CZcams does pay creators ad revenue, I receive just enough to put gas in my boat, the real reward is helping and entertaining others, comments like yours keep me going, thanks!

      Dana, you will be surprised how fast it comes back to you. The jet boat takes a little getting used to, move very slow around docks to avoid damage. Good luck with your beautiful new boat! Thanks for watching too. Cheers!

      @@CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore Thank you. I added the Cobra Jet steering to it, so I am anxious to see how that helps. I own a 21 Sea-Doo RXTX 300 so I am a little familiar with the jets, but I know that small inputs is the best for a boat when docking..

    Nice handling of that jet boat Captain! I am jealous you still get to run that beautiful boat in November. Here in South Jersey on the Great Egg Harbor River our Yamaha boat is off the dock and wrapped up for winter. Don't wait too long to winterize as we've already had some freeze temps. I'd like to see your after trip flushing technique and what desalting solution you use? Thanks.

      @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Greg, going to winterize this week. I flush for a few minutes with "Saltaway", followed by a good soap wash down of the boat. You just gave me some ideas for another video, but it will have to wait until next season. Thanks for watching!

    • @greggifford361
      @greggifford361 Před 3 lety +1

      @@CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore I'll look for it next season. I have to flush in float since I dock the boat in fresh brackish water. I pinch the sea water intake and plug in a small inline hose solution tank to deliver fresh water and salt terminator mix to flush the engine at the end of the weekend. When you winterize here's a tip, try the Camco frost ban 2000 red anti-freeze for marine engines. Offers better corrosion protection. Enjoy..

    I wish the boat ramp i use had a dock alongside the ramp like that. Would be much easier to solo load & unload.

      Totally agree, I’d be lost without a floating dock alongside. I use several different ramps and they all have one. Thanks for watching!

    Too many things that can go wrong especially at a crowded dock for this technique, to work safely and consistently

      Absolutely. We’ve been boating in our local lake for about three years now using federal park boat ramps. They’re in good shape but between the jet ski crowd and beginner boaters I don’t see how this would work. Looking at private marina for this season.

    Great video…nice instructions. Thinking about a Yamaha boat. Have you ever had a problem picking up debris, crab pot, trot Line, etc?
    I would be boating in the Chesapeake and there are always obstacles like that to maneuver around. Really like your style and a new subscriber.

      Hey Bill, thanks for watching! In the 8 seasons I have been Jetboating we once needed to utilize the clean out port to remove seaweed which was blocking the flow of water to the impeller. 30 seconds and we were off again on our way. Yes you should avoid debris in the water and don't let ski ropes go floating under the boat, but this is the case even with propeller driven boats. I love the safety of no propeller and would buy another Yamaha in a heart beat.

    Captain Leon, Do you buy into waxing the hull of your boat to provide less water friction and a smoother glide to increase speed performance? is there a boat waxing video possible next spring?

    • @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore
      @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore  Před 3 lety

      Greg, I do periodically wax my hull (skipped it this year). I'm not sure it increases performance, but it certainly can't hurt. Besides looking great it does make removal of sea water grime easier. Could be a Spring video, we will see!

    Awesome video. Very funny with great tips and ideas. Definitely subscribing for future videos. Question..I noticed that you use the jet drive to push you all the way up to the bow roller on the trailer. I've seen another video where they do the same thing. Can you also stop just prior, hook up the winch line and then crank it all the way up to the bow roller? That's how I've always done it. I'm sure either way is fine but thought I'd ask.
    Also, I sold my 2002 Bayliner Capri 195 last year and I'm looking for a new boat. I've been researching the Yamaha 212XD but I've been a little hesitant as I have never owned a jet boat. I've heard great things about them and I'm actually taking one for a test drive this weekend. We'll see but I'm leaning that way. Thanks again!

      Hey Jim, thanks for watching. There are endless ways to launch and recover. Sometimes the angle of the ramp and the level of the tide requires modifying ones standard approach. I love my Jet Boat, it's awesome. Besides the comfort and safety of no propeller, traveling in a foot or two of water without hitting bottom is great. They also require little to no maintenance. Mine has almost 300 hours and all I do is change the oil and plugs once a season, the plugs don't need it, but why not. Good luck!!

    Captain Leon, Is your Yamaha boat cover waterproof or just water resistant? Next spring I'm aiming to try Scotchguard spray on to attempt to waterproof my Yamaha factory boat cover. Tired of the wet seep through and also having to plastic wrap it in winter. Possible project video?

    • @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore
      @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore  Před 3 lety +1

      The Black Deluxe Yamaha cover is pretty much water resistant. After a few years it does start to leak. I have tried spaying it with Sunbrella 303 fabric guard. It does work as you see the water beading off the cover, but a few weeks later, it starts to fade. In the Winter I use the white shipping cover which is more protective and does fine with rain, ice and snow.
