Shamcey Supsup explains why Miss Universe PH can't accept trans women candidates yet

- Miss Universe Philippines national director Shamcey Supsup had a ready answer when asked on Thursday, September 14, why the pageant is still not accepting trans women applicants despite the international organization's earlier move to do so.
Supsup explained that while the Miss Universe Organization allows trans women to join the international competition, one of the requirements is "they have to be female in their legal documents, including passport."
"But the Philippines, right now, does not allow a change in your gender in your legal documents," she said.

I believe that the real concept of equality is giving everyone an opportunity to represent and celebrate their own community be it transgender, women and men. Miss universe is a celebration of women and miss international queen is also a celebration of women in their own community. Men, women and transgenders should have equal rights to represent their own and everybody should respect that. Leave the miss universe to women and the miss international queen to transwomen alone. Thats what equality is all about...

MU Org has a right vision/mission on this matter. To be totally accepted candidates should present legal documents implemented by the law.

If you are reading this Ms. Shamcey Supsup, please don't accept transgender, mothers, wives and women beyond 28 anymore. Don't get me wrong, I have high respects for our LGBTQIA brothers and sister, mothers, wives, etc. I don't want to be sound discriminatory but if you want to bring back the Miss Universe Philippines' prestige, class and alpha pageant status, then stick to SINGLE WOMEN ONLY which makes Miss Universe or Miss Universe Philippines the best pageant in the world and in the Philippines respectively.
When we heard the news that Miss Universe accepts women of all ages, I said that that will be the greatest downfall of Miss Universe. Too much inclusivity is a bad thing. There is no identity or branding anymore. Transwomen should have their own contest same with mothers, wives, women beyond 28. It is called PROPER CATEGORIZATION.
Maybe Khun Ann should create her own beauty contest and never tarnish the Miss Universe brand which has been known for being classy and prestigious for the past 70 years.

Question is, what if Transgerwoman went to court to have his gender changed including his documents (birth certificate, passport, govt issued IDs etc etc) There's one news cane out in the national tv that a certain Transgerwoman went to court and the court granted his petition to change his gender from Male to Female. Now, he was Married to his foreign fiancee and travelled abroad as a LEGITIMATE WOMAN

All pageants are all about its essence. Let me make this short. So if it’s ok for trans women to join miss universe , is it ok too for example Chelsea manalo to join any international trans pageant ? if it is , will it not ruin the essence of that pageant? It’s all confusing and not fair. I prefer that everyone stay it their own lane .

I don't agree that the simple reason that transgender are not allowed in MUP Philippines is that they are still considered as male, what if they pass a law that allows transgender to have their gender recognized as what they prefer would they then allow transwomen to enter MUP Philippines? I think they should stick to a rule that "natural born women" are the only ones allowed to join MUP Philippines.
I’m a father of 2 kids. But I want to join MU Ph.. and my wife & kids are supportive of that. I just need to dress up & they will help me with that.. Why would Shamcey not allow me, if the parent company MUO itself is allowing it already???

Who are you to say if I’m a man or woman?! It’s me, it’s my body.. and if I wake up today feeling like a woman, then so be it. Bakit nyo ko pipigilan? If Shamcey can’t adjust her beliefs, then better resign as director of MUPh. MUO itself is open to the idea & they are not discriminating. So why would Shamcey deny that? At kayo naman wala kayong karapatan humusga sa kin or sa mga katulad ko. Times have changed. Anyone now can be Miss Universe. You need to accept that is the new meaning of Miss Universe & what they stand for. Inclusivity & diversity.
So is MUPH creating sufficient awareness about the matter? What is the organization doing to push for political agendas that campions a more diverse and inclusive Philippine society? Words are nice but actions are what we need.

Diverse because we have different languages and cultures from different regions. Inclusive because we have laws that protect the basic rights of Filipinos (such as free speech, freedom of religion, etc.).
