It would honestly be fine to have a battery pack with external CPU, to bring down the weight of the device and increase its power.
Since all designs have trade-offs... May as well err in the direction of maximizing user experience.

Running those AI models sounds quite expensive.
I could see it maybe working for US users but can Meta's profits cover processing for the whole world?

@@nask0 Let's say that they make $50/year of profit on average per user (which is definitely not as high as they really make as an average per user)..
How much in GPU time do you think that buys over a year?
If you don't know the answer, it's almost nothing.
Of course, they can work hard to drive down costs, and they can hope that they can make an impractical choice today to get more customers to really like services - and then have it work out when tech become cheaper in the future...
But when you have "billions" of customers to serve, having billions in profits is no longer worth anywhere near as much.

Few times you've mentioned - no PC needed, I think that's where you wrong. We really aren't trying to kill the PC here. It's an achievement - sure, just being able to use cloud streaming service with a subscription fee and it's also added cost to total PC cost and they won't abandon a wish to also own a monitor.
