It's simple, but I find so much joy in lighting the candles each night of Hannukah with my husband. It's what I look forward to the most.

One of my favorite traditions is getting a picture of my girls in front of the Christmas tree. Since my second daughter's first Christmas, I have had them sit in front of the tree, in the same positions each year for a picture to see how they grow. 🎄

Our favorite Christmas tradition started when my son was a toddler. My best friend comes to our house, and two of them decorate our Christmas tree. I am "helping" them by preparing a tree and Christmas ornaments, and I am in charge of taking lots of pictures and videos. After all that "hard work" we drink some hot chocolate, eat cookies and watch a movie. Our family lives in Europe, and it was important for me to start a tradition that my son will remember as we cannot travel to Europe for Christmas.

    • @littlemonkeysandme3171

Our favourite Christmas tradition is baking. Growing up my mom would let us pick out whatever we wanted to bake out of her cookbooks then go shop for all the ingredients. We would all gather together in the kitchen and bake together. There was always a lot of yummy different Christmas goodies! Congratulations on 3000! Love love your podcast! Thanks for all you do!

Ever since my kids were little, when we decorate our tree I unwrap all the ornaments and tell the story of each one…where it came from, etc. And we always watch The Preachers Wife while we decorate the tree too!

Every year, a few weeks before Christmas, my mom makes some baker’s dough that we then use to create Christmas ornaments. We use food coloring to make several different colors of the dough, then create different shapes (Santa’s, Christmas trees, snowmen, etc). The ornaments are then baked and eventually hung on the tree. That’s our family tradition. Love your podcast!!!

Now that my daughter has grown, we do not do as many gifts during the Yule Season. We have agreed to give as things are needed or "thought of you and wanted you to have this".
It was most fun to guide her when she was very young through the choices for the gifts for individuals. And later watching her make selections on her own.
I have no idea how time can pass so quickly. It feels like she should still be in grade school !
Do not feel guilty or the need to apologize for putting your immediate family first. We, your "yarn family", expect nothing less.
Happy Christmas to you and your family.

My favourite crafting Christmas tradition is choosing a knit theme for my kids or the grands and then having the fun of choosing the co,ours and madly knitting them up- we have had animal scarves, felted slippers, hockey team themed family hats, and this year it has been hats with bling for all the granddaughters and socks for the bigger boys.

Some of our traditions include: traveling across the country (Oregon to Illinois) and then driving around the Midwest to visit family. We also get real Christmas tree, etc. we do the elf on the shelf thing. We have a nice biblically based book advent that Mathilda enjoys. I feel the same about recording vlogmas; I really related to what you said. I don’t feel like my life is super interesting and I do not want to feel overwhelmed by it or lose joy. However, I’ve done 6 days of it and I’m enjoying it. It’s turned into a way to capture family time in a fun way that I appreciate. Who knows if I will finish or do it next year, but so far the first six days have been fun.

Thanks for offering this prize package and congratulations!!!! on achieving 3K! I'm sure by this time next year you'll have more than 5K (and you'll have to run that far and post it : )) We have both Christmas and Chanukah in our home. Christmas dinner is something I've only been exposed to for about 7 years... and it was my first time making a turkey, if you can believe it! I love planning the Xmas menu, tweaking it a bit every year, and I always make everything from scratch: stuffing, sides, desserts. My favourite Chanukah tradition is lighting the menorah for 8 nights. It's very peaceful and grounding. Be well!

So many traditions I love...I do like to purchase one new special ornament each year for the tree, which I did yesterday...a handmade one from a maker that I know. I just finished knitting a pair of socks out of Kroy for my youngest, but he is 30! I used the Sidewalk colour, very nice....but I think my needle size was too small...it made a nice fabric, but it hurt my wrists to work on...I'm glad I made them, but I'm also glad they are done 😁

All the women in our family would get together and make a large batch of tamales together (the largest batch I have made is 45 dozen of them bad boys- there were 7 of us that made them together that time).

Traditionally it was the day the men waited on the women & the women got to enjoy a ‘little Christmas’ after doing so much work over the festive season. Nowadays, it’s a day where women get together with other women friends/family. I missed not being able to do so in person last time with the lockdown, but *maybe* this time? My daughters and I along with my granddaughters go to San Francisco (I live in the San Francisco Bay Area in California) and stay at the Westin on Union Square and shop and enjoy all the decorations, ice skating rink and just the wonderful hustle and bustle of the Christmas Season. I think a video on how you handled the chart would be cool to see, but I think you should reach out to the designer first. Even though it's freely available on her website, it could be a violation of copyright to share it. I really love your colorwork sweater, I think it’s called Chestnut. I wanted to mention that I saw a video recently where someone had made a mistake in their colorwork and she fixed it later by using duplicate stitch with the correct color over top of the mistake. And I just want to say, too, that it would be nice to hear how you think of the colorwork chart so that it’s easier to follow. If you’re concerned about using the chart from the pattern, you could find another chart to use and talk in general terms. God bless.

On first advent sunday, we bake gingerbread cookies and put up the christmas decorations. on second advent we bake "lussebullar"(I don't know if english have an actual word for these buns, but they taste amazing) or make an gingerbread house. We usually make or bake some kind of holiday inspired candy or buns or cookies on every advent sunday, in my family, for example(I will write this in Swedish 'cause I don't know the english words): Pepparkakor, lussebullar, knäck, kola, and ischoklad.
