How To Dress Like Lee Van Cleef | Hollywood Western Wardrobe

- We have done a “steal his fit” in the past where I put together an entire western outfit and go through each individual piece. But today, we are legitimately “stealing his fit”. We are going to steal the entire wardrobe of Colonel Douglas Mortimer in the western “For A Few Dollars More” played by Lee Van Cleef. From hat to boot, we’ve taken the outfit he wears in the film and recreated it!

This was objectively the drippiest character in fiction
And that’s unanimous! I agree!
Here for your swag, and here for my favorite Lee Van Cleef character.
Well I hope you got the best of both!
The best shot in the carolinas
I'd really like to get a pair of black boots like that.
I think I got these from Wild West Mercantile. The “Shooter Boots” maybe? I think they’re on the website.
@@SaintAndrewTV I need to check into getting a pair. The western wear store boots are all the same 20th century style.
@TUCOtheratt they cost a pretty penny, but very much worth it. I agree with you, the modern stuff just doesn’t do it for me.
Very nice! He is my favourite character. How about doing his alter-ego though, Angel Eyes? (From the Good, the Bad, & the Ugly)
Not a bad idea! Noted for sure!
Probably kill your budget, but John Ruth wardrobe?
Badass. But then again R.J. Macready wardrobe was pinnacle.
Cheers Andrew!
Oh I’d love that. I’d have to look at the logistics of that bison coat, but a great idea!
"People with ropes around their necks....don't always hang."
Hi, i think you are a bad, bad guy. Great performance. More....
Gerhard from Vienna
Love ❤ the outfit 😍 ✨ very nice 👌 👍
Thank you, Jack!
I almost made a similar outfit with a red waistcoat, white shirt, black scarf and tan boots. I based it on a Playmobil figure from childhood.
Looking sharp dude 🤙
Appreciate it, King!
Handsome.
This one is 🔥🔥🔥 more of these. The Albert frock coat is the same one worn by brad Pitt in the assassination of Jesse James. His pants were definitely dark brown not burgundy.
Thank you, friend! And I’m inclined to agree! The more I looked, the more I saw almost a chocolate brown! I just don’t own anything chocolate brown! Lol
@@SaintAndrewTV you are welcome bro. The chocolate brown color and cognac brown are essentials for the western style. Didn't much appreciate them unless I saw them in westerns. The fit was fire regardless.
@@lebanondon7981 well thank you very much! I’ll have to get some more brown for sure! Especially for the reason you stated!
@@SaintAndrewTV you are welcome bro. Also I would recommend to mix it up with some jeans for a vaquero drip. With exotic boots they are dope AF but I know they are expensive. LoL. Anyway love your page. Keep it up.
@@lebanondon7981 thank you for the support! And suggestions!
I did some filming for a spy movie once and something I've noticed is that my black suit pants look burgundy on camera when I'm out in the sun. I think Lee is probably wearing black pants and the camera just makes it look like that
I not positive, but that’s very insightful! And a great eye! That’s probably the case especially means those movie were very low budget and not film with the highest quality cameras!
You have the best videos! Thank you for all the hard work!
I appreciate it, Reed! I can’t thank you enough for the continued support!
Can you do one on Tom Selleck from Quigley down under if possible his outfit, of course
Great video! I’m looking to incorporate some more Western styling into my wardrobe, so this is super helpful. As a minor suggestion, could you maybe include zoomed-in screenshots on the screen beside you highlighting the segments of the wardrobe you’re emulating when you talk about it? That’d help my image-driven brain a lot.
Also, which holster are you wearing in this video? It’s very much the style and placement I’m looking for.
Thank you friend! And I’d have to master photoshop to do that, but definitely a good suggestion.
The holster is from JM & Company. I know the guy who hand builds them. I have a double cavalry draw. I just took one off for the video and moved the left hand side up to make it a right hand cross draw. He has an instagram! Send him a message and see what he can do for you! Tell him Andrew sent you!
@@SaintAndrewTV Thanks a bunch, Andrew! :D I appreciate that heaps!!
Was going to ask, who made your boots? I struggle to find any, as I'm a size 15
Have you done Pale rider yet?
These are from Wild West mercantile. I’m not sure what size they go up to, but I know that Facebook marketplace has a lot of people in western groups that sell some of their wardrobe!
This is the first on modeling an outfit from historic westerns, so no! But I’m open to suggestions and any suggestion referencing Clint Eastwood interest me!
@SaintAndrewTV I just love the red brown coat and western top hat. It's such a good movie. Clint just nailed the real-world protagonist, struggles to do the right thing, and not be selfish, doesn't make it look easy.
@@christiankirkenes5922 the complexity within an “anti-hero” is something viewers sympathize with. It brings out the human element that they come with flaws and hypocrisies just as yourself. Love when a character is written like that!
@@SaintAndrewTV I think it gives strength to the viewer to go through the struggle and be victorious because their hero can do it, rather than watching someone who can do no wrong. It's just not realism.
How about the outfit Eli Wallach wears in The Good The Bad and Ugly?
You got the Hat wrong and if you take a good look at the character his outfit is a bit more in the Warren side as if he's been doing this for several years maybe even a decade
The hat is identical to the movie minus the brim curve.
Worn side, not warren😂
