    Didn’t hear you mention it but this bike will fit other shocks than the stock version. Fox X2 and X, any Öhlins, and RS super deluxe options. Probably many others too. But they do have a new type of eyelet with bearings that might not be too common atm

    I like the design on this bike and feel that more bike companies should follow suit with hidden shocks it makes the bike look really nice in my opinion my only complaint about this bike is the price tag 10k is a lot of money for the average rider like myself and so many others I’m going to have to become a big time CZcamsr so I can get my hands on cool bikes like this one

  • @casestudymtb
    @casestudymtb Před 7 měsíci +6

    I think it's bad value for money at any build level. While it looks amazing, I'm not in a position to invest that much in aesthetics. I do appreciate the benefit of an enclosed shock as well, but again, the cost. I'll be interested to see if the alloy version keeps the integration like they did with the spark, or if they'll simplify to be more cost competative.

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  Před 7 měsíci +2

      The frame is very high quality and well engineered, which is undoubtedly the cause for the price tag. It’s more than just aesthetics, but we get what you’re saying for sure.

    • @janeblogs324

      @TheLoamWolf  Před 7 měsíci +2

      Hey what's up Eddie. Both bikes are absolutely awesome in their own right....While Robert would likely pick the Orbea, Drew and some of the others may find the Scott tugging at our sleeve. It's a greave value, has more travel and a different ride than the Orbea.
      If you value a more plus, supple, lively and active suspension feel and a frame that has a bit more compliance and forgiveness, the Scott could be worth considering! The Orbea is amazing, as you know. But it's certainly a pointed machine and could be considered more of a "race" bike that rewards you most when ridden very hard.

      @@TheLoamWolf First off! Thank you for the reply, you guys are the best. I had technically had already bought the scott, took it home and my garage got burglarized that night and stole my new ransom, i didn't even get to install pedals on it. (worst of all my insurance didn't cover it because it has a motor, hard lesson to learn) so I now have a 2nd chance to choose what bike to buy. I come owning a yeti sb165 so i know what a purpose built bike is like. I ride 60% dh parks and 40% local trail and fun rides. Let me add that if i go with either or of the bikes, i will be upgrading the suspension to fox factory front and rear, with that being said. I'm 5"8 so i ride a med, my dream would be the scott with a mullet setup, and coil shock with the awesome 180mm travel it offers, but I've heard you can't run a coil shock. Could you touch on that? I really like the orbea but I liked how much you guys liked the scott. Thanks for all the wisdom.

    $10K are in many ways crazy money imo. You have to be a pretty big enthusiast of mtb to justify a bike at that price range.
    I'm in no way being negative here, I'm currently spec'ing an E-mtb that will end me in this range and I still feel somewhat disgusted by cost of it.
    Shitty thing is $10K ain't even that expensive for a bike these days. E.g. nearly $1K for an AXS Dropper post.. $2000+ for a X0 T-Type AXS Transmission groupset. Shameful.

    I’m sure he will like it, European bike, I’m not a big fan of Scott bikes…to complex and gadgets, similar to the Canyon shape shifter garbage! A bike should be simple less crap to break..just ride and clean once a week haha. Also why are we saying 34lbs is keeping it lightweight??

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I (Robert) have no care where a bike is from, only how it performs. Sorry you think that Shapeshifter is garbage, but I wholeheartedly disagree. The Tracloc on the Scott is, like I say in the video, questionable in its need.
      34lbs for its spec and how sturdy it feels is pretty respectable, IMO.

    • @50whatnomadtravelnursemtb5
      @50whatnomadtravelnursemtb5 Před 7 měsíci

      thats the problem, we are accepting 34lb bikes as normal now, yeah its longer travel but even the Scott "trail" bike is like 32lbs. More things to break/fix on the trail equals more hassel. Scott has always been gimecky,/niche followers. Do people really need on the fly geo adustments, or damping control. Albeit with this design you can't even reach the climb/trail/descend lever on the shox so you have to have the lever@@TheLoamWolf

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  Před 7 měsíci +2

      We won't argue that 32lbs for a "trail" bike is a bit on the portly side! And yes, ease of access is nice when things do go wrong, however if (and that is still to be seen) things do not go wrong, then it's not really an issue. Sort of like how old cars used to have very easy engines to work up until the 80s and maybe even 90s, but they required a lot more upkeep. Now they're nearly impossible for a home mechanic to work on, BUT, we'd argue they may be more reliable? Maybe... haha.
      That said, we never like to assume how valuable or what people "really" need as we have ridden enough places with enough people that trends and desires for things have surprised us with what is a must have to some while we consider to be an instant take off! It's very narrow-minded for us as reviewers to only think people ride the way we want and think a bike should be spec'd or perform. For those reasons, and more, we try to stay objective and instead focus on who may enjoy a certain product, or who it's not ideally suited for.
      Sounds like this bike is certainly not for you, however we are equally positive there are people right now waiting for this thing to show up because it checks off all the boxes for them... We're lucky that in this world we have so many options for all our tastes.
