ANIARA Trailer (2019) - Swedish Sci-Fi Movie👽👽
no
This trailer doesn't even remotely describe the amazing intensity of this film. You HAVE to see it.
This is the most realistic space move ever! I loved it! Don't believe the bad reviews from people confused by this movie. This film is the real deal. If you are a true science fiction fan tired of derivative tripe, looking for something, original, and truly disturbing, then you will want to watch this, especially if you liked the ending of "The Thing" or "2001". Forget about space as a backdrop for laser battles and furry creatures. This film examines the real effects of space travel with tragic realism. Outer-space itself becomes the monster, a cold dark void that can drive a person insane, and the realism makes it more horrifying than any creature could.
Thank you for sharing with us! 🔥🍿So nice to read a thorough and analytical review, great stuff! ☝️☝️☝️

U are 100% correct
Prospect and arrival are really good sci-fi movies. I'm bout to watch this hoping its good like those!
@@FromTheVille_ thank you for that suggestion. I will be watching Prospect tonight!
Just watched it in cinema. I am space travel optimist, though i liked it because it prompted me to think what , as a scientiest, i can do to help to avoid such situation in future! Thought-provocking movie+ loved design and special effects. Of course we will have many unhappy endings like that during space exploration but we will have good ones too! Wish we ll have more such movies🙂
I watched this movie like 5 times when the DVD came. There's so much depth that I had to keep exploring.
What is that spear?!?
@@johnhaxby306 Apparently it's been 9 months(?!), but if I recall correctly, the movie is packed with meaning and metaphor about living as a human, and I think the spear is a metaphor for the purposelessness of life and existence. That you can try and try but you'll never really find a purpose for anything. That the universe isn't here to save you. The spear was supposed to be a rescue ship, but instead it was an impenetrable, frustrating mystery with no utility. The ship is a metaphor for Earth / living as a human: Off course, going nowhere, dying (Both for humans and the Earth/ship), (religious) leaders telling people (often laughable) lies to keep them from despairing and to stay in control (Why would you find a planet to turn around with, between Earth and Mars, that you've never heard of?), people desperately and actively engaged in using drugs or whatever they can (the orange glowing AI device) to not face reality, projecting nicer realities over their reality (the projector = movies, video games, Instagram, etc). It's very existentialist. The spear really bugged me too! :D Taken totally literally, I think it had to have been made by an alien civilization as a weapon and it just found its way to the Aniara coincidentally. A spear that big, launched as a weapon, might be a doomsday device, and maybe it was used already and destroyed something enormous (like a whole planet's occupants) and just kept drifting through space afterwards. Hey maybe the "space debris" that started all this was a destroyed planet? :) If you want to see an even less direct movie, watch Mulholland Drive (But that's David Lynch, so good luck). And if you want a movie that's just pure metaphor, watch Zero Theorem.
@@JohnSmith-td7hd Or a giant phallus?
If we are being pretentious, we should probably mention phallic symbolism?
@@johnhaxby306 It was most likely a thing sent to seed life by a far more advanced civilization, or a probe, or just legit alien space junk. In the books they don't even bring it on board and it just flies right by them on the same path.
It was left very open for imagination and it was mostly used to give people on board false hope in a sense. It was just a very odd coincidence that it just happened to be on the exact same path as aniara. The whole movie is full of coincidences when you think about it they hit a tiny screw in the vast of space, the evasive maneuver they had to make put them on the same path as the spear and on a perfect path to an earth like planet.
I like to think its either a probe or meant to seed new life on that earth like planet. In both the book and movie is is on a perfect path to that planet the same as aniara was.
Still talk and think about this extraordinary film after a year of my first viewing. It really covers many aspects about space, time, and the human experience. I Hope more films like this are made. But its going to be a hard one to top. MUST SEE!
Thank you for sharing this great comment Robert, happy to hear you enjoyed it!
Hey you should watch Prospect and Arrival. There really good also
This is one of those movies that’s a once in a lifetime thing.
I've just saw it - I have been waiting for this for years. It is... you won't be dissapointed people.
I guess I watched a different movie than you bc this was by far one of the worst movies I have ever seen! What the heck? At first I thought it was about Mina, then about the lesbo chick then that Isogel goes all psycho and then we end with it going 5 million years into the future? It's like they couldn't figure out what they wanted it to be about. Awful, just awful.
Donna Lynn agreed it was so much going on like the story was everywhere it didn’t know what it wanted to do the mima was interesting then boom self destruct and what about the “recuse pod” like who sent it what was it’s purpose did it contain fuel what were they suppose to do with it and I guess them showing the planet 5,000,000 years I to the future was suppose to be what they were waiting on to sling shot around it just took that long to get there
@@donnalynn2 My sweet Universe, you (both) don't understand even a bit of this movie...
@@MayaWu44 Well by all means, please enlighten us!
@@donnalynn2 Well, you are looking for some consistent story inside off-course ark ship, looking for some clear shape of main character, while main and only character, main and only story is that ark. It's lost and tumbled with more and more lunacy and chaos. Like Earth, shrinked to the size of a space ship... They are some recognizable persons in this movie, just to act as some story hook. You don't want to watch film about faceless mass of civilians aboard, right? So you have it. Ton of mental shortcuts packed into movie. And this planet, at the end - that was not a point for a slingshot. That was just a random planet where spaceship finished it's too long journey. Only with remnants of dna of it's passengers - for, in some distant future, it become life of this planet.
One of the greatest sifi ever!!!!
Thats saying alot right there
I have been waiting for a movie version of the Blomdahl opera ANIARA since I heard the haunting score in an LP vinyl record back in the early 70's.
Very good thought provoking Swedish movie. A must for sci fi fans who don't mind subs
An oddly beautiful and beautifully odd film. Solaris meets lost in space.
I'd pay A LOT of money to see THAT movie mashup.
A gigantic spaceship filled with passengers gets out of course in a accident on its journey to Mars with no chanse to turn back. A deadly trip into the oblivion in another word waiting for the food and air to end. Good movie and Swedish made to. 👍
Well there are a couple of sex orgy scenes. That's how we know that it's a Swedish movie.
Wall-E but the drug trip ended and reality slaps you in the face
Fun Fact: Vulcans are brought out of healing comas by punching them in the face. Dr. Joseph M'Benga of the USS Enterprise Sickbay uses this method all the time.
Outstanding sci-fi movie. I got it on Blu-ray and I had no idea this existed before two years ago.
I went for days searching all the internet looking for a movie like this one, i saw it maybe 15 years ago. It´s about colony ship (thousands of passengers with botanical specimens) looking for another earth, they were all at cryosleep but something went wrong, few woke up and started to wake up crew members to save the ship. They were knocked off course and had serious problems for a while but then when they thought all hope were lost and all colony were doomed they found out but then they were at the bottom of an ocean in another planet earth like! At the end all pods with passengers merged to the surface and they woke up in the new earth!
I found several movies like this, checked the end but was nothing like i told. If someone remember this movie with this end PLEASE tell me!
Kinda sounds like the movie Pandorum (2009)
Exactly that one, actually I didn't remember being a terror movie but someone told me and I checked the end to confirm, they were right. Thanks guys
@@Eric-dh2hn i enjoyed that movie lot of action.
that is pandorum. excellent film!
Definitely Pandorum…
Love that Movie….
The passengers of the ship were given a drug to speed up their evolution to help them adapt to their new planet. Certain crew members who were let loose from cryosleep on the crashed ship by a certain crew member who was suffering from “Pandorum” actually evolved ( or devolved) into a cannibalistic warrior tribe who hunted newly released crew members. It’s a Great Sci-Fi/ Horror/ Mystery with one of my favorite endings of all time. First time I watched it I had no idea where it was going & it kept me guessing right up until the end. Which you don’t see too much from todays Movies. Most of them give away the plot & ending in a 2 Minute trailer.
If you’re reading this comment just stop the trailer and watch this movie immediately. It’s an underrated masterpiece.
*When Cruises Go Crazy* - Tonight on Channel 5
This is the sci fi I wanna see
Prepare to be disappointed, ha ha. This looks like some kind of dirty porno with space decor. & cult orgies.
Ha ha ha true....no space only that weird space ship.....
It was a good movie... really drives home thae vast distances / lengths of time that one deals with in space.
Seventh Wonder's song "The Great Escape" brought me here
Stunning and bleak movie. We need more cinema like this.
great movie
Very well done, and if you like Nietche you’re gonna love it. If you don’t like winding up in the fetal position despairing over human nature, avoid this wonderful film.
Who's here after Elvis the Alien reviewed this.

They had needless full-blown sex scenes, in shower even; just for the sake of it. They are unhealthy examples for humans and more.
Its sad that they humiliated themselves like this.
@@loturzelrestaurant ?
@@loturzelrestaurant the actors humiliated themselves or the characters?
@@loturzelrestaurant I think its a great example of escapism though. It shows how everyone starts depending on different things like religion and happiness and drugs (the machine that broke down) and working out. It shows how serious escapism can get.
Intressant film

Excelente, One of the best films!
The basic premise here is very familiar, did they do a hollywood remake of this?
Watched last night, I’m so depressed now😝🤣, excellent job to all involved even though there are parts that are really quiet and slow, really gives you something to think about...hang in there? Join a cult and go batshit nuts? Suicide? How would you accept that your days mean nothing as you drift into the black void? Do you wait for old age and hope that the food systems don’t break? Or that there are still enough people to run the ship?

Well you've convinced me, since I love Robotech. Any mecha in the movie?
This is pretty sad movie.

I was so exited until they started taking and I realized that it is a swedish movie.. (I am a Swede) Now my excitement got destroyed lol
En fckins skrue?...😂😂
I had no idea that parts of mechanical equipment could "skrue"
Why can’t another ship just pick them up? Is that explained in the film?
It's not explained in the film. I kind of assumed that resources everywhere are severely low. I read that there were around a dozen similar ships. If they were carrying 8,000, that means only about 100,000 people are evacuating the entire planet. Although its presented like a cruise ship, its inhabitants are still in a dire situation. This is hinted when the MR reminds a man having a panic attack that their original destination, Mars, wasn't going to be a walk in the park.
My thoughts are that another ship would most likely be at full capacity anyway. It also appears that the ship didn't have any sort of communication for some reason.
Logical answer. Besides, from what I understand after watching that particular scene in a different video recap, the the Translator wasn't allowed to tell the man having the panic attack in a language that the man could understand how tough life on Mars would really be like.
oi
Jeff Bezos ,Rich Branson and the rest of the wanna be space rangers better take heed
Has Jeff Bezos told Lauren Sanchez about this movie yet?
The thing with this movie is, it is very ambitious and a good vibe. But the story is everywhere. It could have been a movie for each concept it introduced. This is why it is not that great of a movie. This movie is at least 4 movies in one.
Couldn't disagree more. You should read the book I bet it would change your mind
I really enjoyed this movie, though I resent Mimarobe for *spoiler* not protecting Isagel during the orgy. She clearly didn’t even want the baby. I feel like that’s the real reason she committed suicide.
I wish this was in English
@MEanME I can't read whilst watching a movie at the same time, no 😧
Just learn Swedish.
It has subtitles and it’s on Tubi
Hmmm..... bunch of hippies stuck in space. Do you want us to hope the space ship blows up?
That's a space shopping mall with artificial gravity? Looks really bad.
super whack
I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder. I don't get it st all. Where's the action? And those subtitles! Is this art? I think I'll stay with oils and pastels.
The inside of a space ship looks like a cheap shopping center... Cmon man.... U can do better than this
So after 5000 years life was non existing on the ship and they passed another earth in another solar system that may have supported life but there was none to be had as life was impossible to sustain after 5000 yrs in space all food sources water and oxygen was depleted long before then I'm sure they would have been lucky if they had, had even 50 yrs in outer space before complete depletion of resources
It was 5 million years until they reach the a planet.
I was disappointed.
Que porcaria de filme. Pra você que pensa que vai ver alguma coisa relacionada ao Espaço... Está muito enganado! O filme parecia ter um tema interessante, ATÉ QUE.... A LACRAÇÃO VEIO!
Novamente digo... Se a intenção é assistir um filme inteligente sobre ficção no Espaço, CAI FORA, aqui só tem putaria barata e nada mais. Chega a ser bizarro, sério.
This movie is not as good as the book at all. Just read the book. Its written by Harry Martinsson and was published in 1956.
So, basically "Avenue5" only Swedish and unfunny.
When Elon Musk sends the liberals to mars...
Stupid comment
Spoiler Alert: Elon Musk isn't a liberal.
Haven't watched the trailer, but this being a Swedish movie, I'm guessing some kind of politically correct messaging is buttered on thickly? I hope I'm wrong.
Maybe just watch it with an open mind like you would anything else (hopefully). It looks like an entire ship of people slowly going insane once confronted with their own mortality, and that of the entire human race. Like Lord of the Flies in space maybe. Should be good.
@@discoskull Yeah, if I hope I am wrong, that means by definition that I will judge only after I have seen it. I am Norwegian and well familiar with the escalating fanaticism of Sweden, so my worry is fully warranted. Swedes are still talented, so maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.
This looks like it's based on the poem by Swedish Poet Harry Martinson, written in 1956. It became an opera in 1959. It's a really creepy, messed up story. It's not politcally correct. From the trailer it looks like they are doing it right. Can't wait to see it.

Haha, the most sick and depressed movie of the year. Of course, it's Swedish so huge LGBT propaganda.
And yet you obviously missed the heterosexual orgy scene. What do you have against the Swedish?
Just watched it on Hulu. This was the worst movie I have seen in a very long time. It felt like there were 5 different script writers who each wrote a certain section of the movie bc literally it goes from one idea to the next to the next.. The ending is just awful and one of the people you are supposed to care about does something so crazy with no logic and it being so major we get about 30 seconds of screen time devoted to it. Choppy and disjointed. My Shih-Tzu could make a better movie than this!
It is episodic. And contrary to what you write, the episodes are tightly knit.
The poem is the same way. I'm sure there's some kind of structure in there, but I definitely didn't have the brains to figure it out so I had to put it away.. lol!
Watch Pandorum much better movie.
What language will your Shih-Tzu be making it's film in? Asking for a friend.
Stupid movie.....Not even a science fiction.
Just a nasty stories happening inside a spacecraft.
Spacecraft going nowhere.........OH God....
Have forwarded the movie to know the real plot....but it finally ends meaninglessly....crap... No science....not sure about fiction 😑😐😑
“No science”? What do you define as “science”? If anything, it’s bleakly realistic. Humanity is a speck in infinite space, but we can’t face that truth. That’s reality for you: bleak.
Because space travel certainly doesn't involve any science, it's not like scientific gain is the entire purpose of it or anything, don't blame the movie because you misinterpreted what it was about.

Excuse me, but I think that your Universal Translator is broken.
I did watch this. I thought it was a great plot but a disaster of a conclusion. I can care less about the homosexuality forced on us (I don't see why it's relevant). I agree one does have to ask what is the point or purpose of life? The author believes there is none so this is his/her pitty party about suicide. This genre is like a child crying that their toy was taken away. It's n byot intellectual, new, or interesting. Can I have my two hours back please?
Heterossexuality is forced on us too... I didn´t see the movie. I don´t know nothing about the story line, but I have the certainty that the homossexuality is just a relantionship like heterossexuality. I like to see naturality
