    This is the most realistic space move ever! I loved it! Don't believe the bad reviews from people confused by this movie. This film is the real deal. If you are a true science fiction fan tired of derivative tripe, looking for something, original, and truly disturbing, then you will want to watch this, especially if you liked the ending of "The Thing" or "2001". Forget about space as a backdrop for laser battles and furry creatures. This film examines the real effects of space travel with tragic realism. Outer-space itself becomes the monster, a cold dark void that can drive a person insane, and the realism makes it more horrifying than any creature could.

      What is that spear?!?

    • @JohnSmith-td7hd
      @JohnSmith-td7hd Před 3 lety +1

      @@johnhaxby306 Apparently it's been 9 months(?!), but if I recall correctly, the movie is packed with meaning and metaphor about living as a human, and I think the spear is a metaphor for the purposelessness of life and existence. That you can try and try but you'll never really find a purpose for anything. That the universe isn't here to save you. The spear was supposed to be a rescue ship, but instead it was an impenetrable, frustrating mystery with no utility. The ship is a metaphor for Earth / living as a human: Off course, going nowhere, dying (Both for humans and the Earth/ship), (religious) leaders telling people (often laughable) lies to keep them from despairing and to stay in control (Why would you find a planet to turn around with, between Earth and Mars, that you've never heard of?), people desperately and actively engaged in using drugs or whatever they can (the orange glowing AI device) to not face reality, projecting nicer realities over their reality (the projector = movies, video games, Instagram, etc). It's very existentialist. The spear really bugged me too! :D Taken totally literally, I think it had to have been made by an alien civilization as a weapon and it just found its way to the Aniara coincidentally. A spear that big, launched as a weapon, might be a doomsday device, and maybe it was used already and destroyed something enormous (like a whole planet's occupants) and just kept drifting through space afterwards. Hey maybe the "space debris" that started all this was a destroyed planet? :) If you want to see an even less direct movie, watch Mulholland Drive (But that's David Lynch, so good luck). And if you want a movie that's just pure metaphor, watch Zero Theorem.

      @@johnhaxby306 It was most likely a thing sent to seed life by a far more advanced civilization, or a probe, or just legit alien space junk. In the books they don't even bring it on board and it just flies right by them on the same path.
      It was left very open for imagination and it was mostly used to give people on board false hope in a sense. It was just a very odd coincidence that it just happened to be on the exact same path as aniara. The whole movie is full of coincidences when you think about it they hit a tiny screw in the vast of space, the evasive maneuver they had to make put them on the same path as the spear and on a perfect path to an earth like planet.
      I like to think its either a probe or meant to seed new life on that earth like planet. In both the book and movie is is on a perfect path to that planet the same as aniara was.

    I went for days searching all the internet looking for a movie like this one, i saw it maybe 15 years ago. It´s about colony ship (thousands of passengers with botanical specimens) looking for another earth, they were all at cryosleep but something went wrong, few woke up and started to wake up crew members to save the ship. They were knocked off course and had serious problems for a while but then when they thought all hope were lost and all colony were doomed they found out but then they were at the bottom of an ocean in another planet earth like! At the end all pods with passengers merged to the surface and they woke up in the new earth!

      The passengers of the ship were given a drug to speed up their evolution to help them adapt to their new planet. Certain crew members who were let loose from cryosleep on the crashed ship by a certain crew member who was suffering from “Pandorum” actually evolved ( or devolved) into a cannibalistic warrior tribe who hunted newly released crew members. It’s a Great Sci-Fi/ Horror/ Mystery with one of my favorite endings of all time. First time I watched it I had no idea where it was going & it kept me guessing right up until the end. Which you don’t see too much from todays Movies. Most of them give away the plot & ending in a 2 Minute trailer.

      It's not explained in the film. I kind of assumed that resources everywhere are severely low. I read that there were around a dozen similar ships. If they were carrying 8,000, that means only about 100,000 people are evacuating the entire planet. Although its presented like a cruise ship, its inhabitants are still in a dire situation. This is hinted when the MR reminds a man having a panic attack that their original destination, Mars, wasn't going to be a walk in the park.
      My thoughts are that another ship would most likely be at full capacity anyway. It also appears that the ship didn't have any sort of communication for some reason.

    Que porcaria de filme. Pra você que pensa que vai ver alguma coisa relacionada ao Espaço... Está muito enganado! O filme parecia ter um tema interessante, ATÉ QUE.... A LACRAÇÃO VEIO! DO NADA, o filme passa a deixar de ser um filme de ficção no Espaço com uma premissa interessante pra se tornar um daqueles teatrinhos baratos de DCE de universidade pública. Simplesmente, você só vê suruba e todo mundo pelado o resto do filme, sem contexto algum, só orgia e nada mais. Não é de se admirar que a crítica amou esse filme e chama de obra prima. A crítica é esquerdalha, eles amam essas coisas bizarras sem sentido voltada a putaria e nojeira.
    Novamente digo... Se a intenção é assistir um filme inteligente sobre ficção no Espaço, CAI FORA, aqui só tem putaria barata e nada mais. Chega a ser bizarro, sério.

      Maybe just watch it with an open mind like you would anything else (hopefully). It looks like an entire ship of people slowly going insane once confronted with their own mortality, and that of the entire human race. Like Lord of the Flies in space maybe. Should be good.

      This looks like it's based on the poem by Swedish Poet Harry Martinson, written in 1956. It became an opera in 1959. It's a really creepy, messed up story. It's not politcally correct. From the trailer it looks like they are doing it right. Can't wait to see it.

    Just watched it on Hulu. This was the worst movie I have seen in a very long time. It felt like there were 5 different script writers who each wrote a certain section of the movie bc literally it goes from one idea to the next to the next.. The ending is just awful and one of the people you are supposed to care about does something so crazy with no logic and it being so major we get about 30 seconds of screen time devoted to it. Choppy and disjointed. My Shih-Tzu could make a better movie than this!

      “No science”? What do you define as “science”? If anything, it’s bleakly realistic. Humanity is a speck in infinite space, but we can’t face that truth. That’s reality for you: bleak.

    I did watch this. I thought it was a great plot but a disaster of a conclusion. I can care less about the homosexuality forced on us (I don't see why it's relevant). I agree one does have to ask what is the point or purpose of life? The author believes there is none so this is his/her pitty party about suicide. This genre is like a child crying that their toy was taken away. It's n byot intellectual, new, or interesting. Can I have my two hours back please?
