Just wanted mention i saw ur video where u talked in ur all languages.Ur polish Ć is so bad.You pronounce it same as CZ.The rest was perfect just wanted mention that.So when u learn the Ć pronounciation i would think u are native polish speaker.💪good luck

Luca, leaving aside your obvious language skills, experience, excellent learning methods etc., perhaps your greatest asset is your generous enthusiasm and encouraging personality. Absolutely contagious. It brings out the best in people. Thanks for the interview.

according to Steve, the most important factors when it comes to learn languages:
1. attitude of the learner
2. time spent with the language
3. the ability to notice how the language works
You saved up to me a lot of time xd
This is quite similar to what Kató Lomb thought, if you never heard of her she was a polyglot in the early 20th century. Her formula was invested time * Motivation/Inhibition = Result

Steve has changed my life. I wouldn’t have learned any language without his advice.
- Who dislikes Italy?
- I don't know, Italians?
lol
It's just those Italians who I think are so acostumed to what they have that they take it for granted 😅.
If I only could live in Italy I'd be greatful for it every si ge day personally 😁😁
I Laughed when he said that
I also laughed, it means he really knows the country ahahahah

i subscribe to the ability to notice part. I used to listen to Japanese before and wanted to understand everything perfectly before moving on, that's why my progress was very slow. Now, I just keep listening and listening even if I don't perfectly understand everything, but each time i do, I 𝔫𝔬𝔱𝔦𝔠𝔢 something and from there I learn. I always notice something new, learn it, even dream about and it rings in my head.
You two are my biggest inspirations! I'm from Indonesia and currently speak English,Swedish and French. Wish me luck!
Wow, félicitations!
Wow congrats!! Did you learn them in school or alone?
All by myself and ofc i've followed the tips Luca has provided me in this channel :D

Seeing Steve and Luca in one video is just so great.
As a language enthusiast, this video is a 44 mins worth of golden information. Learning languages is more than exchanging information, it’s more of a connection and exploration. Simply, with each language, you get a new way of thinking and a different life!
Thanks for the video, and big love to the both of you and the whole languages community ❤️

I'd like to hear Steve talking about entrepreneurship and confidence, being confident
Wow, as a Ukrainian I was surprised how many times Steve was talking about his experience with Ukrainian language and that he visited Lviv. Unfortunately, Ukraine is not quite a popular place because of all those infamous events. Anyway, I was really pleased to hear that Steve interacts with Ukrainian quite often. Steve, if somehow you read this comment you should visit Kyiv, Odessa, Kharkiv and Bukovel if you hadn't yet. Best wishes to you!!

This is sad to read with current events. Hope all well with you
Where is Kaufman is originally from? He sounds as if he speaks English as a 2nd language.
The whole interview was impressive! As a Persian living in Italy, I'm so amazed at how much Steve is curious about the Persian language and culture! I definitely admit that Persian is a hard language to learn but as you get into it you can enjoy its pure literature and amazing beauty of this language! Wish you the best and thank you dear Luca for arranging this awesome interview! I'd definitely be happy to help you with Persian!
Thanks for the kind words Reza! =)
My advice to whoever wants to learn Arabic: is to learn the Egyptian dialect of it. It's the easiest & the most likable among the Arab world.

Two hugely inspirational teachers. Thank you ever so much.
It's always interesting hearing both of you talk. PS: I guess somebody's washing machine just finished 🤣 7:50
Or a plane just landed. A lot of people live next to the airport and then it gets super annoying.
I didnt remember putting any washing in?? Oh wait its in the video LOL
- Accept the uncertainty for polyglots; How to maintain? you will forget what you learn but you can pick up quickly.
- attitude to learn
- time you spend with the language, not with its grammars.
- the ability to notice how the language works. e.g That old audios listened again will notice some new things. structure, phrases
- line by line listening and reading + do other things while listening to familiar audios.
- Steve Kaufmann does not focus on the writing systems in most languages. (an interesting feature)
- willing to let it in, let it come into you; trust your brain will learn. wash on my brain.
- focus on comprehension and enjoying the language. Don't focus on many details.
- learning a language is to learn the culture.
Thank you for uploading this video. This has been very helpful and I appreciate Steve’s honest and raw insights.
Thanks for asking him more about his bio. and history of LingQ. I was always curious, myself.
Luca, I have been waiting 2 months for this video(part 2). Gracias hermano!
Thank you Steve for your generous sharing of your own experiences with Luca's good way of questioning!
This was helpful. I really liked Steve's attitude towards languages. Thanks for putting this together, Luca.

@@marcelosilveira7079 then you are still using it. Unless your goal is learning English, these videos won't help you learn the language unless you use what is taught in the video
Wow. Actually that's exactly what I do. I mean thanks!

Wonderful interview Luca. Steve is a really great idol! 😊
I am glad that I've found awesome people like Steve Kaufman and Luca Lampariello not in person but here on CZcams who motivated me to learn foreign languages when I found it difficult or impossible.

Thank you Luca for all of your videos, I'm been learning English and your videos make me keep motive🙏🙏
This was a great interview. What a wealth of information. As a multiracial woman that grew up in Queens, NY but moved away at 15yo, I have wanted to become a fluent Spanish speaker for many years. Some of my family is fluent and it's frustrating to me when I understand much of what they say but can't respond back. This is a goal of mine for this year and you two have greatly inspired me. Thank you.
A couple of my favorite people. Thank you for these exploratory conversations, you both have helped me immensely over the last year. I hope to see you both at a future Polyglot Conference!
Thank you

I teach English and I am going to explain to my students this great video... It's true they get frustrated because they are obsessed with the grammar structure but they don't enjoy the language process.... DE VERDAD ME ENCANTAN BRAVÍSIMO
I started to relearn English about 5 months. I'm really into it and I know I'll get a C2 level of English.
What level have you achieve so far?
Thanks for this!! I learn a lot with you guys and you are the inspiration to many of us. Best regards to you from Argentina.
They are my 2 'mentors' on YT for language learning.

My 2 biggest inspirations 🙏🙏🙏 I learn a lot about language learning from these two guys 🙏🙏🙏 God bless them 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for the insipiration!
I love languages, too. I am 16 year-old native speaker in Armenian and Russian, I'm very fluent in English (C1) and I am pretty conversational in Italian (B1).
My Native language is Russian. How easy would it be for me to learn Armenian?
@@wanderingdoc5075 Probably it would be easy, as there are many similarities. I think Armenian is even easier compared to Russian. So you can do it!)
Great discussion. In particular the last part. Even though technology can solve lots of translaton needs, but high-tech translation software can not replace communication and connection between humans, in particualr lots of emotional intellegence related context can never be translated. So it worth the time to learn the language and learning foreign languages are enormously and largely rewarded in many ways.
I have always loved reading as a tool for learning. And LinQ saves so much time, really accelerates learning.
The interviewer and the interviewee both are living legends in language learning. Hat off!
Not as much as that bald British guy with the glasses (I forget his name)

Steve and Luca in one video WOW
Really good interview. I thought your questions were quality and I'm subscribing
At my job I sat next to an Account Manager who looked after Dutch customers, he spoke "The queens english" with a slighly cockney accent, so imagine my surprise when he picks up his phone and talks to a Dutch customer fluently! I'm fascinated by how quickly he switched languages without any effort at all, it melts my brain the more I think about it.
Gracias Luca!! Disfrute al maximo este podcast!! Dios te bendiga hermano y espero algun dia conocerte en persona.
youre a really good interviewer im glad i found you
My core exercises have become Olly Richards Short Stories series. Helped me start reading in Dutch. Would recommend!
Really good video, it really encouraging know y’all struggle like us mere mortals! Lol
I would like to say that we don't forget a language, the memory pointers are weak, or getting weak. Once you reinforce the pointer, the whole language comes back. I wish we stop using this phrase. I always say it is dormant. It sleeps and you have to wake it up. Looking at this way gives yourself more power.
From 36:24 to 37:05. This is something we all know is a benefit, but here it was so wonderfully said: "Through knowing languages, the map of the world starts to come alive for me". Effective, bright, beautiful
Thanks
Excellent video! Greetings from China.
You're both good teachers
*Always nice to see a video chat with quality that is not absolute shite!*
Great interview! It helped me to let go of another layer of my perfectionism! Question: I hear about so many great learning programs and sites but Hindi very rarely shows up on their content. It's the 3rd most spoken language in the world so WHY are the resources so hard to find? Is there a secret to finding resources?
Los admiro muchísimo a ambos!
First of all I thank you two for this great oportunity. Luca, I can't follow easily everything while watching moveis or TV programs neverthanless, I understood all your discusstion in this video. So, I feel quite happy, although I think that I have to improve my English. How do I know my level?
