    After really diving into the passport since it launched. I really love it and in my opinion think it's the best SUV Honda has made in a while and it is a step in the right direction towards a more heavy duty SUV. I really like the styling for me...it fits what I would want from Honda. Love Honda!

    The features you mentioned are missing are available in the more expensive models. I have priced them and I haven't found the highest model to be that close to $50K. I have taken the Passport Touring because it has all the features I want, including heated rear seats, navigation system on an 8" screen, USB ports and climate controls for the rear seats.

    • @DriversOnly

      Glad to hear! However, Passport Elite starts at $44k and adding some of the optional features puts it close to $50 k range.

    I like it and think it fits a spot for those wanting a two row Honda SUV with a V6. I prefer Ridgeline and it’s six speed transmission and normal shift lever, it for those wanting a two row sporty V6 this is a great option.

    • @DriversOnly
      @DriversOnly  Před 5 lety +1

      I agree, love my ridgeline and think the 6 speed is perfect with the engine. However, those who want a shorter SUV (compared to pilot and ridgeline) this is the next best thing.

    My Passport (EX-L) has 2 USB ports for the 2nd row passengers. I'm not sure why your model did not. Sport model? Also, the chair-back pockets include a mini-pocket that would fit a cell phone, not too deep, so you could charge your phone and put it there to hold while doing so.

      @DriversOnly  Před 4 lety +1

    It may be appealing to those who are looking for a bigger than CR-V and smaller than Pilot (Honda version of Murrano). But at its price range, I would consider RDX or Q5. If I want a bit bigger SUV, I will buy Pilot and fold the 3rd row.
    Except a bit of off-road capabilities, Passport is no special. I would definitely consider it, if it was priced attractively, let’s say mid or high thirties.

    • @DriversOnly
      @DriversOnly  Před 5 lety +1

      Passport is kind of in its own class because of the sheer size. It is substantially bigger than the RDX or Q5 or compared to something like a Murano or Grand Cherokee.

    • @vnp4110
      @vnp4110 Před 5 lety

      Drivers Only ...agreed. But it’s price is annoyingly high. Priced almost close to MDX.

    • @vnp4110
      @vnp4110 Před 5 lety +1

      I will give you my own example. I am currently in the market for a mid size SUV. Something bigger than a Compact. I was excited when I heard about Passport. but the first thing that I noticed was that the price was a bit higher than my budget. No issues I can stretch, but at that price point lot of other options will start coming in to the picture... like RDX and Q5. I know they are not the same size but not too small either. Since then I don’t see any compelling reason that can justify choosing Passport over the others.

    • @TheSmithweb
      @TheSmithweb Před 5 lety

      @@vnp4110 They start in the low 30's, so it really comes down to what options/creature comforts you really need or prefer. It has everything I could ever really use as far as options go @42k.

    The Passport rides harder than the Pilot or Ridgeline. Maybe it is caused by the 20" and lower profile tires. That is the only issues I didn't like when I test drove the Passport.
    I ended up buying a 2019 Ridgeline RTL-E. The Ridgeline has an amazingly good ride.

    • @DriversOnly
      @DriversOnly  Před 5 lety +2

      I have a ridgeline too and I do like the ride. The 20" wheels probably had something to do with the ride but I didn't notice it during my review. It was comparable to the pilot which also had 20" wheels.

    I really don't like the interior of the passport/pilot/ridgeline. At least the Ridgeline has a regular shifter and that 6 speed is a better box than the 9. The infotainment is lame and I don't like the digital dash with the tach set up like that. They use a huge dial on the left for engine temp instead of tach or analog speedo. Swing and a miss.

    • @DriversOnly
      @DriversOnly  Před 5 lety +1

      In all of my honda videos, I always grip about the new button shifter. There is zero need for it yet Honda insist because it looks "cooler." Yes I'm in agreement, my ridgeline just has a regular shifter. No need to learn something new.

    • @squidusn71
      @squidusn71 Před 5 lety +1

      I have the Ridgeline rtle and Pilot Touring with the 9speed. There's nothing new to learn pushing buttons for crying outloud. The 9speed gets 20+ mpg around town and my 6spd only gets 18+. The traditional 6sp stick shift gets in the way when you want to place your cellphone among other things on the space in front of the shifter which I do each time I drive. It's like the perfect area for the cellphone instead of on the cup holders which I use when driving the Ridgeline. If you never had both, you wouldn't really know the different effects that you encounter between the two. I prefer the 9spd transmission as well and wished it was offered on the Ridgeline.

      @@DriversOnly I have driven my new Passport 6k miles in 3 months, and I STILL need to look down to be sure I am pushing the right button lol. It definitely takes some learning. A couple things I DO like about it though, is no shifter in the way anymore, and if you press the STOP button before putting it in PARK, it will automatically shift to PARK. Can't do that with the traditional shifter. I do miss having the shifter as a hand rest though.
