    The "B" series Audi has always been my favorite. From the beast of B5(S4) all the way to the B8.5. The one I didn't care for much was the B7.
    Thank you for making this video for the people who need to know not only to inform themselves about a possible purchase, but as you mention, to help the current owners know/make better decisions about their repairs(Be it DIY, or specialty shops).

    Really great information, and an honest review, as a tech have you ever come across any information as to why Audi runs there thermostats at 88C and results in actual car operation of 96-100C under normal city driving 94C on that highway (although the temp gauge shows a steady 90C between 88-108C).
    After opening the top end of older Audis its clear that almost all rubber oring and gaskets have failed by hardening. Including the infamous timing chain tensioner failures which is really the plastic guides disintegrating. Are there any thermostat options like 75-80C? because these engines are literally cooking them selves.

    Hey guys... really great video, thanks so much. Super informative. Im not really familiar with Audi, but Im looking at an A4 Allroad. Is there a specific year that you would recommend for reliability? I don't need bells and whistles (tech packages etc). is the 2016 (last year of the B8.5) a solid dependable year where they worked out any bugs from previous years, that won't be in a mechanics shop all the time? Ive heard also there is issues with the CVT transmission. is it true the A4 is the only version where the engine doesn't need to be pulled out for the timing chain? Again, I don't care about getting into refreshed version in 2017 because I have a feeling that would have too much tech. Im really concerned with the drive train reliability. would you recommend getting a warranty (I received a quote from Audi for a 4yr, 50K km warranty for almost 6K CAD). Any help or advice you could offer would be huge. Thanks again.

    Interesting. In Finland the base trim is business trim. It has folding rear seats, LEDs/xenon's, front and rear parking sensors , Bluetooth, and heated seats standard. It does not have leather seats (cloth seats which are actually quite good), no sun roof, no automatic seat adjustments and no rear seat climate vents (that's silly). A bit different trim compared to that premium.

Everything else in the car works fine the car fax shows they replaced the engine gaskets for the oil consumption the car doesn’t burn oil so that’s a plus really the steering rack is the only main issue also my brakes squeak even tho they have 50% of life left in them I put 5k miles on them bought the car from an Audi dealership 1 year ago

      Glad you enjoyed the video! Some of the key things that did/didnt change from B8 to B8.5 are...Oil Consumption issues were addressed on B8.5 (they went with a tighter clearance on the cylinders, and upgraded to thicker rods my 2mm), but the waterpump and tstat still leak, and the control arms still get torn bushings. Most of the updates were based on the actual facelift/aesthetics of the car.

    You miss the ultra rare 1 of 200 audi a4 b8 30 years of quattro edition in 2011. It comes with a rs4 interior and some other goodies. I am lucky enough to own one. 6 speed manual 2.0t that looks like an rs4

      We went back and forth with what to trust on this one as originally we were using what looked like higher more realistic numbers, but decided to go with the official Audi documents from the dealership system itself.

    I noticed you didn’t mention transmission failure. Some forums have said that mechatronic failure on the B8 is common. I have 2009 1.8T A4 that suffered that and unfortunately we don’t have a local Audi dealership. What in your opinion is the best solution? Replacing the gearbox? Are gearboxes plug and play or requiring some coding?

    I was in the market last summer for a B8 S4, really couldn’t get a good deal. Ended up purchasing the 2014 A4 2.0T B8.5.
    Yes it’s less power than the S4 but jeez it looks like the B8 generation had several issues with their faulty engine design.

    Hi FCP, could you please help...
    I'd really like to know whether to buy for best upgrade potential the A4 (1) 3.0 T (2) 3.0 TDI or (3) S4

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi Zay, for the best upgrade potential we would recommend you buy the S4. The A4 uses a 2.0T engine which is mildly upgradable, but the S4 has a ton more potential. The diesel on the other hand is also mildly upgradable but has less potential than both the TDI and the A4 2.0T.

    Fast Forward to a few years ago when this video came out... Or even closer to well, today. I have to say/express my interest and LOVE for the way this allroad 1:21 looks.
    Would I be able to get info on wheels, suspension, and tire setup shown here? If not through this platform, then can I contact you by email/phone call to see if I can get said info? Please? I honestly Love the way it sits....
    Thanks and continue doing what you do best.. We all love your vids...

    So if I have 2013 Audi TT, the oil consumption related issue should be addressed? I mean, you said that 2013 model year A4 has some kind of improvements over up to 2011 made engines? Does a TT follow A4 with its 2.0T engine?
    Thanks.

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  Před 4 lety

      We checked and dont see any TSB's for your engine code whether its CCTA or CETA. So hopefully nothing to fear... However, if you feel like you are experiencing oil consumption. Check your basics such as looking for oil leaks or look into updating your vehicles breather

      A user here for a b8/b8.5 avant caga code motor tdi s tronic. Plugs each 30.000km/60.000km oil 10-15.000km/. Dmf flywheel 130.000km / belt kit 120.000 +-. Fabricant recomended Castrol Long Life but I highly recomend Ravenol/RedLine/Extreme/Meguin or Amsoil Signature Series. Put some adtivie to the oil for example liqui moly molygen motor protect 250 ml or Mannol 9929. To the tank of diesel or gasoline i recomend too. Clean EGR and the Dpf if it has each 100.000 km. And if u want to know more im here. The car is incredibly good. Confortable and secure👌👍
