This is how I like to remember Carrie Fisher. She was fantastic.
Dang gonna make me cry 😅
These old episodes felt a lot more intimate and less over produced. I think that's why I like his podcast more than his newer show episodes. Seeing Carrie here really brings back some good memories.
The format was falling apart, because television was falling apart. I see it now. You're right. Shit had enough room to breathe back then.
Had a similar thought watching. Was thinking how much more laid-back Conan seems in this one, where now his personality seems to come off as over-the-top. This is a throw-back to an era that is now gone. Feels like such a long time ago, but also feels refreshing to watch.
Famous people were less guarded before the Internet was ubiquitous. Not just the lack of social media, but the lack of TMZ, Drudge Report, Perez Hilton and the like. You only had tabloids, and they would give you a chance to buy them off first.
I feel like Conan has a ton of respect for her and is a little nervous while talking to her.
He was a rookie interviewer, he was nervous in most interviews anyway.
Wouldn’t you be too? Or anyone, for that matter
At that time, I think Conan handled it very well. From what I´ve seen of Carrie she´s very "real" and that makes other people more comfortable.
I mean, Carrie Fisher
Probably his crush from forever.
Always liked Carrie Fisher, intellectual, funny, the whole package, gone way too soon. We miss you Carrie.
like so many legends.
I remember her being more bright than she appears in this interview.
@@Eman-vp5wk Everyone has off days. She battled dome real demona late in her life, I suspect you know.
Carrie Fisher always "perched" in chairs.
Cocaine.
My lap would have been welcome.
Because her feet would hit the floor. She's 4_11
2 of my favorite people having a conversation. Conan Obrien and Carrie Fisher, this is gold
Both are unique and awesome
Kudos to whoever does these transfers from analog SD. Excellent work, perfectly transferred, deinterlaced and upscaled. Looks as good as it can possibly look given the source.
"analog SD"?
Does "SD" stand for source data or something?
@@herrbonk3635 No, standard definition.
@@QuantumBraced I see, but what is meant by that exactly? American 525 lines NTSC video?
@@herrbonk3635 Yes, NTSC analog video.
“Elvis Hitler” is a phrase that I will never forget. 😂😅😂
Her wit was up there with Frank Zappa
czcams.com/video/4FFgxJsjqkg/video.html
There you go. Elvis Hitler was played on college radio stations in the 1980's in between the Dead Kennedys and local bands.
Bill Hitler was Der Furher’s half nephew. Born a British citizen, he moved to Germany and tried blackmailing Uncle Adolph with allegations about Jewish ancestry, but wisely got the hell out of Germany when Hitler asked him to renounce his British citizenship. He found himself touring the US after publication of a magazine article, “Why I Hate My Uncle”, when Poland was invaded. Bill petitioned FDR to let him serve in the US Navy, and was eventually accepted in 1944.

Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds were absolutely beautiful. Loved em both and they're dearly missed R.I.P Queens
She was unique and f'n awesome! A pretty rare combo! Always our Princess!
Who loved cocaine.
@@Wayzor_ lots of people did/do but there's only 1 princess Lea, so what's your point? Just trying to speak negatively about the dead?
She’s so vibrant, witty, and beautiful here, and then it hits me that she is no longer here. What a loss not having her around.
Damn, Carrie Fisher had so much to give us and Hollywood blew it.
You definitely get the impression there's a ton of ideas rattling around in her head that, like she said, never made it to the final cut. Maybe ahead of her time? Margot Robbie and Jennifer Aniston have their own production companies and are making their own movies today, like Barbie.
Is it Hollywood shot her down or is it that she didn’t quite tie all the ends up consistently? I do agree there is something there, but I also get the feeling that she lets ideas kinda die in her.
She is super witty and charming!
Dang, Conan and Carrie lookin' so young! Man, I miss her. Crazy to think this interview took place only eleven years after Return of the Jedi.
Hollywood stars like this will never die...they will live within our screens forever.
Her death absolutely devastated me. An icon and a legend. RIP.
And the next day her mom died. Just devastating.
2016 was the year we lost BOWIE, PRINCE, GEORGE MICHAEL (so many others) and then CARRIE FISHER and DEBBIE REYNOLDS her Mum. Her presence was charismatic and Conan here gives praise to her wide range Creativity. She was a FORCE without STAR WARS. Rest in Power, beautiful one x!
And Lemmy too :(
@@charliegrs LENMY indeed, there were so many Greats that year, *sigh*
Leonard Cohen died in 16 as well.
and Alan Rickman
@@charliegrsLemmy died 2015 near his 70th birthday. But it started the death spiral to post art boredom.
Hey I recognize her. That's Tom Hanks' wife in the movie "The Burbs"! When I see Carrie Fisher, that's the first movie that comes to my mind, of course.
It's Jedi. You fool NO ONE lol
Blues Brothers!
I saw The Burbs more often than Star Wars growing up. For me, I think, it’s at least half-unironically true.
@@andrewlivingston1590 You need to watch Shampoo.Small cameo but well worth it.
Yeah...But I'm trying to figure out what that "iron bikini" comment was about? 🤔
Argh, these fleeting, wonderful, moments in time. Thank goodness we can watch so many of them again.
She was a brilliant woman. I’ll always be grateful for her performance as Princess Leia.
Despite the whiny Luke character, saved the series.
@@inyobill she had an excellent dynamic with Harrison Ford
@@inyobill Showing some emotions doesn't mean whiny.
@@voiceovershill7620 True that, another legend, IMHO.
@@NuntiusLegis oh. ok. So, you don't believe I saw emotions from the other characters? Or are you implying I see them also as whiny?
What a delight. Love her sense of humor.
She was amazing. Love to hear her honesty.
This was just lovely to see!
My all time dream lady.
such an original, spontaneic person
Never seen this, and I watched Conan in this era, and Carrie Fisher is really great and just... "Everything" in it.
I remember reading in an article when the first Star Wars came out that she said the cast would often threaten to torture George Lucas by tieing him up and reading him lines from his script. 😂 From then on I didn't see her just as stunningly beautiful, but also as scathingly funny.
May the fourth be with you all, happy Star Wars Day!
She was so charismatic. A je ne sais qoius that is usually claimed by a romantic.Phenomenal presence in everything she worked on.
Je Ne Sais Qoius that's my favorite Jedi!
@@ThatsOnCZcams She should have been a Jedi, fu** the "woke" shouters.
Carrie was a genuinely talented and charming person. I was born the year that The Empire Strikes Back came out, so she was such a big part of my childhood. That said, I didn't crush on her during my childhood years like I crushed on Kim Basinger, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Jennifer Connelly. But after Carrie passed away, I found myself watching many of her old interviews and crushing on her big time. She will forever be missed...
Okay, but the Doug Hitler thing is almost the actual backstory for Ben Solo. No one told him his grandfather was Darth Vader. He had to hear it on the news, and it turned him into the creep Kylo Ren.
Carrie Fisher is a smoke show. Love her.
Simply Wooow.
Aww.. So lovely.
Carrie Fisher one of the coolest humans to ever walk the planet
She was such a beautiful and funny person.
The first time I met my future wife I thought she looked like Carrie Fisher. I was hooked.
'They don't wear bra's in space'.....or on chat shows either 🤣🤣RIP the beautiful Carrie Fisher 🥰
She was so good. We miss her. RIP
I miss Carrie
I miss her so much
RIP Princess
She had a quick wit
best princess ever
She was such a brilliant and talented woman. - Chris
I miss her so much.
Carrie Fisher - the most genuine actress ever to grace Hollywood.
I still miss her.
Carrie's a consummate comedian. Not many people can make me really laugh. She can. Way fun.
God, she rules.
I Really Enjoyed Old Television Shows As Compared To Today Show So Pure.
My princess.
Carrie is a true star.
Now I want to see the 'hilarious bits with the big ugly slug' outtakes.
She was such an astonishing lady. Beautiful, witty and intelligent! Probably too much to handle for most of her lovers self-esteem.
ESQUIRE Magazine was the that she didnt remember writing articles of rehab and drug addiction before Carrie was approached to write her first book titled "Postcards from the Edge".
I have to wonder… did Carrie drink from Conan’s mug? There’s one on the side table, like it’s put there for a guest.. she keeps eyeing it when she takes a sip like she’s expecting to be scolded or checking if it’s vodka or something 😂
The guest's mug is usually on the host's desk. It could be Andy Richter's mug on the left.
Man I forgot how cozy the original brown set was
watch her on the Craig Ferguson show appearances...they adored each other and have such a hoot together
What a gorgeous, funny woman.
Rest in Power, and nevertheless Happy May the 4th
She was the whole package.
And from a more…civilized age.
The Hollywood she grew up in was far from civilized, they just knew how to hide it.
One of the few good things about the Star Wars sequels was they very obviously allowed Carrie to put a lot more of herself into Leia. Especially in terms of her wit and humor.
She's very easy to like in those movies.
Shame she didn't actually get to finish her performance.
She was SEXY, man! So confident in her own skin, yet doesn’t take herself too seriously. Can be the butt of her own joke. She was awesome!
*"Postcards From The Edge",* translated into an amazing film.
How did Conan become LESS freckled over time?!
HAPPY STAR WARS DAY CARRIE
REST IN PEACE CARRIE IT IS TOO BAD YOU DO NOT GET CELEBRATE STAR WARS DAY

She was cool.
She always gave me the impression of being highly intelligent.
Also, she was a very good singer.
She was very funny
Charm level 1000
Conan is so young here.
Because I’ve only ever known her as Princess Leia, that’s the only person I hear when Carrie talks ❤
Good to see she is normal, a person 👍 with an idea 😅. Just like everyone else 😉
Damn, she still looked hot as fuck even in the 90's.
AND she had the personality, talent & sense of humor to go along with her stunning looks...that's the whole package right there, sir.
I was surprised to see how attractive she was.
Not surprising, she was only in her 30s here
Yes, she was still in her 30s. She actually looks a lot older.
Carrie Fisher just feels as such a close soul, it's hard to explain. And no, I don't mean the Force. I can't help to like that woman.
God she was stunning
Wow, back then I was too young to realize that she is absolutely gorgeous. Wow. And cool.
❤️
RIP Carrie Fisher.
I miss her.
An extremely charming woman.
What an amazing women! Don't meet many girls with beauty and spunk like that anymore
RIP Carrie
Saw her at Comic Expo Edmonton 3 months before she died, Everyone standing o'd😀
I wish they adapted the Thrawn trilogy into films in the 90s. The actors were the right, none of them were dead yet. Lucas should have done the sequels before the prequels.
Makes me cry :(
I had no idea she wrote and punched up scripts until after she passed away. Imagine if she punched up the prequels and had a better sequel trilogy. She was great in Family Guy too as Peter's boss. Man, I wish she was still here.
One of them was Attack of the Clones.
@@YodatheHobbit Geez! THAT'S the worst one. Imagine how much worse it would have been if she didn't punch it up.
Yeah, she was a "script doctor", but in that role you're not supposed to make it "different", you're supposed to make it sound like the original writer. I expect she probably did that with the prequels, as there are rumors she was involved.
@@Ruylopez778 That means there is a worse version of "I wish I could just wish away my feelings" out there.

What year was this?
Carrie Fisher and Margot Kidder were the two charismatic brunettes who made Leia and Lois believable on screen.
And both struggled with the same mental demons too..........................
Yes, great comment! Never really thought of the two as a comparison, but both so iconic
Imagine Carrie Fisher in a podcast today
Carrie was a National Treasure, deeply missed.
both so young. time really is an m-effer
Carrie is pretty sharp with the jokes.. 😂
She always was. Famous for that.
For context:
(4/9/94) This is the night after Kurt Cobain was found dead.
She is sitting there like when she was serving Jabba the Hutt
Carrie was so toasted in this appearance.
what a woman!
Carrie would be SO good on the podcast now. 😢
