I do want to apologize if I said in the video somewhere that it is F/1.6 it was a mistake. It is F/1.4 Also it comes in silver only..... Few of you already pointed it out in comments. I also noticed yesterday increase in battery usage with this lens.... both of the kids were very sick I had very rough last 2 weeks, lots of distractions.... sorry about that. I use the Viltrox TRIO (23, 33, 56) for videos. The lenses are of identical dimensions. The small differences in weight I compensate with couple step rings. This way I use all 3 lenses on my gimbal without rebalancing the gimbal which is very handy and speeds up the work a lot.

I am interested in this lens. I have a couple 7 artisan lenses for my M50 and no regrets. The Viltrox looks like a contender. Thanks for the vid.
I wish this was available before I purchased the m22. I really like the look of this lens but I don't know if I want to spend $300 for a 1.4 aperture. I think I will go ahead and buy a dedicated macro lens instead. I have been planning to do that for quite some time so its time. Thanks for another great review and I hope things get better soon!

You are right, this focal length is the fullframe equivalent to the classic 35mm lens.

@ZdenkaDarula do you think this lens would be appropriate for a talking head instructional-style video with two people next to each other facing the camera, or is there another you'd recommend?
It would be quite nice lens and are you able to get nice professional look. You just have to keep the camera a little bit further away.
Generally , big famous vloggers tend to hide the equipment they use but you are an open book in this aspect ( with links for purchase ) and your videos are always clear and very sharp, perfect lighting even in outdoors. Do you have staff to support you behind the scenes like editing or wielding the camera when outdoors? Another thing, do recommend which video editor is good for a beginner.
I would check out Da Vinci Resolve.... free and powerful. I do reviews do I do talk about my gear lots.... gear is not the secret... what you can do with it is the key
Hi Zdenka, I purchased the 23mm and 33mm for my youtube channel with my M6 Mk II. I have a studio setup in my garage with all the lighting and such as well as an overhead rig. What lens and settings do you recommend for the overhead shots and what settings for the intro and outro talking shots where I use my tripod? Really new and looking to promote our products through really good looking videos. Thank you and I'm hoping you enjoy the new year so far!

This one competes with the Canon ef-m 22mm f/2. It looks like the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 but is not so wide. I guess this one is native ef-m, you don't need the Viltrox adapter? Thx.

My lens came in today I find it very nice. One question though. The autofocus seems to be much slower than the kit lens. Can I change this somewhere in the camera? I have the M50.
Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts. I didnât find it out of focus slower I didnât do any adjustments I just put it in a camera and use it as it is. I am unfortunately not sure if thereâs anything you can do to speed it up

23mm is better wider.... but for clogging you will mainly use 15-45mm kit lens... you need the wider view

My point is that even though it's marketed as a 23mm, is it a true 23mm or is it 37mm due to the focal length multiplier of Canon's APS-C sensor at 1.6x?

I intentionally bought fixed lens equipment the last two times so I wouldn't chase "the next lens I must have."
You said minimum aperture 1.6 at some point :)
Also as of yet they only seem to do a silver version for ef-m.
Sorry.... might have made a mistake.... had a miserable week.... kids were sick big distractions.... sometimes days can get hard and we all can make mistakes

Just a little piece of advice. For me to get this lens to work with my Canon m50 mark ii I had to go into my camera settings and change a setting to get it to work. They don't tell you this anywhere. You have to enable the shutter

@@ZdenkaDarula yes thats exactly what I had to do. And the camera has to be set to Priority mode or shutter mode or others but not automatic. Because if it's set to auto it will not bring up the option you need which is custom functions

I have the Viltrox 33mm f1.4 on my Eos M5.
It works just fine without setting 'release without lens'. Could you have to do it due to a change in the M50 mk 2 Firmware?
It is after all a fully automatic lens (aperture & focus) so should work the same as any other.
Does your mk 2 recognise the lens under 'lens aberration correction'? If not you might need to update the body or lens firmware. ( or change to an M5 )

When I have my lcd screen open the aperture jumps all over the place and I have no control over the camera. Is there settings I need to set in the camera when using the lens to get it to function properly

There is a different between being paid to say only positive things vs honest review.... so you know for next time đ the sign in the corner is new.... CZcams is forcing us to do it even though we only show product without being paid ....

Viltrox does not seem to have any customer service at all and their quality control sucks. If you get a bad copy, you'll just be out of luck
