Nice launch! I woul add just 2 small notes: Going slightly forward before the launch you can feel the pressure of A's on your thumbs - and you would like it to be equal on both sides, or adjust the position sideways just a hair. Then take 1-2 steps back, not loosing your direction. Second: you started to pull with throttle on idle. This is safe but hard. You'd better make a flow of air over your lying wing with your motor at close to full throttle, then idle for a sec and then not wasting time apply gradually a 1/3 to 1/2 throttle as you starting to pull (of course, do not lean forward at all when you start to pull - rely on your motor thrust!). This guaranties the wing comes up evenly, catches your "artificial wind" and you save your effort on pulling and run freely instead with your straight back! Good launching! (If you are too cautious about pulling with the thrust, think of trike pilots - they just have to apply the throttle on pull!)
ah... zero wind... my old enemy! yesterday i finished the maiden flight of my DIY electric paramotor for exactly that reason. video is up. now i hope this will help me to no wind launches and get my fat a$$ up when the gasoline crap couldnt get me airborne even i ran a marathon
Ahh the old nil winder.Haha..I like to blow some wind over my wing with the motor.I walk all the way back to the fabric,hit it hard and keep driving.Once that glider comes up past the powerband Im on power and still on the As..WHile Im running driving forward I start to lean back but not until I have a good wing over head.Powered forwards from below the powerband are sketchy seen alot of people loose fingers and stuff thats why I wait till shes over head and the lines are away from the hoop.If you start your drive back from the fabric she should pop right up!!
Thanks for those tips! I think I've been heisitant to blow the prop over the wing because I'm concerned about adding a variable (and I hate hate HATE a difficult launch). It seems to be the way its commonly done though so I should probably man up and do it :^D
That's pretty much what my instructor said. No power until you can look to the side and see the glider up. Because if you catch the lines in the prop you could chop off your fingers.

For me (and this is probably an indictment of my ground-handling skills) I do it to get the wing inflated and (mostly) to get me going fast out of the gun so that the wing doesn't collapse from not having enough airflow.
Bryan could I use your video in an example of technique most commonly used by Low Hangpoint Pilots as compared to High Hangpoints? I dont want to use without permission

Adding that much power before the wings up over 10 o’clock is Shirley going to get you some lines eaten. Ask me how I know ;)

do you use regular fuel?
I use premium unleaded in the engine (Vittorazi Moster 185), recommended by the manual.
