Thanks for Watching👍. Please comment letting me know what you think of "Bones" strength
Since we're on the topic of MMA. Can we get a Mariuz Pudzanowski then/now comparison?
I know he's had to dropped body weight. But just wondering if he's still pushing iron? Like he was 20 years ago...I do believe he has a fight coming up 🤔
I’ve always wondered how strong Jon Jones is. People say strength doesn’t matter in a fight, but I was certain he’d have to be strong to be so dominant
Strength definitely plays a role in wrestling
Strength and speed with limited ability but a quick thinker will win a lot of fights, even against someone in the gym all year long. In coordinated sport fighting, speed and ability are the primary sources used for victory, but bruit strength available in the blink of any eye still wins a lot of sport fights.
Strength plays a role in everything.
Look at alexander karelin. 42 pullups
Of course strength is important, but if you start sacrificing martial arts training for strength training you quickly come to a point of diminishing returns
Much stronger than I expected.
That zercher squat is probably pretty useful for MMA clinching and grappling. One of the first times I’ve seen an application for zerchers beyond ‘unorthodox lift = funny’.
His pull-ups were utilising kipping. Not a good indicator of his pull-up strength when so much momentum becomes involved.
Jon is very strong despite how his body looks. It’s typically the first thing his opponents mention. I think Chael Sonnen said it was like wrestling with a lion.
This shows how important specificity is. The exercise most closely tracking to fight performance is at an elite level.
Interesting to watch Jon outside of UFC. :)
Great video buddy. I will share this to my mma fan friends.
Thanks mate, that would be great!
Haha, I was a HS and college wrestler and of course you have to be strong, but not the stringest, to be at a championship level, but the stamina wrestlers/fighters have far outweighs those other two factors....those athletes have to be switched on foe a long time, wrestling 6min matches, UFC 15-20min. And of course skill and athleticism are the most important factors...Jones is the greatest UFC fighter ever, and is the total package.
I love that the Zercher Squat is a thing
that is impressive , those pictograms are making the magic..
I'm pleased you liked the pictograms, took a a fair bit of time to create
Can u do more strength vids abt fighters 👍
For an ectomorph, he's obviously very strong. Not quite elite, but far above average.
I'd like you to do videos of Evander Holyfield and George Foreman.
Foreman was never a gym guy, but clearly he was very powerful. It would be interesting to see what you could dig up.
I saw a picture of him carrying a young cattle fully upright. It takes some serious strength to do that. Allegedly Sonny Liston was stronger
I saw some footage of George lifting weights while prepping for his Holyfield fight I believe. He was older obviously but he seemed to have taken up some modern strength training later in his career.
theres no such thing as an ectomorph, mesomorph etc., wake up
@@jake8915 I'll let that be your little secret.
You should do one of these about Kyle Dake.
Could you do one about ice hockey players? Some of them have to be able to squat 5 wheels easy...
He has been focusing alot on powerlifting and it has clearly paid off.
Jones doesn't have good leverages for powerlifting but I'm sure he has insane core and stationary/holding strength for grappling. Fabrício Werdum was a great MMA fighter but I remember reading about his workout regimen and thinking he had surprisingly low gym numbers for heavyweight (sorry I can't remember the specifics but it sounded like the average joe could "work in" with him) although to be fair the article mentioned he was new to strength training.
That's very solid given he's leverages. If he's natty is kinda sick tbh. This strength standards are full on half repping liars and massive ped users. This is very very sick given he's a fighter not a lifter wcusada on he's case
I agree
From a purely lifting standpoint, I'm pretty close to Jon Jones's strength. I'm 6'0, 280lbs. I've hit a 355lb bench, 635lb deadlift (w/straps) and a 545lb squat. I've been training weights seriously for a little over 3 years now.
a lot stronger than I thought impressive
Didn't know you did fighters. Can you do a how strong was george foreman?
25 pull ups was the most impressive
Great video! John Bones Jones is a freak of Nature!
Cheers Paul, he sure is!
Jon Bones Jones will face Stipe Miocic for the UFC World Heavyweight Championship in UFC 295 at Madison Square Garden in New York City celebrating the 30th anniversary of the UFC
Looking forward to it!
IN THE NEXT VIDEO PAUL ANDERSON VS ED COAN💪👌
Pls do it fit ngannou im so curious his grip is something else vs overeem he manhandled him like child on the cage even if overeem his very big and specialist of clinch
How strong is Sycho Sid ???
That was a rackpull not a deadlift
He looks weak bc he's lanky, but he's not weak. 😂
He is not lanky anymore lol
He never looked weak just less muscular, muscle isn't the same as strength
Larry wheels or ivan makarov?
Impressive weight, but I thought that was a rack pull, not a deadlift?
The actual lift isn't on video
Please make a video on how strong is Francis ngannou soon he hold's the world record for the hardest punch ever recorded by a human at 129,161 units
Sorry Chris, I looked while making this but couldn't find anything other then Francis lifting Shaq
@@StrengthUniverseok
@@StrengthUniverseWhat about Alexander Karelin? I heard he did 42 pullups with a bodyweight of around 130 kg. Im not sure if there is any proof.
Edit: I see you have already made a video about him
That world record doesn't mean much because it's only one machine so it's a unofficial world record and not many have tried
@@crabb9966 it is still considered a world record and yes no body has tried it but ngannou has tried it and managed to record such score which even the former world's strongest man Eddie Hall couldn't beat and until someone beats ngannou's world record he'll be the world record holder so we can further debate about it once someone breaks his world record
How is bench 315x5 only intermediate wtf
I agree, not many average gym bro's pressing 315
Nobody ever talks about Jones being a Junior College National wrestling champion. He can be an elite grappler when he wants to grapple.
He has always been known as an elite wrestler/grappler he dominated everybody with his wrestling/striking/Ju Jitsu
@@HamzethegoatYeah I was gonna say.... It's mentioned every fight. His grappling skills are widely recognized.
He ragged doll Chael Sonnen. Everyone knows Jones can wrestle.
that mf strong lol
that wasnt 143kg bench lol.. it looks like 110.
Please read the information on screen where it states: (Seen here in 2015 with 275lbs)
I counted 0 pull-ups.
After a certain amount of muscle mass on your particular frame and extra muscle doesn't help at all.
Fighting ability is an acquired skill.
Most people who can bench 500 lbs can't punch that hard as they are too stiff to rotate the hips, torso and shoulders/pecs.
They also usually lack coordination too,as well as have terrible stamina.
.
Thats why the sole focus on strength exclusively is rather stupid and is guaranteed to end badly, being overweight, unfit, injured and as bad as a sedate individual.
We see it all the time in over 40's/50's powerlifters, strong but absolute potatoes athletically.
Lot of no reps there
mmmmh id say we can't really count the pull ups but over all he is pretty strong
Would love to see his lifts when he’s on coke lol
Pizdes😂
Bahaha. He does roids and that’s all he can do
The deadlift is really impressive for a man like him,i've always wondered how strong Gorutta Jones is
He looks like he has good deadlift leverages but bad for bench press
@@brettbordelon Pulling 640 from mid shin is impressive considering the majority of his training is sport specific drills and endurance work. If he just focused on powerlifting alone he could pull 700 off the ground pretty quickly.
