that cinematic of the oil tanker setting off for the first time in 170 years always gets me hyped, it's probably my favourite video game cinematic
An old relic revolving its rusted gears once more, also, automated navigation :)
Riding to the sunset lol
Its extremely well done, the camera angles, the lighting, sounds. It all comes together into an amazing cinematic.
imagine if this gmae got COMPETENTLY remade with everythign intact, that seen in 1080p or 4K would be even more glorius
I don’t know why but I like the cinematics from all the video games of the 90s sometimes better than ones of the current generation no matter how bad they look in comparison to today. Whether it was something from PS1, 3DO, or even the command and conquer series on PC 😀
Omg it only took 35 episodes for you to learn the take all button
He's just demonstrating his high actions per minute lol
@@MultiWolfstorm No I saw him use it in an earlier video :)
All take bytron?
22:40 “Jody’s home now, smokin’ grass. Jody’s pumpin’ your wife’s...”
Amazing. Not even in a video game can we escape Jody.
Jody. Jody never changes.
A military cadence harping on the ubiquitous side guy "Jody" that provides sexual partnership with deployed military guys.
Me : wants to learn fallout lore.
Oxhorn: so in this container is...
*A LASER PISTOL, SOME MUTFRUIT, 2 GRENADES-*
@@rogerphone481 *AND A STIMPACK*
Nash: wants to learn lore, talks ish about those who actually enjoy playing these awesome games.
It’s so engaging tho, I know where every piece of garbage is and I’m totally immersed.
23:55 Jody is a real life US military persona (like Pvt. Snuffy). He’s the lowlife guy back home sleeping in your bed with your wife while you’re deployed.
Earlier iterations Jody was an (expletive deleted) draft dodger back in your home town with your wife/girlfriend.
@@BlaineBinkerd See, I knew the newer iteration of Jodie, as the guy plowing your wife's bean field. Had no idea it was specifically a draft dodger back in the day, lmao
Jodies don't even deserve to be called dicks that's a complement to what they really are
If you’ve ever deployed or been in the military. You for sure know who “Jody” is or better yet who Jody represents. The solider in the T-51 power armor singing about Jody in fallout made me actually laugh out loud.
Glad to see Military cadences are still going strong in the post-apocalyptic Fallout universe.
I'm active duty and I laughed so hard I scared my wife. It has some sting to it if you've been Jody boy'd
Jody is that dude who'll frick your SO, regardless of gender.
I didn't appreciate the Jody reference until I joined the Army. When I played through again, and this came up, I lost my shit! I had completely forgotten about this reference ;'D
ind0ctr1n3 you are right
That Jody reference really brought former/current members of the armed forces out to the comments section. Funny that it's Veterans Day tomorrow.
Your profile picture makes the comment even better
"I insist upon being freed"
"Uh, ok"
Enclave: "Lmfao"
"What's that, you want to go first? Alright, we'll... 'free' you."
The Jodi reference is for those whom do basic training/deploy.
Jodi is the guy with your girl, so Jodi is always doing your girl in the military while your gone.
👍
He's also the guy with your girl when you're away in prison. Son of a bitch is everywhere, no escaping his ass.
Yea getting someone loyal is very hard isn’t it?
@@karandullet380 unfortunately.
@@ducksauce1290 the prison thing makes sense they might not wanna be with a criminal but the military thing is fucked up
Imagine seeing this in the fallout world, the ship moving for the first time in over 100 years.
That would be amazing to see lol, it sucks we have to blow up the oil rig , imagine all that oil gone out of the picture , that oil could of been super great for the development of San Francisco and NCR all that energy to help power there land and the oil rig had a big nuclear reactor that could of been great too , and the rig itself could of been a settlement the chosen one could of built and use sell oil to the mainland and in return food, medicine etc to maintain them and just use the tanker to bring oil back and forth lol
The Ballad of Rodger Young is a double reference--In Robert Heinlein's Starship Troopers (please ignore the movies) the main dropship the protagonist used was the Rodger Young, and the rally point for the unit was marked by a beacon playing...the Ballad of Rodger Young. Seeing as that was one of the big examples of power armor in sci fi it's a natural fit.
That helps explain the connection!
And,at the last part of the book,at the star port.
Starship Troopers is THE example of Power Armor. Every franchise that has used power armor since owes it.
Akso, I'm really miffed some see it was fascist despite their social structure more closely resembling Sparta.
@@Xo-3130 The Movies where a parody of fascist society, while the Book wasnt... not intentionally that is.
The movies are great. Perfect piss-take of Heinlein's absurd fascist manifesto.
That boat scene has convinced me that old fallout is the best fallout
42:20 imagine just having a meeting just chillin and a solider comes in stares at you and goes through the lockers and nopes out
The Jody Reference is a military thing its the man thats with your girl while you are away deployed, and that reference to be exact was a Cadence a "song" sang usually during marching/formation running etc
After that awesome cinematic part of the oil tanker...
We get to the Endgame!
Hey Oxhorn, If your repair skill is high enough, you can cut the exposed wire in room #9 and disable the electric floor, which makes looting the area super easy. I also read hacking one of the terminals in the area gives some loot based on your highest skill, but could never find which terminal personally.
Cool. The way the rig acquires electricity through a nuclear reactor seems accurate, excepting the part where they dispose of irradiated water. These systems tend to be cyclical, by cooling the waste steam back into water, pumping it, heating this water back into steam, pass it through the turbine and repeat the cycle.
I'm betting that dumping waste cooling water is an efficiency issue. It's the Enclave, they don't care.
@@codyblea3638 yes, but if so, it's ineffective for other reasons. For starters, salt water is highly corrosive for metal components, so assuming that the pipeline is made out of steel, the other big issue is that salt water creates calcification on the pumps. In a closed cycle, this can be controlled by filters, but as you say, Enclave doesn't care.
@@metalchono very good points.
It sucks we had to blow up the oil rig , it could of been super great really really great for the mainland, 1. It had a big nuclear reactor that could of been used to power a big settlement or put one on the rig, 2nd it had OIL that's very useful in a post apocalyptic wasteland trying to rebuild society and use that oil to power San Francisco and NCR etc to be able to grow and expand and just use the tanker to bring back tons of oil from rig 🤦🤦🤦😑😑 there's lots of moments in fallout that just want to beat the crap out of someone for wasting super valuable resources and technology that has vital capabilities lol 😶
“Oh dear. Sounds like we’re dealing with an idiot here.”
Lol the fact you gotta just kidnap an entire tanker of people and possibly killed some of them on top of some of the shi that got squished under the crap falling off of the tanker and it's all just kinda glossed over lol
Jody is kinda like a marine corps urban legend. Jody is always the guy at home taking your girlfriend/wife out while your deployed lol
It’s not just the marines. Jody is a curse upon all soldiers.
Nicholas Eickman in the America’s.
They're below being called dicks jodies just suck
That would explain why the Enklave had such interest in Project Purity.
"If we can't poison the air, lets poison the water~"
@Stavros S. I remember that; it is a shame we as the player, couldn't side with the Enclave and get onboard with Autumn to HELP the wasteland, instead of trying to pull a Richardson.
@Stavros S. Yeah I'd have sided with Autumn and helped the wastelanders, maaaybe even rebuild, if its still possible, so at least ONE location could return to a better time.
@@VaciliNikoMavich yeah but what you dont realise is that the modified FEV virus that Autumn had would have KILLED all of the wastelanders. It kills any with genetic mutations, bot just super mutants and after a couple hundred years of living in irradiated land all wastelanders DNA would be mutated in some way shape or form. So basically only Vault dwellers or somehow genetically pure individuals would live, almost certainly dooming the human race.
@@Sirgmon420 but Autumn didn't want to use the FEV. He wanted to control the purified water to establish order.
At around 23:54 I love how Oxhorn was thinking about what the whole Jody thing was, the character was standing still and as soon as Oxhorn stopped thinking about it, the character continued moving. Nice role playing! =)
I love this Fallout 2 audiobook. :D should listen to that in the car and adapt this style for the kids' bedtime stories.
Around 30 minutes while examining the metal table covered in biomass in the audiobook for children "And then we find the metal table covered in bioma- I mean cotton candy! Cotton of course in the candy lab.
I love the activation cinematic for the ship. - The spirit of the old world is not dead only slumbering and it continues to stir and awaken bit by bit such as it does now with the resurgence of civilization and relics such as this ship more and more frequently as time goes by until it's inevitable full reawakening. Is this poem or whatever it is I came up with any good?
Perfectly articulated and worded
@@cabbodge Thanks for the feedback.
Ulysses would be proud.
the line from the song about Rodger Young is a reference to the book starship troopers
I’ve pretty much binge watch this entire series in 3 days since I haven’t played this game in soooo long, I’m going to finish the epic conclusion tomorrow. Love this series.
When he said "go" and that noise started building up, did anyone else get a "Ludicrous Speed" feeling?
I’m suddenly even more glad I blew up Raven Rock. The Enclave are evil incarnate.
you monster heathen
This series is great. Been watching it since it started, appreciate you and what you do Oxhorn.
We’re in the Endgame now boys
Riflemutt Prime and girls don’t forgot or the feminist start screeching
No going back
@@alfeas6728 damn, that was 2020? i sure do hope you grew for the better
That puzzle room near the end reminds me of that scene in Galaxy Quest with those pointless crushers in that hallway, lol.
It is actually really cool that our player character from Fallout 1 is related to our player character in Fallout 2. And since the player character's mother in Fallout 3 came from outside the vault (I think?) and our player character in 4 was from before the war, it is possible (though a stretch) that all the lone wanderers might be related.
41:10 I forgot about this part of the oil rig! As soon as I saw all those doors it brought back flashbacks of my lengthy attempts at it lol
His voice is so satisfying i fall asleep when watching his video
"oh dear, sounds like we're dealing with an idiot here!" - me working in automotive customer service.
For future reference, Jody is the person nailing your significant other while you're in the military, but typically when you're on deployment or assignment out of the states.
This has been a long time coming...Oxhorn is finishing the last numerical Fallout Game. Wow. onto TACTICS!
Was I the only one who said “all engines ahead full. Left standard rudder”
Bro this was uploaded on my 14 birthday thank you ox for introducing me to the classics
Happy Birthday bud! Hope your 14th is your best yet!
Happy Birthday!
Is it sad that i look forward to these fallout 2 vids with oxhorn more than any other movie or tv show.
I typically get a lot more entertainment value out of RPGs on PC than those other mediums
No
A tanker needs fuel
Oh the irony
I'm learning more about American literature and music from a video game from 20 years ago than I did in my school years
Who else agrees that the scene at 2:07 looks like the scene from Titanic movie when the ship is about to hit the iceberg?
Thank you Oxhorn for finally making my Enclave shirt! God bless America. God bless the Enclave.
*another comment explaining who Jody is*
24:32 I love when video games have references to music I listen to, its a random day maker.
So FEV sounds like some kind of bio-augmentation. If you've ever played Halo, you'll know that the Spartan I-IV's had bio augmentations made to them.
that cutscene with the oil tanker was absolutely beautiful
23:46 “Jody” is a term in the army, basically its the stereotype they give to the guy that your wife is cheating with while your serving. Kind of like the “Karen” stereotype.
I love the visual of a random dude in a super secret military base rummaging through lockers and in front of dozens of people and no one caring at all.
Another Awesome Start To The Day, Thank You Ox!
I've forgotten how much I miss the amazing cinematography of '90s games!😃
the Cinematic of the Oil Tanker NEVER get's old, ever. everytime i see it, i get goosebumps all over my body in anticipation!
That animation is so good for an old game
A 40+ minute Oxhorn vid just made my Sunday.
2:06 For some reason, this scene reminds me of a similar scene in the firm Titanic(1997)
Tom Murray is a reference to an old actor btw. Died in 33, but did 13 movies during his career.
Love how pretty much everything in the game refers to something.
"is that a song, or a poem?" I know people explained the "Jody" reference and its play in US Military pop culture. But it's likely that the line itself is a Cadence, just to give another bit of trivia. You are probably familiar with these from movies that like to show boot camp and such. When people are marching in formation and calling out various lines that are meant to keep up a tempo. That's a Cadence.
Long history of them in militaries, including the US. Stretching back centuries in that case. Probably the easiest example to list pop culture wise is Full Metal Jacket. The famous: "This is my rifle, this is my gun, this is for fighting, this is for fun."
So a song in a sense, but one that is meant for a Call and Response sort of way. It's meant to keep time and order in a work crew or marching unit, and build up a bit of camaraderie. As well as just the general physical responses that performing the cadence has on the unit, in helping control their breathing and hearts.
@18:35 This list from a brain damadged president reads way too real now and has me linking way too many things. Proud of being able to recite a simple list from memory.
Jody is a fictional person infamous amongst US armed forces personnel...
That and Carl. Or that's what it seems like to me.
Man, I forgot how hamfisted the justification for those turrets being in the entrance/exit was. Woof.
I am looking forward to the next installment of this as i never looked up what happens at the oil rig, dont make us wait to long oX
I had a stroke watching oxhorn throw away the best weapon in the game like it was nothing.
Started watching your vids the other day love the narration dude builds a lotta suspense.
At the end.
Ox- I hate to do this, I really do.
Me- No! You tease!
The descent Clans of Vault 13 have been reunited. Shame the third and youngest clan was lost... :(
Watch out for the Jarheads trying to say Jodi is solely their term! Seen a few in the comments below ;)
Jody is a US Army thing. When you leave on deployment, Jody is the guy taking care of your wife... Lots of cadence songs about him. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Now that you have two suits of advenced power armore you can give the other to one of your companiens and go with him around the rig, I hope it'll work.
In the puzzle room where you meet the enclave troopers, would be a parallel to Star Wars - A New Hope, in one of the cut of scenes where Han Solo follow a bunch of stormtroopers, just to meet many more.
"Holodeck, this isn't Star Trek!"
Me, remembering one of my first encounters on the map in the game: "You sure about that pal?"
Odd that an oil rig would have a nuclear reactor instead of just using the oil and gas it’s sitting on.
you missed the wall safe at (32:00)
Its the final countdown!
It makes me smile ehen the faction I like gets screen time =)
Love it when you read the lore/entries too!
I'm curious if the V13 prisoner would've reacted to protag wearing the V13 suit.
Honestly fallouts 1 and 2 are really good fallout games multiple quests all locations tie into quests besides random encounter locations and the cinematics my lord the cinematics the talking heads everything is so well done
WAIT every vault has 2 gecks??? this means people could collect all the gecks colect them and create a extremly huge plot of land into a paradis!!! i hope so much this will happen in a future fallout BUT im shure the enclave is colecting all gecks und will use them in a secret location to build them self a sick new country i hope fallout 3 pulled the plug to the enclave completly in order to make it possible to collect as many gercks as possyible in a future game to create a hughe green paradise / city
Nooooo! All out of time half way through the oil rig!
29:00 Rodger Youngh, I only know that name from the movie Starship Troopers, i think a whole capital ship is named after Rodger Youngh in there.
i like how there is a mode that shows the aftermath so many ghouls .
22:40 Nice! Time to plant some Trees....OH WAIT
I hope we're getting the rest of it tomorrow
God Bless America, God Bless The Enclave
43:00 JACKPOT

We REALLY Need a Fallout 1+2 remake 😳

Oxhorn awesome vid 👍
Holy cow that VP Bird sounds very familiar and really recent.
Am I the only one wondering just how big Control Station Enclave must be to have housed the Enclave since before the Great War?
Nothing better happen to that doll, because I am now emotionally invested in the two seconds of seeing it... Oh no! It fell over. You hate to see it happen in all 90's movies.
(It just one my favorite clichés from films at that time. Some calamity happens as random crowd people run to escape. Some kid in their parent's arms looses their toy in the mist of the chaos. As kid it broke my heart, however now as I am older it's funny when ever I see it.)
Oxhorn, Joe D. or Jody is a marine term for the person one's significant other is having an affair with.
Nope, it's a military term, not just Marine. You guys aren't THAT special. You're special as in a crayon short of a full MRE, but ya'll aren't the sole reference to the term.
@@shawnwolf5961 I've only heard Marines use it. But, thanks for the correction.
@@MB84774 LOL, no hate intended, just bustin your balls a bit :p It is basically mandatory for Army, vet or otherwise, to give the Marine's shit! But yeah, I learned all about Jodi in Basic Training and even after. Now, marine's may have coined the term, I honestly don't know; but it's spread to all the branches afaik, I even heard Air Force mention Jodi once!
cutscene gave me chills
That cinematic cut scene tho
No other Fallout protagonist has achieved as much as The Chosen One.
About the Jody poem, in military lingo/ culture, Jody is who is with your wife/ girlfriend while your in the military, so they say stuff like that during basic and while on tour.
I think this style of fallout would make a great mobile game! Fallout shelter worked really well on mobile, I think this style would as well. I would play it
Great video ox! Waiting for the Frank Horiggan boss fight.
Jody is the guy who stays back and steals your girl when you join the service
Congrats you're like the 8th person to say this in the last 10 minutes
@@JonnyBoi12 3 days ago? Are you in a time portal?
Jody is the unemployed loser who you left behind when you joined, who moves in on your woman the second you are away, so it’s a bit of gallows humor. There are many “Jody calls” that are called at marching cadence to break up the periods in between longer songs to give a platoon leader time to think up the next thing to sing, it’s sometimes more interesting than stuff like 1...2...3...4...left on your left on your left right left.
you can cut a cable using pliers in the 3X3 room to disable the floor electric, IIRC its room#3
