased/owned are Queen vinyl albums (so yeah, I'm kind of one of those super-obsessed fans and have been for almost 47 years).Even at school when all my friends were into Bay City Rollers (the original boy band) and later on, ABBA, I had to remain a closeted Queen fan for all of the 70's (though I did sneak out to see them in concert a few times in the 70's, and travelled around the world to see them in my 20's).
In the 80's, with Freddie's persona change, short hair, moustache, and jeans, I still loved the music, but I mourned the old Freddie in his catsuits and black nail polish (think White Queen - I freaking LOVE that video!), Queen was then (kinda) mainstream, but still very different to all the other bands out at the time. I continued to play Queen music all throughout the shitty 90's and noughties music, and even up to last year in the quiet confines of my room... until the movie came out - and THEN, and only then, did I become one of the cool kids who listened to relevant music. But, yeah, being almost 60, I am now looked down upon for *liking Queen at MY age*. So I am still an outsider. And whilst I so appreciate this new resurgence of Queen fandom, whilst I got to see Queen perform live, and met Freddie, John, Roger and Brian in person several times (for autographs), I still feel a little jealous that I wasn't born with the rest of the millennials where you basically have Queen on tap 24/7 via music streaming and you can share everything with your friends. That you don't have to be drip-fed and wait each year for the next album to be released (you can be a glutton and listen to all 160+ songs at will). You can binge-watch hundreds of hours worth of Queen music videos, interviews, documentaries and cracks. But moreso, you can do this all out in the open and share your joy and love of Queen with millions of other fans across the world in real-time. So the one thing that really irritates me is that most of what Queen fans will argue about these days, is only because they are experiencing/reading it for the first time. Remember, ALL of the information you come across say about Mary Austin, has only been posted up on the internet AFTER Freddie died, and so I would say, probably 70% of it is bullshit - either it was written as clickbait, or regurgitated by fans who weren't even born whilst Freddie was alive! All this information was public knowledge for us back then, but is now considered some new & novel tid-bit (such as Mary supposedly complaining about defacing her house). Newsflash! There is more to these stories but newbie fans will never get to know because there is no way for you to sort the "wheat from the chaff", that's because you can never tell who exactly you are trading information with these days. I feel like as much as us original Queen fans are considered irrelevant relics in 2019, it's US that actually know the truth firsthand. But sadly, in every forum, chat or fan page, we are battling against a tide of recent misinformation (Ah! Fake news!). So before you all get sucked into taking sides (I don't recall it happening back then - this part of society today is a real eye-opener for me). I know it's not easy, but please consider the source of your gossip. Thank you for listening! :D

i'm a new fan and i totally agree with you that most Information after Freddies death is most likely fake and it bothers me a bit when new fans are upset that they weren't alive in that time. i mean i understand what they mean but nowadays you can watch Queen interviews, Videos, etc. for hours!

1. YES YES YES I WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE The Miracle is definitely my least favorite (come at me idc) also my favorite song on there is Khashoggis Ship.
2. I used to skip Staying Power and Some Day One Day, but then I came around to them and love them now.
3. I do love Bohemian Rhapsody because it got me SUPER into Queen. (And yes I do agree with Ben/Rogers hair in the movie 😂😂) He should’ve had the 80s short hair, ICONIC.
4. DO NOT TALK ABOUT MARY AUSTIN OR YOU WILL LEGITIMATELY START A BATTLE. “Her” house is a bit of a stretch because it wasn’t hers in the first place (she just inherited it) and getting rid of messages because it’s “defacing” is just not right.
5. It’s Deaky with a K fight me.
6. I love Hot Space with all my heart, but now it’s just as well known as A Night At The Opera.

Everybody is here complaining about Roger's hair not being accurate in the Bohemian Rhapsody movie and I’m here freaking out about that one scene in the movie where Freddie threw a party and we can see John with his 1977 haircut even though Freddie already got his trademark moustache and i'm losing it because John's hair was already cut short by then and it triggers me how they did its best with portraying John's noble hairstyle history throughout the film and then they show me this?!?!? WTF!!!? At least I wasn't disappointed with the portrayal of Deacy's JewFro™

ROGER’S HAIR KILLED ME FOR THE WHOLE MOVIE! The second time I watched the movie I noticed it. I was watching it and then it got to the part with We Will Rock You (I think) and I was like “oooh change the wig please” it killed meee.

Just an FYI if anybody is interested...Pheobe talked-in a convention- about Mary "kicking" them out of the garden lodge . There is a vid here on yt...It´s full of very interesting insights.
Here we go...
1). The Flash Gordon Soundtrack.. Is that cheating?? Lol
2). Body Language. There's some good parts to the song, but if I'm not feeling it i skip it.
3). After watching clips of real Freddie compared to Rami, I feel like Rami portrayed Freddie a bit more feminine during the 80's than he actually was. (I'm sorry Rami, I love you and you did a wonderful job)
4). I like Mary in the movie. Real life idk. Its complicated.
5). Deaky because I feel like Deacy would be pronounced "Dea-see."

Edit: Also I wanted to add something that I'm like really self-conscious about. This could be considered an unpopular opinion idk, but I kinda hate that I became a fan after the movie. Of course, I think it's great that there are new fans after the movie and I love the BoRhap community so much, but I really wish I was a bigger fan like this before. Before the movie, I loved quite a few of their greatest hits, but that's all I really knew about Queen. I was so eager to see Bohemian Rhapsody when it was in theaters because I wanted to learn more about them. (unfortunately I was late to the party and watched it when my mom bought it on Blu-Ray). But then after I saw the movie, I loved it, and I instantly started watching more videos and started researching Queen. But yeah i just don't like being one of those people who became a fan after the movie. It makes me feel like a fake fan., even though I'm obviously not. I'm still grateful for the movie though, because now Queen makes me really happy and I'm glad I'm discovering more of their music. Anyway, I'm done with my life story and I'll go now. (no one is gonna read this lol)

I've been listening to Queen for as long as I can remember, but I was never that huge a fan.
I could name their songs, and I would recognize them, but I was very casual.
As I got older I listened to more classic rock, like Queen and the Beatles, and the announcement that Queen would be back on the road with Adam Lambert was cool to hear.
Then with the release of the movie, I decided, "You know what? Queen keeps reappearing in my life, I should dig deeper into their music." And I'm so glad I did. It made me a bigger fan than I could have ever imagined.
So I wasn't introduced to them through the movie, but the movie was kind of a subliminal message telling me to listen to them more.
I found tons of Queen on my old playlists, and added more. If anything, the movie made me a BETTER fan.
So don't be ashamed that you weren't a fan before the movie. You were just a casual listener, and the movie changed that.
Myrin Yes, exactly! I wasn't introduced to Queen from the movie, but I became a huge fan because of the movie. I grew up with knowing Queen's greatest hits because my dad had the Greatest Hits 2 CD, so I knew some of the songs from there and the others everyone else knew. I also watched Wayne's World (also because of my dad. He showed us all kinds of good music and movies ) when I was pretty young, 7 or 8 maybe, and have been head-banging to BoRhap ever since. 😂
I also grew up listening to The Beatles because of my Grandpa and dad (again lol). The Beatles have always really been close to my heart, and my favorite band besides Queen. 😊 (Idk why I felt the need to mention that, sorry)

2) «You Don’t Fool Me» I’ve never liked it. It’s a great song, and I get why people like it, it just dosen’t feel like Queen and it makes me lowkey uncomfertable..

I can't really speak to which albums are overrated or underrated, or my favourites, because I haven't listened to them all in full yet (so far the only ones I've listened to all the songs from are A Night at the Opera, A Day at the Races, and The Works). I don't have all the songs on my iPod either, so I don't usually skip them, because I only have songs I like. I will say, I think I'm in Love with My Car is NOT good song. Sorry Roger, I just don't like it. I think the car noises at the end are fun, but I just don't enjoy listening to it. So far it's probably my least favourite so far.
Here's what I will say about the movie (which also helped me get more into Queen after casually enjoying their music for years, and also I just really like the movie overall): I think the worst part of the movie is the "Now I'm Here" sequence, which isn't even that long. I just would have liked something other than freeze-frames of Freddie turning into silhouettes with different-coloured outlines. It's the weakest point for me, but it's not /that/ bad. As for Roger's hair, that didn't bother me, personally. I didn't know what Roger looked like in the 80s until after I saw the movie, but it doesn't bother me. I, to an extent, care about accuracy, but I think in this case they improved on reality. The longer hair looks better on Ben and I just like longer hair in general. Although, in my opinion, the hair he had in the Live Aid part of the movie is not too different from Roger's 80s hair, maybe just a little bit longer, it's just not combed back like Roger's often was in real life. Also, it does change a few times in the movie, just perhaps in more subtle ways than for the other characters (other than Brian, of course, who looks the same and for good reason).
I have never seen the Greatest Hits photo with the cast that you mention in the video, though. I have only seen a photo where they photoshopped Ben's face onto Roger. But even if they did take the photo, it could have been before a lot of things about the film's production/costume/hair design had been finalized.
Mary Austin: I have nothing against her and nothing against people talking about her. I didn't know she was such a contentious topic for some fans. I doubt she was perfect, but nobody is (not Freddie, not anyone else in the band). Freddie loved her and that was a special relationship and that's beautiful and I would never dispute that. While I can understand why some people might have been hurt by her not wanting fans' messages on the wall of Garden Lodge, I can also understand why she wouldn't want that stuff there. I can understand why she would want her own home (even if it's a famous home) to be separate from Freddie's public life and career and not be marked by that. It might also remind her of Freddie's passing in a way that she doesn't want to always be reminded. She seems like a fairly private person, like Freddie could be, so she probably just wants to be left alone and she should be able to have her house look how she wants it to look.
I don't care whether people spell it Deaky or Deacy - I know what they mean regardless, even if Deacy does look like it could be pronounced "Dee-See." I first thought it was spelled Deakey, but then realized nobody else spells it that way.

U are the first person who thinks the same about Roger’s hair! I agree so badly. Back in The 70s Roger had brownish hair and in the 80s he had shorter hair, but through out the movie he had basically the same hairstyle.

Well I agree about the hair, but what should be taken into consideration is that the Live Aid scene was the first scene they shot for the movie, maybe that is why there is this inconsistency but idk man 😄

2)Song I skip (only sometimes) is Scandal. Can't even describe why but sometimes I just don't want to hear it. Never been a fan of it.
3)I didn't like how Mary was portrayed in the film, like some sort of saint. I didn't like that they had Freddie grovelling to get the band back together for Live Aid and saying how bad he's been etc when none of that never happened in real life. I know there were lots of things that were inaccurate but that part rubbed me up the wrong way.
4)Mary...hhmmm. I don't hate her either but I've never had a good vibe from her. If she really treated Jim, Joe and Phoebe how they've claimed then I wouldn't be that surprised to be honest. But whatever she was like afterwards, I am glad Freddie had her in his life because she obviously was a good friend to HIM at least.

All the other albums they did? 😉 everyone's entitled to like what they like though of course. I just think it's funny how everyone says they love Hot Space now yet some people refuse to even acknowledge it.

Favourite Queen album: A Kind of Magic. Worst....does the Cosmos Rocks count? If not, maybe Made in Heaven simply because most of the songs are just solo efforts with new drums/guitar overlays etc. Mother Love is a brilliant track, though.

I totally agreed with movie Roger’s hair, but in regards to The Greatest Hits photo, I’m like 99% sure they just edited the BoRhap boys faces onto the actual album photo (which explains the hair inaccuracy)

I like Mary in the movie and in rl actually. Love the relationship of Freddie and Jim as much as Freddie and Mary. Mary was his love he stated that himself and Jim was maybe pissed about it a bit since he left her everything. There are two sides of the story. I don’t believed she kicked Jim out that easy especially in their intense friendship. People get pity about it that Freddie wasn’t fully gay and don’t get that he loved her and their history. But that’s just my opinion. It really starts ww3... Her removing the messages actually goes with what Freddie wanted the fans not going nuts that’s why he wanted his grave kept secret.

It was actually browner at the start of the movie! In the first clip with Smile, Ben’s hair is slightly shorter and darker.
I think that all of Queen's albums are amazing. And I agree that their first album is very underrated (I actually own their first album, and I love it !) I also agree that Hot Space isn't a bad album, but it is a bit overrated now
I actually do spell Deacy with a c, because after I read Brian's book, Queen in 3D, that's how he spelled it (thought I agree, Deaky is nicer to look at). Overall, I don't really think it matters which way fans spell his name :)
As for Mary, I'm not really sure what I think of her. But I suppose I like her in a way, because she meant a lot to Freddie
And yes, Roger's hair in the movie annoyed me too :) But it was still a great movie in my opinion.

3) Freddie and John's friendship wasn't portrayed accurately! I think the movie in general focused too much Freddie's romantic relationships and business relationships, without much say on the band dynamics (except for some scenes).

Well for me, what I don't like about Bohemian Rhapsody is (drum roll) the fact that there were a lot of untrue stories. Though, I get it that they are trying to fit an entire 2 decades of Freddie's life into a 2 hour film. However, the fact that they are putting up a movie about Freddie's life and they fantasize some of it, it's a really off y know. It's not like they are trying to create a whole new story based on Freddie's life (just like Empress Ki which is based on real story but was fantasized). They are creating a real life story so they should input the real events of Freddie's life. For example, how Mary and Freddie met, even Jim, how Brian, Roger and Freddie met. I understand that it's not a documentary but it's like creating a motion picture of a book and then twisting it. Like? what's the point of creating a movie based on that book if you'll create a whole new story? Producers the shouldn't say that this story is based on a book, rather they should say that it's a fictional movie based on a book. Just like the disclaimer of the series Empress Ki. But this doesn't mean that I don't like the movie. I really love it. I became a Queen lover because of it. And they want to celebrate Freddie's life, that's what they want to portray in the movie and that's what I felt. ❤

(1). A Kind Of Magic!! It's still a great album, but personally, that album has songs that I don't like as much as others.
(2). It's hard. I think One Vision. Again, love the song, but not my fav out of all of them.
(3). I wish they talked about Deaky's backstory more.
(4). I can't say much, since you don't know what's true or false, but I'm just going to say that she was an important person to Freddie, and I respect that.
(5). Deaky. Every fan I know spells it that way, so I've always spelt it like that.
(6). I don't exactly know. But an overrated *song* I think (personally) by them is Fat Bottomed Girls.
