  • This guide explains what the percentages mean, how to use trucks effectively, how many trucks to use and how many distribution office to use.
    This is also a response at the overwhelming responses from the last DO tutorial, where a lot of you have pointed out a very important flaw, which is will rectify here. Thank you!
    My tutorials and how to guides are aimed at new players, who may have skipped the in game tutorial or found issue with the same. This game has many hidden features, and I aim to show you all of them.
    WR:SR is an amazing sandbox city/republic builder, that allows you to control all aspects of your new country, from citizens happiness, health, education to production chains, vehicle and resource production, import export. You can do all this by truck, train, ship, and in the near future plane. There are a million ways to make your republic your own and that’s what we will do.

    Happy to have pointed out the smaller trucks option ^^
    It seems the best is using decentralized storage with several warehouses per city connected by train to factories.

  • @dixienormous2704
    @dixienormous2704 Před 2 lety +9

    Every city gets a warehouse and meat storage facility connected to a road cargo station. Set filters to only allow Food, Alcohol, Clothing, and Electronics. I'll use one distribution office to fetch items from the factory storages and bring them to the city storage, and another distribution office to move the items to where they are needed in the city.
    It's also better to place the distribution office closer to the destination rather than closer to the storage as the trucks will only grab what is needed at the time the truck is loaded. It will cut down on the amount of trucks on the road.

  • @Dovah47
    @Dovah47 Před 2 lety +8

    I just learned that DOs adjust the percentege of cargo on the fly, I used them since they were implemented and never noticed it. I wish they would add advanced settings for cargo of each vehicle in offices, this way you could make big truch only load food, and small truck only load clothes and electronics.

  • @Hmuda
    @Hmuda Před 2 lety +9

    Great, as always. :)
    I was really curious, and wanted to see how a DO would handle trucks with different advanced cargo allocations. Sadly, we cannot change that in the DO.
    I sent all of them to the road depot, changed their advanced setups, sent them back to the DO, and while at first it looked like the restrictions stuck between transfers, once the DO sent them out for a delivery, they just loaded whatever they wanted, completely disregarding the restrictions. Basically the first one was only allowed to haul crops, but was sent to pick up food, so it ended up with 6.5t/0t in its cargo space.
    Shame, would have been a great workaround.

    Many thanks for that. I get very frustrated when running out of something here is my solution that works for me, it is a bit on the expensive side but you don't ever have to worry about supplies to a shop. I use a road depot get a truck to collect food, deliver to the shop (road cargo station) and wait to be emptied you have enough space in the road station so there are no traffic jams or hold ups. I do the same with the meat, clothing and electronics. I found that using a distribution office no matter what settings you use, if the distance is a bit long and you have traffic sooner rather than than later you will run out of food.

    I still believe D.O is better for imports or supplying industrial needs (cement and gravel for concrete, or bitum and gravel to asphalt), but citizens needs like food meat, clothes and electronics are better with a special delivery truck, cause the consumption is so different that they will never stop moving and thats fuel wasted, that is what i believe. Love watching these tutorials and test cause i learn a lot and makes me a better player. Also i would love if you can make a tutorial about the new feature in bus stations, i don't get how it works

    I know that really improves efficency of DO, but I can't imagine every truck in 50-80 had a radio to change order on the go. Neat idea as something that kicks in in 90's or so, when CB Radios basically became "u must" in every TIR.

    Dunno mate i do prefer to make a storage with food, cloth and meat near each city, and do it like with your prev video, office only to diliver from factories to storage, and line for each individual good for a store. Terminal for store is essential that way but if you set to wait until unload, you get extra space that the truck provide and you dont use that much fuel. Terminal provide 4 spaces to park, you need only 3 goods, so you still got atleast 2 parking spots with the store one for additional support.

    • @esunisen3862
      @esunisen3862 Před 2 lety +1

      The problem is you need to buy many trucks that will most the time do nothing but wait. But since there are no maintenance costs, it works.

    • @mrofka18
      @mrofka18 Před 2 lety +1

      @@esunisen3862 The time they wait they expand storage of store by thier cargo. And for bigger cities they dont move much so its lower chance for traffic jam

    One of additional programmer(s?) in this game is my classmate from 1993/1994 school year, a former friend of mine from 25 years ago. I wrote to the main dev himself and at first I thought that the name in credits was my classmates brother, (year 1982 I think, the actual add programmer is from 1985, both are programmers btw) I asked about stuff that is hard to start / comprehend and my English isnt that great when it comes to technicalities, I sometimes run the game for the music :P (text written in Slovak had atrocious grammar I thought Id help with) I told him that there is no info on how to start, what to do, the only thing resembling it I played was Transport Tycoon when I didnt even have a computer 21 years ago. So much unexplained. I tried to tell him that he should take a look from the perspective of a person who does not know how what works. And he told me that there are people who made it to work, implying it is all good. I was thinking of replying but it seems like he knows his stuff too well to be bothered because others made it to work, I assumed my help with grammar would be unappreciated, after all Im not his inferior. My feedback was that I did not know what was not working and how to fix things. That was back in June. I wish him/them to succeed in making this game awesome, the project has many things thought through. I thought of looking up the files how what works, but then I was short on patience looking at things that did not work or how to make buses work, my guys went on foot everywhere :D. There are options but no explanations. I tried to make 2 bus stops, to ferry folks away but somehow nobody ever went there. I absolutely also had no idea how cars were supposed to work, especially when folks teleport from work, they dont go back with their car right ? I could not make an internal construct as to what was functional state or how to get there. One thing is seeing something does not work, but when it does not and you dont know why, it feels like sort of self-harm :P I did see some of your tutorials, very in-depth, been banned on steam for countering woke paraphilia with arguments and truth for year, so I cant even put a review for the game. I have to say I dislike English being pushed everywhere, I like you use your own language at least a bit. We really need actual diversity, not unification in everything and giving centralization the diversity name. Because its like Miru Mir subversion and propaganda nonstop. NATO, EU needs disbanding to promote actual diversity.

    Great video as usual. No matter what I do, I can’t get my DO to work. The trucks sit there and don’t collect clothes and deliver to the store. Both are correctly allocated and the trucks are small. Goods are piling up in storage and the store has nothing. I guess I’ll try a test setup to explore what I am doing wrong.

  • @markkussusa
    @markkussusa Před rokem +1

    So what is it that i shoukd do in the end?
    Set limits on items in the destination locations to as close as possible to a full truckload?
    Such as 73% on food in the grocery store

    • @bballjo
      @bballjo  Před rokem +2

      Set the destination limit to be low enough so that a full truck load fits within the 100% of the storage...for the source, set the limit large enough that the current storage can fill a truck/train

    • @markkussusa

      I set it to run at 16% of storage load in DO settings (min won't be allowed below 10%).
      So that should be close to 2 truckloads, about 12 tons.
      But after a short rest when storage was initially filled, it's back at running 4-6% loads...

    • @bballjo

      So, you're looking at only a small bit of the equation...what is emptying the meat?

    • @markkussusa

      People eating it. Fast. One grocery store on the entire town.
      But I don't understamd this question.
      At first the meat was in the store. Them i put it into the meat storage connected to the store. Still empryikg at simliar rate, and truck still running at 6% of load... Some decimals of a tonn.
      Will do some more testing over the upcoming weekend.
      Otoh, thanx to your RR explanations, I'm finally able to build usimg two constructor train sets!
      I manually assign segments to be built and keep it without semaphores until rail is all done.

    The setup with the distribution office and the fields doesn´t work.
    - All fields and the distribution office have road access.
    - The distribution office has fuel
    - Fields are marked as "load" and destination buildings silos/farms as "unload"
    - Source Buildings 0% and destination buildings 100%
    - destination buildings are empty
    But, the covered-hull-lorries don´t start and hundreds of crops spoil by snow in november
    All other distribution office are doing what they suppose to do, except the ones for the fields
