- Today as the Dallas Stars came into Nashville, we learned that The Hockey Gods are undoubtably REAL! See, late in the first period the Stars had the Predators down and out, in a frenzy Johnston shot and it was stopped in a tremendous effort from the captain, Josi. Getting behind his goalie and flashing the leather so to speak, he came up with a huge glove stop to keep the puck out. Only problem is he caught it, in the crease and then chucked it back out. That, is a penalty. We saw it just the night before with Wotherspoon getting a penalty, but not here. The Script had been written though and the Hockey Gods wouldn't let it go that easy as we saw one of the most incredible late period comebacks you will ever see. The Dallas Stars would score 2 goals in 13 seconds to not just tie it, but WIN it in regulation. I cover it all in todays NHL hockey video!

Thank you all so much for watching, I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!
The longer your a hockey fan the more you realize that anything is possible. My wife can’t understand why a team takes out their goalie, thinks it’s stupid. She has never stuck around long enough to see results. Hockey is the best
Devils vs Flyers Giroux scored two goals in 22 seconds with the goalie pulled in 2021. everything is possible. never give up
I'm REALLY not trying to be rude but in what world does that seem illogical to someone when you're down and need all the pressure you can get?
??? Like it's a proven strategy for a reason xD
@@narius_jaden215 Because, to the untrained eye, it's unacceptably high risk. It's easy to assume a defender can knock the puck loose dump it down toward the opposing net accurately, thus putting the game out of reach. Of course, we know that it's not true, and that those six players can control the puck very effectively for a short period of time. But this is why it's good to see things from others' perspectives.
Note to Nashville, the game is 60 minutes not 59:45. Whoops.
@@roguishpaladin when already losing, there's nothing to lose anymore.
One of the things I always remember my dad saying when I was younger watching hockey with my parents was "[insert time here] is still a lot of hockey left".
I still tell myself that when my team is down no matter if theres a few minutes or a few seconds. The rush of your team turning it around with a massive upset with no time left is better in hockey than any other sport
The league not calling these penalty shots is wild
Do the refs ever publicly explain these non-calls?
@@philipgwyn8091nope, and they never will. Or if they do, they will give you the same stock answers "didn't see it" didn't look like a penalty to me from my angle"
@@philipgwyn8091 nope. They're sheltered from having to explain anything just like all the other officials in every other North American sport. The media can hound players and coaches everyday but can't ask officials why they still have a job while being terrible at it.
@@markmierau5189Same in Europe (or Sweden at least), the refs here are untouchable as well and never allowed to be even criticized.
@@robins5798 I assume you mean by players and coaches, right? If so, that's true for the NHL as well - some are just willing to eat the fine.

WHAT A GAME TO TRAVEL TO AS A STARS FAN! I was about 8 rows back right by the goal the Stars shot on in the 3rd period and it was pure insanity what happened!
My daughter and son in law travelled from Dallas to that game too. They were pretty proud they pulled out the W!
I hope you enjoyed that game from a flyers fan
Man I saw you guys on tv. Didn’t look like a lot of stars fans but was thinking those of you that were there prolly couldn’t believe what you just witnessed!
WHAT A GAME TO TRAVEL TO DALLAS TO SEE THE PANTHERS OBLITERATE YALL WITH 4 UNANSWERED GOALS IN THE 2ND AND 3RD PERIOD.
@@HockeyguyBenjaminthat was unfortunate. However I do feel better knowing the panthers are winless since then! 😂
The mood in my house went from solemn to jubilation in just 11 in-game seconds!
Bad teams find ways to lose games, good teams find ways to win games. But I'll never say no to some help from the hockey gods.
So strange, the hockey gods rarely shine on the Dallas Stars.

They looked at the Winter Classic and decided to run it back haha

Wish my team would have it that "rarely".
After witnessing Forsberg hit iron with 2 minutes left i thought we might have some hope but then i thought we werent gonna do it as it crept past the final 30 seconds. 15 seconds left and CRAIG SMITH THE 4TH LINE GRINDER BURIES THE REBOUND. i was so estatic because he had caught iron all day and finally got one in. then i just hipe dallas could pull off our overtime comeback before i realized Hakanpaa was winding up for a slap shot and i think my neighbors could hear my cheers of joy. How Dallas does these kinds of things is beyond me but i love it and that is why they are my team. They have a flair for the dramatic at times, and that was a dramatic end for a pre Christmas miracle.
THIS is why I love hockey so much! Literally anything can happen.
The bummed out Santa at the end was hilarious 😂
When the Stars tied it up and got it in the O zone I was screaming SHOOT THE PUCK! 😂😂😂
The Stars have always been punchy with surprises at the end. Not my main team, but sometimes it’s hard
Great breakdown of events and mentioning hockey Gods lol. It’s true! Thanks!
Never forget, every inspirational and epic story is also a tragedy for the other side who got dunked on.
Good on you for covering this. First I've seen a CZcamsr cover that game. All the others I've seen were covering the more commercial players like Bedard, and teams like Chicago or Pittsburgh.
I don’t think I have ever seen something as crazy as that! Two goals in 13 seconds left of the game
Do the other sports have gods too?
@@TOCC50probably judging by the fact the rangers finally won the World Series
I think this shows that the hockey gods hate that 3rd grade level goalie chant predators fans do
Agree, along with those awful colored home jerseys
Holy shit cry harder damn. You all have been whining about them for a decade. God forbid hockey fans care about hockey
Merry Christmas. Love your channel.
So messed that it wasn’t a penalty shot. Especially considering in this game that puck was no doubt going in if the player didn’t glove it. In the CBJ game it likely wasn’t going in and they got one lol
As a Preds fan I’m tired of hearing about this loss, our defense choked when it mattered most. Preds did the same thing to the Avs last month. The entire prefs fan base is still mad at our team right now. 😭
agree, our defense is solid alot of the time but really seems to die out late in the game, that being said- this just felt like pure bad luck the whole time- preds had two almost-goals in the 3rd that were insane, and no one expected that final shot to go in, while we do need to tighten up - we got pretty unlucky throughout the 3rd
Hey, don't trip. We all been there. This happened to Dallas against Anaheim a few years ago in the playoffs. Down two goals with less than two minutes, the Stars allowed both goals then blew it in OT.
I understand what you’re saying, but this is the type of game that the league will be talking about all season long. For good reason as well
It's frustrating, because the only coverage these guys will give us is negative coverage. Interestingly, on Nov 20th, we did the same thing to Colorado, but it doesn't appear that this guy has a video on this. When we do well, the coverage is never "hey this team in the middle of a rebuild/retool is doing surprisingly well" it's always "well the opposing team was having a bad defensive night/bad goalie night". The overall message of this guy's coverage of our win against Edmonton was that Edmonton was doing very poorly. It's the same when Dangle talks about us too. When Parsinnen scored the between the legs goal last year, he put us on his "hat picks" but just had to say "well was it a cool goal, or was it that the defense didn't really do anything".
@@scoopydooder agree there’s barely any good coverage on the Preds. Although The Hockey Guy did a video on the Preds a few days ago about how good we were doing. Now I feel like his video jinxed us. But whenever anyone else does a video on the Preds it’s always about how the team they’re playing isn’t that good and it was an easy win.
Great ending to that game.

As a Wild fan, good job Stars! But normally, Damn! Preds what the Hell are you doing???! Epic turtle!!!

That game was brilliant, I couldn't care less about either team, but I was running round the room when Hakanpaa left the missile fly 😎
I like your style of NHL videos!
This season across the board has been wild 😅
I'm a Stars fan and I tuned out because I thought Nashville scored when they hit the post. I will not do that again after missing this awesome turn of events.
When I saw it live I turned away thinking game over, then I heard the announcers continue to call the play. What an ending!
I want to also wish a Merry Christmas to all the hockey fans in the world. Go Red Wings.
Dudes narration is the best this world has to offer.

DALLAS STAR DALLAS STAR
My favorite win of the year so far!
I kid you not I got super sick and put into the hospital. I watched that save and it energised me to finally get some words out, which was “thats a penalty”. Then as i got to the end of the game i started trying to take a nap thinking it was boring and as i closed my eyes I heard the stars had scored so i start watching the game again and was like ah they gonna be in ot until I just watched the SNIPE of the century
These videos have turned me from a Ducks fan to a true fan of hockey in general. Keep up the awesome work!!
For me, cardiac Canes comes to mind in the...2008 or 2009 playoffs round 2 against the Devils in game 7. I think they got swept by the Pens in the next series, sadly. Regardless, that was back in the Martin Brodeur days, and that made me so happy to see them lose. Couldn't stand the trap strategy before certain rules changed to prevent games from being boring.
THE GODS HAVE SPOKEN!!!!
3:32 And of course the other night in Vancouver when a Sens player did something SOMEWHAT similar (let's be fair, it looked more like he palmed it open-handed)(I believe it's hard to say if he formally closed his hand on the puck), there was no call. I didn't watch the full game so I don't know if it was reviewed or not. I would have loved to see what the league had to say about all of these.
0:22 still better than oilers goaltending.
How do you not make a video on the flyers/red wings game the other night???
That's one reason Hockey is the greatest sport on Earth! It's not over till it's over!
THAT PUCK DONT LIE!
This is the hockey version of Final Destination
And I thought the Monday Night Miracle was crazy...
59 needs to be a goalie best glove save of the week
That shouldve been either a penalty shot or two minute minor. The refs were clearly ignoring the rules in an attampt to help nashville win. The stars screwed em up though.
Scared the shit out of my wife celebrating this Stars win.
Similar thing happened to the Stars a last season against the Rangers, but it went to OT.
One word JUSTICE
The Forsberg post in the 3rd was the karmic retribution for the Josi non-call. I couldn't really be mad about the glove though, I love when Dmen play goalie. It was so cool I forgive him lol
There's no question that catching the puck like that was the right play. A penalty shot is better than a sure goal. It's just that the penalty shot didn't get called, and that's not the players' fault.
As a Leafs fan I hope Schenn and ROR enjoy their time playing in Nashville xDxD
Go STARS
It's things like this that made me a hockey nut.
What is it with the Stars? I remember them beating my beloved Bruins in regulation...with Boston up by TWO goals with about 45 seconds left in the 3rd.
I still have nightmares.
As a Stars fan, it's frustrating. This team will fight HARD when down, but they'll also just stop playing if they have the lead with like 10 minutes left in the game.
What an insane game. Also boo those refs for botching the Josi play, textbook penalty shot! Great save by Josi, incredible play, but the rules are there for a reason. Refs probably should've enforced them.
Hawks scored 2 in 17 seconds late in the 3rd to win the Cup. That is far closer to the hockey gods than this.
A Christmas miracle you could say
“Undoubtably”
Merry Christmas everyone
The Preds beat the Avs just like that a few weeks back. Hockey gods always balance the ledger.
What a game
Nashville fan here that was at this game. It took us a while after this game before the full realization hit that we lost this game lol. Watching the recap still doesn't feel real.
Yeah, I am a Star's fan who switched the game off after 2-0 and turned it back on when I saw the Stars scored. Brutal loss for you guys.
@ThunderStruck94660 For some reason being up by 2 is like a curse for us. We just can't seem to keep being aggressive when we're up and we let teams back in. I've seen the stars come back a few times at the end of games so I never felt secure in the game. Just didn't expect it to happen in such little time lol
Yeah, the player leadership needs to step up for the Preds in a situation like that. If you hold back and play prevent in the NHL, you are going to get burned. The players are too good and the game is too fast.@@jakemccutcheon7355
2 preds left on their knees in their natural position 😂
With how the rise of "incompetent" officiating seems to coincide directly with the proliferation of sports betting, I wouldn't even be the least bit surprised to learn that refs are betting on games and then using their power on the ice to influence them in their favor. It's not just hockey, either - it seems like the rise or sports betting alongside the rise in flat-out offensively bad officiating has infected just about every major professional sport. I'd say there needs to be an investigation, but the people in charge are probably getting a hefty cut, if they're not engaged in the racket themselves.
i mean the caps destroyed the sharks dreams a few years ago… i just happened to be at that game
welp now nashville knows how its feels lmao
Idk wtf is going on with these linesman’s lack of calls this year but we’ve had quite a few of these kind of things happen here in Detroit and it’s so damn irritating
How can the refs be that incompetent???
Can't there be a video review ??? There must be some kind of accountability for their blatant incompetence
It’s unbelievable that the refs wouldn’t award a penalty shot for something so clear and obvious
The fact that you’re allowed to catch the puck anywhere on the ice EXCEPT to block a shot going in is the dumbest rule ever
@@thatoneguy9666this is not true. If you close your hands on the puck/catch the puck ANYWHERE on the ice and don’t drop it, it is a delay of game minor penalty. If you close your hand/catch the puck in the crease, it’s a penalty shot. Check section 6, rule 618 for clarification.

Refs have been brutal this season
As an Avs fan I say karma but ya in the ass, Nashville 😂 I still am salty about that game where the Avs gave up two late 3rd period goals and one of them was a weird bounce of the stanchion on a clearing attempt
Anyone else think that the hand on puck rule should only be called if the puck is on the ice not in air?
nearly every matchup really fuels this rivalry, looks like we might get a playoff series between these two- wouldn't that be interesting
so many nearly goals for the preds throughout that 3rd period though, and if we went to 3 on 3 the preds easily could've clinched it like we've been doing all season
If it went into OT Foresberg would have won it and hey who knows maybe that’s what will happen the 6th when they match up again.
def started with the Winter Classic, most of the matchups since have been great!
Blackhawks did this in the Stanley cup final.
Announcer didn’t even jinx it. He said “and we’re heading to over time it appears” so clearly some hockey goes at work
Stars fans (including myself) love to give Razor a hard time, because he goes out of his way to show he doesn't believe in all of the superstitions around hockey. He'll start talking about shutouts before the game is over, mentioning the other teams player is on a cold streak, stuff like that. So for once, it actually worked out in our favor, haha.
The announcer did a bad job there saying they’re going to OT with eight seconds left in the offensive zone jinx
Razor does that kind of stuff all the time, it's almost a running joke at this point. This time it worked in the Stars favor at least, haha.
So do we know why the refs didn't call that for a penalty shot? Like incredible effort by Josi but its illegal
Those refs should be ashamed of themselves.
DAHYUM!!!
This is really inexcusable by the Preds. Hope this is a wake up call to improve their focus.
There really needs to be more continuity in NHL calls if its a penalty shot the night before in a different game it should hands down be a penalty shot any other game. Let alone the face that the puck would of been in the net if it weren't for his hand.
yet more evidence that hockey is the greatest sport ever invented.
