I buy the cheap bumble bee and the Cento oil packed tuna which is about $4.50. I figured once its mixed up with mayonnaise and whatever you throw in it (try chopped olives) it doesn't make much difference except if I had to eat it plain out of the can, maybe the oil would be better. But my child prefers the water packed. Maybe I'll give the slightly more expensive Bumble bee a try.

I really enjoyed this taste test video, very interesting results, well done. Will certainly try your ingredients, you made simple tuna sandwiches mouth watering. This is a must try - using the cheaper brands LOL

Ortiz is the Ferrari of canned seafood. Obviously US price is kinda inflated (here you can get the 25$ one for no more than 10€) Also each fish is caught always with rod and handpicked.

When I was a schoolboy, my favorite sandwich to bring for lunch was tunafish with black pepper - yes, I was that kid with the stinky locker!
great experiment, Chef Ange! I use tinned fish a lot (tuna, salmon, herring, smoked trout, octopus, squid, anchovies and sardines!). The only tinned fish I don't care for is mackerel.
I ventured into some of the spanish tunas during covid quarantine (too much time at home!) and found I liked the $10 one, but not enough to use it regularly for the price difference. I do like it for tuna salad.
I saw one $40 (jar, not tin) being marketed as "tuna loin," but didn't buy it coz we know we can get a good steak for that price! 🤣
One thing I noticed is that prices for all brands go up and down, so that $10 tin might be $6 next month, so it pays to monitor and stock up when the prices dip. They're great pantry staples with long shelf lives, so be patient and wait for a good price.
Best deal is usually Kirkland (Costco) coz their standard can is 7 oz. vs Bumble Bee or Chicken of the Sea's 5 oz
