@@KlodFatherIf you look at the first couple of frames of that clip, it almost looks like the van cut over from the left lane to make that right turn and got clipped. I could be wrong, but looks that way to me going by the angle of the front of the van.
@@Sn0trocket - You may be very correct... But the camera on the house was not angled up high enough to see that in frame at least to me... I bet there is another camera in the rear of the house that may have caught these other angles of view that could change the outcome of the accident. This is why it is so very important to have a dash cam... and one that does not record the interior of the car and does not have speed logging except for fighting tickets. Some cameras allow you to render the video with the speed or other data omitted :) You never want to volunteer information to hang yourself.

The truck driver literally couldn't see that car, the guy pulled in right under his nose.
I was kind of shocked at the driver saying he did not trust the truck driver at all. What I saw was the car driving under the truck's blind spot and the truck moving forward at a speed proportionate to the load on the truck (in other words, not very fast).Even if the truck driver was at fault (not), trucks will win that argument every time. Better to slow down and give them room than be dead.

After 40 years of truck driving , I've given up . Driving standards of car drivers have become really bad and it's ALWAYS seen to be the truck drivers fault....trucks have got huge blind spots and cannot stop as quick as cars can....and most Uber drivers are NOT professional passenger carrying vehicle drivers ( I have a bus license AND a truck license )

Actually, some states are considered "no fault" states, so regardless of who caused an accident, they aren't cited for the accident. If a cop witnesses them doing something like running a red light, speeding, etc., they can be cited for that. But in my state, they cannot site a driver for being involved in an accident unless the cop actually witnesses the wrongdoing, or they can cite them for DUI if they are intoxicated. Regardless, insurance will always determine liability and the insurance of the person at fault will have to pay for any damages.

Yes. I would have gone to the police station and asked for a supervisor to complain about failure to do his duty and showed the video. Every time there is a video of the accident the cops NEED to watch it to see who is telling the truth. She straight up lied , she was even half way in the turn lane. I would also see a lawyer about possibly suing her for damages, if the state allows such.

it most definitely is not illegal to speed up to beat a yellow light unless the yellow light turns into a red light before you reach the intersection. however the person who was turning is at fault because they failed to yield to oncoming traffic. plus the cammer technically entered the intersection before the other person did

It most definitely is unless you can not make the stop safely or you are already in the intersection. Yellow does not mean “speed up.” This was not the case. The driver and the person turning would have been found both equally at fault. It is a bad driving habit to speed up and police if they wanted to be a jerk about it could pull you over but it’s one of those passes like crossing a double yellow line to make a turn into a parking lot. For insurance purposes they would’ve been both equally at fault.

Yellow light law is different in all 53 states.
California drivers handbook says:
A yellow traffic signal light means CAUTION. The light is about to turn red. When you see a yellow traffic signal light, stop, if you can do so safely. If you cannot stop safely, cautiously cross the intersection.
It is also illegal in most states to accelerate to beat the yellow.

The driver turning left had already entered the intersection and was almost all the way through before the light turned red. It looks like the cammer entered the intersection later than the first (which is why he tagged the tail-end of the other car). In some states (including mine), if both drivers are at fault for a traffic violation (such as racing the yellow light), then all bets are off and the car that enters the intersection first has the right of way. I bet this incident was a "field day" for both insurance companies dealing with it!

After watching these videos as often as I do, I think I’ve gotten to the point now where if I’m in the right lane and everybody in the left one or two lanes has stopped for some mysterious reason, I’m gonna slow down because I am going to fully expect that they’re stopping for a reason. Probably somebody turning left in front of them.

#30 I will say the Toyota driver's driving was erratic. However, you still have to maintain assured clear distance to the car in front of you. You can't just assume they are going to do something. That would be like going on green at a stop light and hitting the car in front of you because you thought they were going to go.
finally someone understands! I still believe the prius deserves the ticket (not the cammer), as well as being more than 50% at fault for the crash because the prius instigated the whole situation by impeding traffic for no valid reason + illegal lane change. With that said, the prius' illegal and erratic driving does not mean the cammer does not have a responsibility to avoid a crash. I was not there thought, there might have been mitigating factors (like a car about to rear-end the cammer) which explains why the cammer rammed the prius.

@@dherzog02 hate to split hairs here but 46 in the 40 zone is literally speeding by definition. I know, the norm is 5 over in residential and 10 over on the highway but in traffic like that... he was asking for it. This is why we call it *defensive driving.* You have to defend your vehicle against stuff like this. Yes, he will be shown 'not at fault' but he also has a wrecked vehicle and has to depend on insurance and bodywork to make him whole. A total hassle that could of been avoided by not hauling ass in traffic.
Also, cops dont care, they can and will ticket people for 5 over. I know, I got caught in a speed trap the other day on a service road. I did nothing that isnt being done 1000 times a day yet guess what, I lost $280 and on deferred adjudication. Now I cant even sneeze while driving or the ticket hits my record and my insurance rate will go up. ITS NOT WORTH IT.
When I have had problems with insurance company's I have filed complaints with the state attorney generals office. They have the power to ban them from the state. The insurance company will kiss your butt after getting a call from them. The SR from the ins. company was removed and everything was taken care of in a couple of days.

Back in the 1940's my dad was driving down a snowy hill in his dump truck when a pick up truck at the bottom of the hill, pulled out to cross at a cross street. The vehicle just spun it's tires and sat across dad's lane. He tried to go around the pick up truck but he hit in front of the cab and knocked the front axle, clean off of the pick up. Dad saved the man's life and the insurance company would not cover him because he left his lane. Something to consider when a collision is about to happen...
PSA: A flashing indicator signal light (blinker) does NOT give you automatic...or legal...right-of-way. The merging vehicle is REQUIRED to yield right-of-way.
PSA: Never tell them you have a dashcam until AFTER they lie to the police and/or file fraudulent insurance claims...then hit them with the truth!
PSA: Try to always call out the plate number...the camera doesn't always pick it up correctly.
Clip 30: Just take a copy of the video to that officer's commander/captain to have them order the officer to correct the report to reflect the actual events of the collision.
Here is the problem. He didn't wait for her to clear the lane before he proceeded. Her erratic driving doesn't mean you can hit her, and it also should be a sign to be even more alert.
11:35 - Hate to say it, but it was the cammer's fault in this instance. Was the Prius driver a complete moron for not knowing where they were going and making an epically bad lane change? Sure! But you were basically at a complete stop and then pulled the old "I'm mad, so I'm going to smash the gas pedal as soon as my lane is clear." Except it hadn't cleared yet and you lurched into them. I'm genuinely shocked that an insurance company would place fault on the Prius driver.

The Prius driver looked to be purposefully trying to get the dash cam driver to come to a complete stop, meaning the Prius driver was impeding traffic and can be at fault for any accidents caused. You can be at fault for going too fast, too slow, or coming to a complete stop. In this case, they came to a complete stop to merge into a completely clear left turn lane.
@@Bugaboos Not sure how you can come to that conclusion without seeing what the traffic looks like in the turn lane. Maybe they were just panicking and hesitated again because more traffic was coming in the turn lane.

Bad drivers never miss their turn though and it was very apparent that they were a very bad driver.
You either get into the lane or you don’t if it’s unsafe but your mistake of not already being in the turn lane does not give you the right to impede traffic.

@@Bugaboos I'm never defended the Prius driver. In fact, I said they were driving like a complete moron. And I agree with you that someone driving like this shouldn't be on the road. But that does not negate the fact that the cam car's impatience got the better of them and they gave it the gas before their path was clear.
What I've learned from this video:

2- Police are quite useless in most accident cases

Apparently it's ok in the USA and it's the fault of the driver failing to yield (give way as we say). Watched many videos and they still blame the other driver and I'm dumbfounded by this.

#26: You had more than enough time to brake when the light turned yellow. Yellow doesn't mean go faster. That ones on both of you for making assumptions about what the other was going to do.
Yellow doesn’t mean to stop. It means prepare to slow and stop if necessary, they were in the middle of the intersection when light was still yellow. White car assumed it was safe. White car has to merge safely still, failed to do so.

The white car turning left should’ve waited halfway in the intersection until the light was red before fully committing to the left turn. Had the cammer entered the intersection after a red, then it would be 100% his fault.
Yellow light law is different in all 53 states.
California drivers handbook says:
A yellow traffic signal light means CAUTION. The light is about to turn red. When you see a yellow traffic signal light, stop, if you can do so safely. If you cannot stop safely, cautiously cross the intersection.
It is also illegal in most states to accelerate to beat the yellow.

If you brake too hard the animals would almost gauranteed be injured and injured horses do not heal.

Besides at least in EU, that is not a main road and side road. Those are both main roads.
It is only considered a yield to main road if you cross e.g. a crosswalk, cycling lane or a clear curb showing that the side road ends and the main road starts.

I still think that the driver who didn’t have the dashcam was at fault, mainly because they saw that the driver with the dashcam didn’t slow down, yet still went causing a crash to form. I don’t know if there was a stop sign but if there was for the driver with the dashcam, they’re at fault for not stopping and going past a stop sign without slowing or stopping fully
